Hey it worked for like 4.5 minutes. Another one bites the dust.
-
@cragarhawk Chuckie does!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 for sure we can work on it to honest I’m shocked we only got out rebounded by 4. Seemed like more than that watching. I think they had 14 second chance point most of them dunks.
-
Gradey was due for a big game but if the chant helped lock him in, hopefully other teams do it as well and see how it goes
-
Gradey was an assassin! Our guys did what they had to do. Love how they played the passing lanes and those TOs converted to scoring killed OSU. Let’s remember back to previous years… all those great teams that went to Stillwater and lost! It’s a huge win and if we can get back healthy now we’ll threaten to win another conf title!
-
Insane that they shot 50% from the floor, 47% from deep and 9 more free ones but still end up losing by double digits. Feel like that’s something that doesn’t happen often.
-
I haven’t seen a stat sheet but I bet we won the possession battle!
-
Ernest made a big impact! Now get him to stop some of those fouls…
-
@drgnslayr they don’t show that on espn but they had 15 turnovers to our 10 and most of theirs turned into layups for us. We got up 10 more shots so hard for them not to circle that as a big issue tonight.
-
and our open-court scoring off of TOs was huge… especially against a top-notch defense like OSU. We played so much better offense in the open court.
-
@drgnslayr yes I think this team should push the tempo more often.
-
The trigger for us pushing tempo is off a steal or bad shot.
-
-
Udeh had some good moments but channeling his inner Jeff Graves with 5 fouls in 13 minutes. I still remember Graves having 2 fouls in 36 seconds one time lol

That’s a pretty normal thing for big men under Self to struggle with fouls early on in their careers. Part of it is likely because of the number of bodies Self can throw out there, especially if the player doesn’t have to play big minutes in that game.
-
Tonight was KU’s best offensive performance of the year against one of the top defenses in the conference. 17 combined assists from Harris and McCullar tonight has to be the stat of the night for me this game.
-
@drgnslayr OSU made a bunch, and I mean a bunch of head scratching jr. high like passes. Guys would just turn around and throw it right into our guys hands. Our guys then said “Thank you very much Mr. Cowboy” and then threw it to Gradey who’d make another 3. There had to be 6 or 7 like that. Had KU been doing that I might’ve broke the TV watching.
-
@wissox the one they threw right to joe as he and his man were running down the sideline was the biggest head scratcher.

Very nice to watch this “are the blue bloods in trouble??” Segment on SVP and we’re chilling as a 1 seed as of now
Feels good to have the definitive best active coach in the game too.

Really fun rematch with Baylor coming to the Phog on Saturday. Our guys have changed and improved a lot since the last meeting. KJ only scored 4 and the bench/Rice contributed just 2 pts. Also, Harris played 36 min but only scored 2 pts. Gradey’s 24 pts. and Jalen’s 23 pts. were our only significant contributors. So, I expect much more scoring from KJ and Harris on Saturday, and a couple guys off the bench will contribute enough to beat the Bears. I think I saw that Game Day was coming to Lawrence for the game. Fun, fun, fun, but KU must win this rematch.

He won’t sniff COY but he really should be. People be sleepin
-
The OSU locker rooms look like Jr high locker rooms. Pretty crappy, but I’ve got to assume the home team side is much nicer. - Does anyone know what the visiting lockeroom looks like in Allen Fieldhouse? Is it a dungeon as well?
-
Sending you love, brother, and to your TV! lol
I hope our defense was by intention. We played a different defense. Instead of players gluing onto the other team’s players, they played the gaps more. It often looked like a hodge-podge but it often works for steals. They threw those passes halfway thinking their other guy was open then our gap players stepped in. Works well except on players like Bryce who can get a shot off quickly and burn us from trey.
Makes me think Self dialed it up because he knew this game was important and would be a tough win.

Should have won every coaching award last year but I’ll take the title.

Oh wow, that’s awesome. It used to be so hard to find this info. Often involved going on sites not in english.
-
Dave putting up 10 and 7 in Turkey.
-
I remember Jay Wright making a comment at the end of the OU game about how Bill is setting Gradey up with shots for the next game. He has a career high the following game. Wright is a wizard lol
-
Well I hear interview with Kevin, was asked about his ankle - -said it wasn’t an upper thing it was a lower ankle , and was asked if he was worried abut the possibility of missing the Baylor game --he said NO I’m playing. --2nd person late asked about him not plaing and he said --were good, then said everyone wil be ready and should be able–guess he was talking about Juan there too

Always nice to get out of Stillwater with a win. Self has to be pleased.
Very impressed that Gradey has been involving himself in all corners of the court. And he did some scoring! awesome.
And if McCullar can post up, get to the rim, that changes my expectations for him. He played well last night, too.
I’m grateful that Joe made a few shots. Anybody met or covered Joe as a reporter? I’m wondering if he’s an intelligent kid. Just doesn’t seem like he’s very smart for some reason.

I’m not sure how apparent it is but most teams in the conference are trying incredibly hard to take Gradey out of games. Massively overplaying him, face guarding etc… And well, if you don’t he can just go nuclear on you but point being it really opens things up for other guys. A big adjustment Self then made is running a ton of pick and roll. If teams try to counter that then we go back to Gradey getting looks. Pick your poison.
