Is CJ the guy that is on the backup point guard on a loaded hs team?
Yeah, it did not go well for him at all this year.
-
@BShark So is that an indictment of CJ or is there just unreal talent on the team? It’s not like KU will be less talented…
-
@dylans He’s bad. 35% from the floor, 26% from three.
-
@BShark Not a good year. I feel bad for the guy. Had it all coming together as a jr only to have your sr gear go to
-
@BShark At this point, another year of prep basketball would probably do wonders for him.
-
There is other stuff I heard that I shouldn’t repeat on this board. It would be pretty surprising if he ends up being a good D1 player but you never know.
-
@BShark said in Transfer Rumblings:
Chris Johnson has removed a lot of KU stuff from his Instagram the day after Eric Bossi tells Kansas fans not to worry about the 4th scholarship opening up. Coincidence???!
you think Johnson might be thinking about de-commiting ?

@BeddieKU23 said in Transfer Rumblings:
Hunter to visit Kentucky April 23-25th. Non ideal.
Ya , I’m just not getting a good vibe about this with fricken Kentucky & Arkansas now
-
@BShark said in Transfer Rumblings:
@TYOHawk I can get that, but of the two if you are going to process one you’d go with Chris I strongly feel.
Good update from Swain on Arterio just now.
Morris is or was just on campus wasn’t he ?
-
If Johnson is out I’d be fine with Battle or Morris in that spot.
-
Spring Bill is here.
-
So, let’s say we DO MISS on Hunter, I guess it wouldn’t be the end of the world , I mean sure it would be a kick in the nads but maybe just have to ride the 5 spot by committee of Udeh - -KJ – & Zuby… - -We might be ok. Still hopefully land if we need to l WE got Timberlake – then add Ingram & Morris -I guess we go ahead take Morris & prey to GOD he has his head on straight and not become a cancer i the locker room with distractions- - yet with those three would be a solid incoming. What you think ?
-
@jayballer67 We would be more than fine with Udeh/KJ and Zuby at the 5 rotation imo. The key is getting Ingram at the 4 to me. He makes it all work because if not then you’re really putting a lot on Marcus Adams plate.
-
Had to laugh just a little. - -Kentucky fans off their boards - just happy as punch that Hunter visiting this weekend, but worried to death also. -
They are saying well - -what if Oscar decides he wanted to come back says not going pro - - -which right now they aren’t sure he hasn’t decided, he has a couple of workouts going on and i guess to Calpari go ahead and build your roster don’t worry about me as I’ve got things going on and can’t make a decision right now. So they say what if he ends up NOT going pro but yet his spot is filled by Hunter
How it would be such a bad look for Kentucky if Oscar didn’t go pro - - -came back and went to another College program , they are in a panic on how that would make Kentucky look. - - Hell le him come back to College -I would be more than happy for him to come here if that were to ever happen for a year - -it won’t but IF it did he is a walking double double -I’d take him lol
-

Agree - - -Agree. I also agree I think we would be fine. I think from wht little I know I feel pretty good about Ingram ending up landing here - -or I should say I hope so
-
@TYOHawk If Udeh or Zuby make that sophomore leap whiffing on Hunter won’t hurt as bad.
Missing out on 20/10 though would suck.
I think Elmarko starts but also Marcus Adam’s surprises some people. Kid is 6-8 and can shoot it. Bill will find him some minutes.
-
So Hunter visiting Villanova now too - -not trippin about them , just heard Eric Bossi on the radio- -Also Ingram in Chapel Hill tonight. - - -Seems Carolina fans think he is all theirs
-
Johnson is the one member of the class I don’t mind cutting loose if we need the spot. He’s really just pure potential at this point and without a real position. I like McDowell better to be honest.
-
If Ingram goes to UNC, I hope its because we are back in with Tyson. I just like the fit there.
-
We weren’t really after him, but Cormac Ryan is popping for UNC.
Still feel good about Ingram. UNC is going to make things interesting but at the end of the day why on this big planet of ours would you ever choose Hubert Davis over Bill
-
@RockkChalkk Tyson is a no go. Not a KU guy
-
Why?
-
I have a feeling he could be a KU guy…
-
@RockkChalkk the phrase to me was “not coachable”
-
Getting the impression that Morris’s interest in KU is more than vice versa…
-
Interesting. Struggling to find out exactly who KU has the high interest in other than HD.
-
@RockkChalkk Ingram
-
@FarmerJayhawk said in Transfer Rumblings:

