@HighEliteMajor One thing that has always troubled me over my years of coaching and watching my kid’s teams when I was not coaching, is how many coaches seem to patently refuse to play their best players all at the same time. Never once as a coach did I not start my best 5 unless there was an eligibility issue. So maybe we flip this debate which is losing “energy” and answer a simpler/better? question: Who are our best 5 players right now?
That’s who you start. And btw…this “deep” pre-season team everyone was raving about has gotten real thin real quick.
haha…in those positions? I would love to see Self play DLaw at the 1 and Ochai at the 5…then when teams switch, they would be back in their regular position. JK
A tour of the White House is a great experience. It’s something that you should do if you get the chance. I have been in DC a couple of different times, but both times no tours were available the days I was free to go. Maybe next time. There is a lot of history around DC. Not just the White House, but all along the Mall. The White House is tough to get into now (for good reason), but the Smithsonian and all of the memorials and other museums make a DC trip worthwhile if you are into the history at all.
I’m curious where we would be today had we still kept these two on the bench. I’m imagining Danny working with Doke.
I wonder how many FTs Doke is planning to shoot every day this summer?
He should start without going nuts on repetitions until he gets his stroke mechanics worked out. I’ve seen guys become too ambitious and then learn bad technique and reinforce it with reps and muscle memory. Then, he should have someone around him to verify his mechanics constantly. Do many short reps in a day and spread them out to see if he is able to replicate his proper mechanics each time. Then start increasing his reps.
I can’t believe (if he does this right) he will shoot below the 60-percentile mark this coming season. Proper mechanics and some reps should guarantee him of that kind of number (or higher).
I guess I am assuming Doke will be back next year. IF Doke returns…
@JayHawkFanToo OK , whatever you say all I know that it’s time to move on - not a time to see who gets to have the last word - - It’s getting boring need something fresh. I’ll just keep right on rooting for those quote " Under achievers -that just keep on winning "- -and you root for hmmmm well you root for hell I dunno root for something I guess - Time to move on
@chriz I think he could guard it better if playing the 3. Right now he looks like Perry did for so long–he has trouble getting from inside to the arc as fast as his guy. But I think he is still better as a 4.
I thought KU played quite well even in the first half. They beat the press much better than previous years. Their D was really solid. They took away WV strength, offensive rebounding, and made them into a jump shooting team.
I thought Self had an excellent game plan and execution by players was good. The few TOs in the early stages can be expected, more mental lapses.
