HighEliteMajor said: @BShark Maxwell had little choice if he wanted to play, correct? He was stuck. He couldnt go to an NCAA D-1 school this last fall. And on Whitman, nothing changed from the time he signed over the next 2 1/2 months. It seems the roster was exactly the same. We had Doke, Preston, and Lightfoot. Am I overlooking something there? To determine “why”, the changes in events/circumstances are where to start. On Preston, I understand info may not be offered. What I see with so-called reporters is zero investigation. As a taxpayer, a KU donor, a KU grad, and a guy who had paid for two kids at KU, I’m interested in what we spent the money on. Are you interested? I know one of my KU buddies doesn’t care at all as long as we get no negative repercussions. The silence is frusterating. When there is a suspension I understand when Self says it has been handled inside the team. We don’t know what happened but the player is sitting one game or so on. When we see a player not playing to potential or lack of hustle l understand it is kept under the carpet if he is sick or slightly injured to avoid signaling the competition. When an incident such as Preston has ended, fans deserve the most complete explanation they can be given. When they are given nothing, that’s a slap in the face. One more reason to fire Zenger.

That most improved player thing seems to change from game to game. I am still hoping to see Vick rise to the title which was forecast for him, back in October. As yet, he is not exactly nursing hind teet, but he has a long way to go to prove himself as most improved.

@DoubleDD I’m with you. I would love to see Self break new ground and introduce a completely new kind of player and play to D1. IMHO, Self only scratched the surface of what was possible in the horizontal game with drive ball and bad ball with traditionally sized players. A back line of agile 325 pounders playing 2-3 zone defense could change the game entirely to the horizontal, when the transitioned to offense and backed opponents down to take 60-70 % accuracy shots. Self is smart enough to pull it off, too. But he doesn’t take such plunges unless he gets totally sideways. He’s one big man injury and Sosinski and one more wide body away from possibly trying it.

Very glad to have Joe back. Loneker had 2 tackles, Kyron Johnson had 3 and Ogbebor had 2. Joe Dineen sure carried the load for the linebackers last week.
