@BeddieKU23 and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.
Zags came out of this little run with no championships and look like they’ll be down a bit next season.
They had a nice run from 2015 to now. A pair of Elite Eights, three Sweet 16s, a pair of trips to the title game and a top 5 team in the lost 2020 season. That would be a tough pill to swallow to get that close basically every year for eight postseasons and have no titles. That’s somewhat reminiscent of the Phi Slamma Jamma Houston Cougars of the 1980s, who went to three straight Final Fours, and back to back title games, but never won the Big One, losing to the Jordan-Worthy-Perkins UNC team in 1982, the Jim Valvano NC State squad in 1983, and the Patrick Ewing led Georgetown team in 1984.
Weird to get that close that often and never break through.

Buffalo Bills on line 1.
-
Former West Virginia Mountaineer and current Kentucky Wildcat Oscar Tshiebwe announced he is returning to Kentucky today. That’s big time for UK and should make them even more attractive to transfers.
-
Nembhard leaving Gonzaga. They losing a lot & haven’t signed squat in HS or transfer portal so far

Ya they had quite little run, but looks like this might be a bumpy year for them

Jalen has representation. https://twitter.com/AndyJ0seph/status/1517321532602679296
-
@Gorilla72 The firm he’s using has an NCAA certified agent so Jalen can still come back if he chooses to.

Guys like CB and JWil need to get NBA feedback… this is a must! Realistically… they both should realize how much they improved this past 12 months, think about how much they can improve in the next 12 months, and make a decision. From my perspective, they should both return and use Och as the example of why it pays to have patience and continue to work hard.

Wilson already has his NBA feed back so he probably knew

It’s a no brainer to get updated feed post championship.

Wilson really didn’t improve very much this season and probably actually hurt his stock this year with his drop off in outside shooting. Jalen is projected as a 3 at the NBA level and has to show that he consistently make an outside shot and be able to take a player off the dribble which isn’t very good at either. His rebounding and transition game are pluses, but I honestly don’t ever see Jalen catching on in the NBA. He doesn’t shoot well enough to be a stretch 4 and not athletic enough to be a 3 at the NBA level.
Braun needs to stay in the draft to me. I don’t think he can boost his stock into the lottery the Agbaji did because Braun is an average defender whereas Agbaji is an above average defender that can guard 1-4.
-
You don’t need to get into the lottery. Just the 1st round to get guaranteed money, right?
-
CB has a hard time flipping his on switch. Usually somebody turns it on at half. Damn he could be good if he would do both halves.

We knew that was coming. - I just fully believe he won’t be back. don’t think like same as some others don’t think he can really improve his draft that much by returning
-
Good for him, but bummer for us.
Was cruising the mock drafts to see where CB is expected to go, and found this gem comparison for any old schoolers:
46 Kansas – HT: 6-6 – WT: 205 – WING: NA – Jr – Braun is a complete player and a crafty scorer who could find a role at the NBA level. Comparison: CRAIG EHLO

Knew this was happeing -we all did or should have. - -Said it before - - say it again - - he not coming back no matter how much he loves KU - -on top of ballin - -he is smart
-
@jayballer67 yeah. He gone. Good for him. Sure was fun to watch him play. Will miss his competitiveness

I will too. Thing for me is and there are some here that don’t/won’t like it BUT I loved Christan’s edge he had to him - -that dawg - some arrogance he had maybe cockiness. I love guys that show some fire a guy that shows emotion If he can walk the walk as well as talk the talk - then more power to him , love to see him rile some fans up , players up. playing a man’s game instead of walking the floor emotionless and acting like zombies - Christan had THAT FIRE " bitch " LOL - SORRY but THAT’S what I’m talking about after a dunk you very much a fire paly a game changing play I want to see EMOTION from the players- – Christan has that
-
80% gone imo. Definitely plans to go. Could be a late miracle or something changes with his draft grade etc
-
Where do you see these guys going in the draft?
-
Ever sports analysts saying that hes gonna leave his NCAA eligibility open
-
Now that it’s looking like more and more we lose Jalen AND CB BOTH - of course doesn’t surprise me. Jalen may not be NBA but if not I think he still leaves and plays somewhere making money. - The roster for sure gonna have a new look to it.

This is confirmed yes. He would have been dumb not to do so.

Wilson isn’t getting drafted and should come back, Braun’s best case scenario is he kills it at the combine and workouts and is a late 1st round pick. More likely, Braun grades out as an early to mid 2nd round pick amd his decision likely comes down to how much coming back and improving his consistency helps his draft stock next season. I think more than likely, Braun has played his last game for KU.
-
Does J-Will have an NIL with anyone? I understand G-League pays around $36K per season average. A good NIL would be an incentive to return and also to continue course work.
-
It feels like we are just scratching the surface of how lucrative NILs can be. Having an advertising presence can help build a brand that someone who is social media savvy (like Jalen maybe) might capitalize on after college whether or not he goes league
-
Perhaps the least surprising announcement in regards to a players future, Ochai Agbaji officially declared for the draft today.
-
https://kuathletics.com/ochai-agbaji-absolutely-no-regrets/
The whole thread, made me cry. What a thoughtful guy. ️
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Might be the best farewell I have seen. I like the challenge to the next group of Jayhawks to take it to the next level!
-
From the ku athletics article linked above: “All the great things I’ve achieved this season are all well and good, but I’m going into a grown man’s league. No matter where I’m drafted, I’m going to have to fight my way in. That’s why it’s so useful to me that I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder, and I don’t see it going away any time soon. I still feel like I’m undervalued — just like I was coming out of high school, just like I was entering my senior year at KU. That motivates me. I’m not done working yet, and I think I still have a whole other level my game can reach.”
@drgnslayr You may have been on to something with that whole chip thing.
-
Mindset of a future NBA champion imo
-
@mayjay that’s a wonderful upbringing

If I win the Powerball tonight, there WILL be a Jethro NIL.
-
Would Caleb Love have returned to school without NIL in place?
-
@approxinfinity yes 100%
-
To expound upon this, this is largely the same stuff that has been in place. It’s boosters paying kids, but now it’s legal in a still roundabout, but more public way. Love is a guy that would have been lucky to be drafted in the 2nd round (my personal guess is undrafted). I’m sure he got some feedback without putting his name in, and it’s more lucrative for him to stay at UNC than grind in the gleague or Europe. Just look at the strong history programs like UNC, Duke, UK and to a lesser extent KU have with maintaining fringe draft talents. In the past if this system had been in place you would have seen more guys that ultimately stayed “declare and test” first. Everything is just much more public now, for better or worse.

Please do it on the football side lol

@Kcmatt7 yeah hoops is relatively cheap. Anything beyond sustaining excellence for hoops should go to football.

For the love of all that is holy just get enough to land a few local kids over KSU. Has to happen. LL might need to be more selective with targets, but they’ve got to find a way.

KSU’s package is not that impressive, which in turn says something not great about ours lol.

We’re in good shape for a couple (Calvin Clements, Tre Richardson, Sam Same). The bigger names will take some time and success on the field to really get a foothold. Not for lack of trying. Coaches are all over the state recruiting this week. Fuchs is working hard on Otting, and Zebrowski is still working Avery Johnson. Have to up to the end.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Better than NEATDEAL’s approach at least. Plus Lance not being senile (Les) surely helps.
Hopefully we see more than 2 wins this year.
