  Really no question Kevin is better option than a portal guy. I do think the ball sticks on offense when he’s in but it had gotten better by seasons end and played well the last month of the season. It is without question a championship or bust season now. We have a super tough schedule so we will find out how good we are early. It’s a lot of pressure but that’s why you want the older guys.

  I think you’re on to something. You could see him noticeably defer to JW on several occasions last year. I think having HD at the rim will allow him to fly all over the court.

  @rockchalkjayhawk Both Kevin and Jalen have not looked good at the combine. Jalen will stay in no matter what but I don’t see Kevin getting picked and smart money says he’ll make more off of NIL here than a two contract or over seas. Obviously his choice and I’ll respect what he decides because you can’t base every decision off of money.

  I was hiking through Zion National Forest on Saturday and another hiker passed by and said “You’re going to love Hunter Dickinison”. It took me a minute to figure out why he said that to me - until I looked down at my hoodie with the giant Jayhawk on the front of it.

  @wissox Watched a bunch of Davis this year in his pursuit for the record. Elite level shooter but I think at a higher level he would struggle to be anywhere close to that scoring level playing alongside other good players and playing against them. I didn’t see the intangibles outside his scoring ability to predict success at a Power 5 school. He flirted with the portal last year and I think he made the right decision going back to where he was. I thought athletically he would struggle moving up and most certainly defensively.

  What is the issue with this portal season? We appear to be putting all our cards on a couple of players, without any clear indication we will land them. Some on this thread seemed to think Ingram was a done deal for example. Count me old school, but I like high character players who will well represent KU. I don’t care whether he has skills, but I’m a hard no on Morris, and am disappointed that he is even a target. Would have been fine with Ingram as a JWill/McCullar hybrid replacement, but that ship has sailed. Not really a fan of going after Dickinson, notwithstanding his obvious skills. Issues and means less development for the current bigs. Having watched Spears in person, not really interested in him other than as a bench option - not efficient, doesn’t make others better and doesn’t play much defense. Fine with Timberlake, but more as a bench option than starter. Think Tyson would be a good fit - McCullar 2.0 - but looks like that may be going a different direction. Am I alone in not wanting to go down the prima donna / problem child path? Nothing good has come of those recruits before now…

  @Jethro Crazy to think that if he gets to play we have him instead of a midseason reclassed Silvio De Sousa on that FF team. That Nova team was a total wrecking ball, but I do wonder if he could have played D better than Doke for us that game in a small lineup…
