Come on WV beat TCU!

Alabama responded well to losing to OU. 101-44 helps the old analytics.

Final 4 team

Where can we get those glorified scrimmage games in the Big-12??

@kuballin10 Alabama unlike their football team chokes every once a decade they have a decent team. 1st/2nd round flameout.

Is lampkin healthy? He sat out sat.

2 Tennessee gos down to Florida by 11
-
@BeddieKU23 what’s wrong? I know he went back in after his ankle sprain against us, something different?
-
North Carolina goes down and the runner ups who returned almost everyone are officially on bubble watch
-
Tennessee goes down to clear way for KU to move into the projected 1 seed
-
High ankle sprain seems to be taking a while to heal.
-
@Kcmatt7 Wow, we’ve got a lot of tough games to win before we earn a 1 seed.

Tough as nails that one

I think only KU and Texas have overall winning road records this season. This second half of the conference season will be murder. Bill seems to be fired up and keeps saying this squad has little room for error. Yep.

This isn’t meant to rip on Mahomes toughness playing with his high ankle sprain, but it’s two different sports with different stress loads on the ankle. Basketball is a much more difficult sport to play with a high ankle sprain than QB is. A high ankle sprain is damage to the ligaments that connect the ankle to the tibia and fibula and affects jumping and vertical load more than horizontal load like a low ankle sprain. Both can limit mobility both ways, but each one affects mobility more in a different way if that makes sense.
We Mahomes struggle to push off amd get the zip on his passes he normally does because of his injury, but it’s something a QB can play through. With a basketball player, all the jumping and sprinting make it very difficult to play with a high ankle sprain because that’s where a lot of the pressure is directed in the body.

Nice little morsel here: Tucky fans are debating if they’ll even make it to the tourney, and are openly contemplating the NIT. One of their posters had this gem : “Could use the NIT to help keep up with Kansas in the wins department. Maybe.” LOL. He’s not even sure if going to the NIT would help them keep up with us…

@Kcmatt7 NC, from pre-season #1 to now bubble watch

@Jethro SEC fans are whack. In Baton Rouge LSU was playing Bama in football and Bama was quite a bit better that season. Local sportswriter actually wrote a column hoping for a Bama win because then the SEC would have a better chance of winning another national championship. In other words cheering for your archrival because it might hurt the conference.

A few years ago on a New Year’s Day, I was in a college bowl football thread where one of the teams was from the SEC, and there were more fans from other SEC teams than the SEC team that was playing. That was a year that Arkansas was bad- didn’t make a bowl game, yet a slew of Hog fans were in there bragging away. “We’re the SEC- we’re the BEST”. So in the SEC, even if your team stinks, you get to take credit for wins. As long as you have your SEC card.
-
@wissox SEC fans literally care more about the conference than their own team. I can attest to that. I lived in Knoxville from 2000-2010. My wife and I have been spending new year’s eve with three of our Tennessee friends (two women who hate football and a guy who loves football) every year since 2009 (rent a cabin for three nights in the Smokies or on the Plateau). Anyway, guy friend is huge Vol/SEC fan. I love the guy, but he’s hopeless. We start the weekend with a pool picking all the football bowl games. In 13 years, Mr. SEC has NEVER won the pool because he picks all the SEC teams to win. Every damn year. His wife won picking games alphabetically one year. My wife won picking teams by the color red one year. I won at least three years picking against every SEC team except the obvious ones.
This year, he doesn’t pick Tennessee because, I don’t know, he couldn’t handle the emotional trauma of a double loss or something, and that blew his picks this year. SMDH. Warped perspective of that conference.
-
I’ll add, that before that OSU guy muffed the winning kick on new years eve against Georgia this year, he was almost in tears thinking there wouldn’t be an SEC team in the championship game.
-
@DanR sounds like a lovely evening!
-
@DanR what does he think about the big 12 teams coming?
-
@DanR When I lived in Baton Rouge the fans were always SEC this and that. I would ask them how is the SEC doing in wrestling this year? Soccer? Lacrosse? Hockey? Crickets!

I met Donny Boyce tonight. I was at a game in Hammond, IN and he was coaching Proviso East at Hammond Central which has a very good team. I was wearing my KU gear and my friend and KU roommate had met him a few weeks ago and Donny was so nice and gushed about playing at Allen Field House. For those not remembering he played at Colorado in the mid '90s and went onto the NBA for a while. He told me AFH was his favorite place to play but he also never won there, the only gym in the league he didn’t win at if I understood him correctly. 2 of his Proviso East teammates from when he played there went to the NBA also, one you’ve heard of Michael Finley. The 3 amigos as they were called won 3 straight state titles and had a state record win streak.

Saw Houston pull off a win in the last four minutes against the Shockers last night. The Roundhouse wasn’t full (kinda disappointing), but it was certainly rocking! The Haystacks weren’t too shabby, either, leading nearly the entire game, largely due to occasional moments of excellence on D, by my lights. But hell, it was hard for me to tell what was going on without Fran explaining it to me.
-
Fran is like a rectal fistula.
-
Fran is doing ISU game.
-
@Jayblaze I was pulling for WSU. I like IB. The fans, of course, hate him. They’d love to have the player beater, greaser gregggg back.

Well crap – and he will suck up to ISU too I’ll just turn the volume down and listen to home broadcast
-
Does this sound right today: TCU at OSU with OSU favored by 4 and TX at KState and TX favored by 1.5? I would have handicapped both games just the opposite.
-
@stoptheflop Well, at least with regard to the first one, TCU is still without Miles, and although Lampkin played against WVU, it was only for 8 minutes. And, OSU is a solid team and has just one conference loss at home.
-
I find it interesting that college game day is at Duke North Carolina despite both teams being unranked. I wonder when the last time those teams played when bothe weren’t ranked and I wonder the last time game day went to a location for a game between unranked teams. Both have to be pretty rare. Feel like the cyclones could have had one today but basically every game in the big 12 could have a good case for hosting game day this year.
-
Game day at unranked Duke is such bullshit

I don’t know, but he’ll probably count their past national championships as additional proof of SEC superiority

Texas & K/State lost here also
-
Yeah. But ISU lost to Mizzou and Texas Tech. So there’s that.
-
It’s actually crazy how much of a defensive juggernaut they claim ISU is when TT hangs 80 on them
-
Tenn, Auburn game is rough to watch. Think we found 2 offenses that were actually worse than ours today. Crazy. They have more rebounds than points. And I’m NOT kidding

ISU might not quite be a defensive juggernaut, but they are a really damn good defense. The Tech game was only the second time they’ve given up 70+ in regulation and 3rd time total this season.

Jack Youngblood found Mahomes’ toughness a bit more exceptional than you did…pretty much unique in Jack’s eyes.
I am trying to remember another time a QB excelled on a high ankle sprain, but maybe you have seen it more than I have.

Watching this Purdue-Indiana game, Purdue’s defense sucks. I don’t think we are going to see a much better defense the rest of the season than Iowa St’s.

I didn’t say Mahomes isn’t tough, just that it’s easier for a QB to play with a high ankle sprain than a basketball player or other positions in football because of how that particular injury impacts player performance. Mahomes isn’t reliant on his running ability to be a great QB, so that made it easier for him to deal with, manage, and play with that injury than it would’ve been for someone like Jalen Hurts who is dependent on his running ability to excel as a QB.
