  @JayHawkFanToo You make a valid point about Mitch blocking shots. But I think that Perry was not quicker and a better jumper than a lot of people gave him credit for. The times I saw him play in person…I thought he was pretty darn quick for a guy his size.

  Just goes to show how anything can happen in D1 basketball. No one really blamed Coleby for leaving, when he left. I’m sure he is wondering what would have happened if he had stayed… er… maybe not. He appears to be busy now! I hope he makes it. He’s had so much to fight through… any success he has should put a big smile on Jayhawk fans’ faces!

  @DoubleDD I’m with you. I would love to see Self break new ground and introduce a completely new kind of player and play to D1. IMHO, Self only scratched the surface of what was possible in the horizontal game with drive ball and bad ball with traditionally sized players. A back line of agile 325 pounders playing 2-3 zone defense could change the game entirely to the horizontal, when the transitioned to offense and backed opponents down to take 60-70 % accuracy shots. Self is smart enough to pull it off, too. But he doesn’t take such plunges unless he gets totally sideways. He’s one big man injury and Sosinski and one more wide body away from possibly trying it.

  @HawkChamp Good reply. Yeah… it may be correct that the March results aren’t impacted. Not sure we have a big enough sample group to know though. I vented some frustration mostly because I find these games totally boring. These games definitely don’t help our SOS. I can see playing 2 or 3 of these games, just to break in freshmen. Beyond that, I just don’t see the value. There is always risk of injuries so might as well go for an opportunity to help our team more.

  I do an SB nation site for Badger football games and this one guy literally 4 times this year has written during the game a message basically saying ‘that’s it, we’ve lost this game’. I always point out that he’ll miss the comeback to victory. During the Michigan game 5 different posters doomed our team because we were losing by a field goal in the 2nd quarter. We have our own Jayhawk fans who are similar in their pessimism.

  @mayjay The thing that made me laugh the most: There was one play where I (Mario) threw a lob to Shady on an inbounds pass and he dunked over Scottie Reynolds. Right before I threw it I looked at Jay Wright and said, “Watch this!” That game was definitely personal for Sherron and me.

  @jayballer54 Yah I just saw that. We will be a killer team next year with what he have “presumably” coming back and who we have coming in. No reason we shouldn’t be strongly tested early. We don’t get a summer time trip to Europe or Korea to try and gain experience for all our Freshies.

  @JayHawkFanToo Virtually the same age. Actually, the NBA was quaking in his boots when he considered trying to enter the draft when he was 17–and he still looked older than Oden ever did. (Contrast our youngest–Svi at 16 looked, maybe, 17.)
