Transfer Rumblings

@FarmerJayhawk So if Chris leaves now we are back in on what another guard?
Should have never stopped recruiting Nelson…….
Bama and Oats might get Nelson and Kaluma which would be salty
***edit - seeing Nelson’s final 4 as the third ranked transfer is stupid. We clearly had an in and there was mutual interest but Bill didn’t wanna hurt any one’s feelings. Just dumb

@kuballin10 I wonder if we try to get back in for Zyon Pullin

That’s when the chatter first really started. Slater plugged in as always.
-
We need another body or two. I’m weary of only having 10 scholarship guys. As far as Chris it doesn’t bother me. Only guys in the recruiting class you had to keep was Marcus and Elmarko…,
-
crazy , crazy off season
-
Johnson leaving is a blessing
-
-
Johnson has asked to be released. Now let’s get a dude
-
I’d even take another freshman that understands if you can only score 7 ppg in high school that you may need to ride the bench for a year or two
-
Why is it a blessing that he’s leaving? Love to know more about him
-
@Bosthawk he just really isn’t very good. Cannot shoot. Also some stuff with his attitude. Not that dominating prep ball is a requirement to be good at the D1 level, but he sucked at prep school this year.
-

This is kinda like saying Bill Self is somewhat of a good basketball coach.
-
What an odd commitment from the start. If he really had a crap attitude from the get go, why did Self recruit him? Odd. From his scouting report: Overall, he is confident, physical, and plays with an edge, that can be either a competitive advantage or disadvantage depending on how it is impacting him.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk Athletically there is a lot to like. I actually thought that attitude would serve him well as a freshman because it would make him be aggressive. But he really just didn’t get better his senior year. If I were a betting man we don’t even see him finish his collegiate career at a P5 school.

More Kentucky fun. They are likely to get Jordan Burks. Per an assistant coach that briefly looked at him before “he’s dog shit”.
-
Thumbs up to the intel @BShark not to a coach calling a kid “dog shit”. Brutal.

Yeah, lot of coaches will be pretty candid off the record but that is a rough comment.

Nike and Wes aren’t carrying Cal anymore. I waited years for this day but it’s finally here.

World Wide Wes hasn’t been affiliated with Calipari in years. He had to give that awhile ago when he became a certified NBA player agent and he’s worked in tge Knicks front office for several years now.

He still has pull especially with Nike and top tier talent on the east coast.
-
Just saw from Zagsblog, that well they gave two different numbers but they said that the NBA reported that 158 players had withdrawn their name for consideration from the draft.- -Still some pretty quality guys - -wondre if it’s to late to try to get that really good four or tha productive wing ?
-
In an interview today in Topeka with KSTN: “Still recruiting… We’re still dabbling and looking into different situations,” Self said. “I thought we were probably going to be done unless something just fell in our lap. And now after we had someone say that they didn’t want to come now, now we’re in a situation where I think we can certainly give another scholarship out.”

Yes, he still has influence, but he’s not using it in the way that he used to because that would cost him his job with the Knicks and cost him certification as an agent.

I’d be surprised if anything broke before someone actually entered the portal. This year has been instructive.
Also, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kevin McCarthy are bumping uggs. Do with this what you will.

GRAPEVINE HEARINGS from a former CBB coach.
Oscar was working out here and Calipari showed up to make him an offer to return: https://www.thecarolinafactory.com/
Oscar was offered FOUR MILLION DOLLARS by Calipari and he turned it down.
Seeming like a lot of kids are now determining that Calipari isn’t even worth the money.

-
@BShark Our new guard just announced his adidas deal on Instagram.

Hunter is a better JW and JW was a stud
Timberlake can shoot it fairly identical to Grady
Terio is that stud athletic guard we’ve been missing
Kevin BACK - nothing else to be said
KJ’s jumper improving and he’s if anything more athletic which is stupid to think about
Juan - there are no questions he’s a stud just play aggressive and ATTACK - when he does that he makes us the best team
Bench: Jamari’s stroke is pure, Elmarko backing Juan down hitting a fade away, Marcus isn’t here yet and he’s probably best shooter and Parker getting spot minutes hitting some three’s (hopefully a better Clemence)
Wish season started tomorrow
-
I’ll believe things when I see them in game with KJ lol.

40% trey ball this year
-
@BeddieKU23 He doesn’t need to shoot 40%. If he can get to 25% that would be enough to keep people honest.
-
If KJ can add a trey ball at 30ish% he would probably be the best player on the team.
I don’t anticipate that, but he would start getting some NBA talk if he can truly add a three point shot.
-
There was 100% sarcasm in that response. I could care less if he makes one 3 this year. Was just playing with the obsession of KJ shooting 3’s.

My o/u on threes ATTEMPTED for the year is 4.5

Agree with this, I don’t care if he shoots threes he is a good player.

I still think I’ll take the over on that. Are we counting the exhibition game? The tournament in august?

Real games only.

@BShark I’ll still take the over. Not sure it gets into double digits but 5 at least. This could all come down to whether he makes one at late night or not!
-
Olivier ends up at Michigan and not in the B12 thankfully. Had he made it to WVU Huggy might have had a top 10 lock of a team tbh.

That I don’t know lol. He had 6 points total so it couldn’t have been many.

There will never be another Scott Pollard. Shot 100% from 3 in college, 0% in the pros.
1 for 1 in his last KU game.
0 for 2 in his 11 year NBA career, both in the same season.
I wonder if anyone else could possibly have such weird stats!

"Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy has gone portaling, he announced. The 6-7 pass-first guard averaged 8.3 points and 4.9 assists last season and shot 37 percent from 3.
Grad transfer."