sO YOU THINK THERE IS PRETTY HIGH INTEREST FROM BOTH SIDES ?
-
@jayballer67 no lol. Morris wants KU way more than KU wants Morris.
Also, in piecing some stuff together today, KU slow played Ingram just a little. Remember Slater’s gif like 6 weeks ago? It was legit and spooked KU a little. UNC jumped in the void and is making a run at it. So if you hear “KU botched this” or something like it, that’s what happened. The Ingram family really favors KU still and the staff has to close the deal, but Case is the man. I think they get it done.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Can you explain the gif, please, including what caused any hesitancy? I, for one, do not have an encyclopedic memory indexing the library of what must be several thousand posts in a half-dozen (or more) threads we seem to be developing this recruiting season!
Thank you!
PS: I don’t have encyclopedic knowledge of my refrigerator, either, so it could just be old age.
-
@mayjay sure! Thanks for reminding me not everyone is chronically online. Andrew Slater, who’s as plugged into basketball as any human alive today, tweeted that KU would be in on Harrison Ingram. This was weeks before he hit the portal. So KU got spooked it would look like obvious tampering and backed off to make it look like they only recruited him after he entered. Idk if it was ever realistic for him to commit super early, but it did give UNC a window to jump in the race.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Ah, I remember a concern mentioned not to look like tampering. Thanks!
I am pretty sure we have so much more info this year than years past. How you all sort it out is beyond my ken!
-
Been busy. I’ll just say trust Farmer.
Would maybe get into it with Tyson if they miss on Ingram. There would be a lot to work out though. He does NOT have the dog in him. Do not rule Ingram out though.

This one has been absolutely brutal to try and parse info on.
-
are we a legit contender for mgbako?
-
@rcjhdraft no.
-
Next 7 days will be very interesting. My money is on a second commitment.
-
Vernon made it sound like they’ll take Morris commitment if he wants to come.

Vernon vs Farmer, Ryan and myself. It’s a scoop off folks.
-
@TYOHawk KJ should have been playing the 4 spot last year, and could eventually evolve into a 3 and D role towards the end of his career here. We saw glimpses of his shooting ability last year. He was deadly 8 feet and in and showed range out to 15 feet. He will continue to develop those aspects of his game when other players finally develop enough to man the 5 spot consistently.

I think you’re very optimistic on his role. I think he’s a super charged Jamari and that’s useful.

May the best scoops win…
-
I know where Vernon is getting his info and I’ll take mine.
-
I do not understand even associating yourself with Morris if you aren’t interested in him. Maybe it was leverage to get Timberlake to commit. But it makes no sense to get the bad PR and host Morris if you aren’t actually interested.
-
@Kcmatt7 not interested is too strong. I think the door is open for a quick commitment but if not, they’ll move on just as quickly.

Suspect he will follow the money. Not exactly ground breaking obviously.
-
@TYOHawk I pretty much nailed KJ’s stats and progression prior to the start of this past season. @BShark seriously doubted my projections, even though he’s right way more consistently than I am. Like I said a year ago, he passes the eye test. He has the athleticism, drive, and developing skill to accomplish all of the above. It doesn’t hurt that Coach Self can see the same, and has said as much. I’ve been wrong about a bunch of guys in the past, but proud I’ve gotten this one right so far. I agree with you though, I’m overly optimistic with this specific Jayhawk.

I spoke briefly with KJ last week (barnstorming tour out west, I have no connections) . He said he is working on expanding his range to 15 foot. (He specifically said he’s not really adding a 3 ball, laughed it off). Nice young man. I look forward to seeing his hard work show up on the court.
-
Guys don’t really become three point shooters at this late of a stage. He’s a good player, but him developing a trey would shock me.
@dylans good stuff though.
-
KJ is a great story already and he’s a great kid who gives you everything he has, every night. Really solid year for him when it wasn’t expected he would be relied upon like he was. I’ll let Self figure out how to use him going forward if we get a portal dude at the 5. We know he’s a trusted Self dude so he’s going to play a lot.
