Other Games Tonight

I read their blog, just read it. I think they have given up. Lost coaches and lots of transfers. Teddy buckets didn’t get cleared, weird they thought he would. Closer to Nebraska for his support group? Man do they hate us!
I was listening to a Wichita radio station sports talk show earlier this morning. Of course they were crying about WSU’s most recent loss (and WSU’s entire season), complimenting KSU and saying they would get to KU later. But then, they brought up SDS and said that KU is now willing to admit wrong-doing and plans to “draw a line in the sand” with the NCAA as to when SDS will play again. They went on to compare the Teddy Buckets failure to get a waiver so he could play after he transferred from West Virginia to WSU to the SDS situation. They said WSU folks would be up in arms if SDS gets cleared when Teddy didn’t because SDS is guilty of wrong doing and Teddy made the “mature” decision to transfer closer to home (family in Nebraska) because he needed to get his life turned around. They didn’t mention that Huggy told him to explore other options nor did they mention any suspensions he’d received while at West Virginia. Sad WSU homies

Kentucky beats unranked 7-7 Texas A&M and unranked 9-6 Vanderbilt at home and moves up 6 spots in the latest AP poll.
Translation: 90% of the voters didn’t know both teams stink but they won so why not

The big name schools just about always get this treatment.

Old news now but Dook drops one to Syracuse at Cameron while being 17 point favorites. I just watched the highlights and the refs tried their damndest to give it to Dook. They were down one in the closing seconds and Zion got a foul call with absolutely zero contact. No one ever mention it again because its Dook but wow.
-
Jay Bilas did say “there wasn’t much there” which is about as good as your going to get with a duke alum

I watch the whole game, wasn’t poorly officiated imo.
Duke wins that game going away if Jones didn’t get hurt or Reddish isn’t sick. With both, might have won by 20. But you play the cards you’re dealt. Still goes down as a loss
It did show how lacking Dukes depth was. But it also showed how good Zion and RJ are that they can damn near win a game 2 on 5

Yeah the box score is crazy. Very little scoring production for most of them. White who is usually reliable from 3 couldn’t hit a barn. O’Connell had his best game of the season after playing like 1 minute against Florida St. Great individual performances mixed in by the future Top 3 picks in the draft have covered all the holes they have. I’ve been impressed (I hate to admit) that guys like Bolden, De Laurier, White have given them enough complimentary roles to be as good as they are
It makes you wonder what will prevail in March. 4 really good players such as Duke has or a team with depth etc like KU.
-
Less fouls, depth is partially negated by all the timeouts during the tourney. Still nice to have, but it’s harder to run teams into the ground.
-
@Kcmatt7 I didn’t watch any of it outside of highlights and what little bit before they started the KU game on ESPNNEWS. I’m just saying if KU got that call, it’d be all over the front page of every newspaper from here to china.

Playing through KC seems a lot less likely than I had thought to start the season.

The last time we played in KC we crapped our pants under pressure. I would be okay with Jayhawk Nation having to travel outside friendly territory if it meant this current squad would focus on the task at hand and not have some inherent pressure to play well close to home. Just a thought though.
-
I’m not a fan of the way KU plays in the Sprint Center. It’s a friendly crowd, but it’s definitely not like a home game.
-
@BeddieKU23 last time?
-
Duke will be a #1 seed. We know it right now. They are probably the best team overall as well.
-
@dylans we looked dang good in the big 12 tourney w/out doke. Didn’t we play Roy there? It’s all in your head

Self has 9 losses in the sprint center!

Where would Kentucky be without Hagans reclassing?

I don’t buy Duke being the best team overall a last night is why. They have no depth to deal with injuries or foul issues and Tre Jones misses the rest of the season, they won’t make a run. Even with Jones, I don’t think they win it this year.
Michigan would be my pick right now to win the title even against a completely healthy Duke team.
I would also put money on Tennesee and Gonzaga before Duke right now.
Duke is obviously one of the elite teams in the country and I wouldn’t be shocked if they did win the title this year, I just don’t think they’re the best team in the country right now because of their lack of depth.
I also wouldn’t have them being a 1 seed as a lock right now either. With the Tre Jones injury, I could see them drop a 2-3 more games. I don’t see them beating Virginia on Saturday and I could see them drop 3 of 4 to NC State, UNC, Syracuse, and VTech next month if Jones is still out or less than 100%.
That would drop them to the 2 line most likely with UVA, Tennessee, Michigan, and Gonzaga getting the 1 seeds. I think Duke, Kansas, Michigan St., and Nevada end up as the 2 seeds this year.

Oh boy…Huggy…
-
@BShark konate done for the year?
-
Wake Forest upsets North Carolina State tonight by 4. They were 9 point underdogs. Good for Danny!

@BShark I know he didn’t play.

@dylans It’s seems the Sprint Center goes thru streaks for us but I believe we have the best win percentage their other than AFH, we have won 4 more games there since that article and have a better win percentage than we did in Kemper. Winning over 80% of your games in building that isn’t your home court is pretty good when you think about it. I think the 2017 team just had too much pressure and flopped against Oregon after being so close to beating Nova the year before. I think people forget how much pressure these kids are under in the tournament especially as a 1 seed.
-
Wonder if the wheels are starting to come off of the bus in Morgantown, they now have a losing record and probably have to win the B12 tournament to get to the NCAA tournament.
-
@kjayhawks In bramblage and at Colorado.
The Sprint Center is ok, but it’s not home. I know the few games I make it back for I try like heck to go to Allen fieldhouse. There’s just no place like it. It’s also why I wish the NCAA would allow the early round games to be at the higher seeded teams home court. The body of work should be rewarded more. That would do it without having to go double elimination. But I digress…
-
Ugh hate seeing WVU lose by that much before playing KU at home. They will play out of their minds now.

They wouldn’t be a tournament team that’s for sure
-
Have you checked Saturday’s slate yet. Wisconsin at home against Michigan at noon, followed by KU @ Huggy Bear at 2… Has that ever happened before?

KU should win easily but…it’s on the road and this KU team never wins easily.
-
@BeddieKU23 Schedulers seem to frequently place one team before the other for me. Makes for a long day of viewing. The other night they were at the same time which sometimes happens too.
-
-
True, at least you can keep it on the same channel for 4 hours. Maybe you get lucky, Wisconsin gets a huge home win and KU gets a road win. best of both worlds for you
-
Saturday game at WVU is set up perfectly for WVU to get its mojo back at our expense.
-
@bskeet no way!
-
@BeddieKU23 Oregon would’ve beat us anywhere! I might add, with josh sitting on the bench.
-
I will never forget the game last year at WVU. I was driving from Tahoe to San Jose and trying to listen to the broadcast through my phone… We were down by 16 or 18 and then stormed back.
Huggy won’t forget either. I think we stole his bounty – er-- incentive – er – stipend twice last season.
-
KState waxing OU in Norman. They look good. With Wade back, they are going to be a problem.
-
Isu up on tt.
-
Thank you, Iowa State.
-
And down goes Tech at ISU, 68-64. At least Tech also lost there…
-
@Gorilla72 That was in Lubbock.
-
@mayjay - oops. But even BETTER!
-
Business as usual in the B12.
-
Nice work Clones. I hate you but I respect you.
-
We always get help it seems in winning these conference championships.
-
I thought Iowa St might get Tech but I thought it would be in Ames. I’m not going to say thank you to Iowa St. The best I can do is give a firm nod.
-
Didn’t expect that. Monday will be a BIG TIME game.
