@TYOHawk 100% agree - athletes who can shoot it! Feels like they grow on trees but not always easy to find.
I don’t have access to the article so was curious what you were saying - appreciate it
-
Jamille Reynolds’s to Cincinnati
-
Any word on Timberlake?
-
@RockkChalkk nope
-
I think we land him
I think we miss on Hunter and other top guys
Get Kev back and hope for a miracle on some guys pulling out of the draft late

Things are shapely up nicely with Shedrick if we miss on Hunter.

I think it’s about 60 /40 we land hunter and I don’t think Kevin will be back
-
@BShark I’m hoping for Sanogo or someone else. Shedrick would be okay but if he doesn’t have a back to the basket move he doesn’t move the needle much but some shot blocking ability defensively.
If we don’t land a few studs it will be tough to say Bill dominated the portal in a timeframe in which he should be “the guy” and KU the hottest name it’s ever been
-
@jayballer67 I hope you are right
From what I’m reading and the more I think about it we are being leveraged so he can get the most out of md or gtown and head up. Read md hired his high school coach and if relationships matter than he won’t come here.
He zoomed with uk and us just to up the ante with them. I think playing for KU, Self and knowing he’d be the number one option is only reason we are listed as a possibility compared to uk.
-
@RockkChalkk He’s visiting uconn next so all the guys with inroads to KU will say something like this
“Visit went great, he really connected with Self and had a great time with the players. Knows he’d fill a big role of shooting and has playing time here. Wants to finish his visits first but we are right in this and have as good a shot as anyone on his list.”
There you go pay me your $10/mo for that inside info
-
I think we get Kev back and land Hunter. The rest is a crapshoot. I just have a feeling on Cryer that doesnt make sense. I could easily see our third being someone we havent even heard about yet.
-

I’d have a hard time arguing with that.

Actually from what I read off Kentucky message board had an article from a guy that writes for the Spun. - -Yes he had a zoom with Kentucky & he had a zoom with Arkansas, but even with that said , they said that Kentucky & Arkansas were NOT considered to be his landing spot , and that it was KU -Villanova GTown & Maryland and them saying that KU actually was probably the simplest fit for him to transfer into. - -Having said that I still just think with him listing three out of the four front runners as they say - I just feel he will end up on the Coast
-
@RockkChalkk Cryer ain’t coming here - literally zero chance. I know what bshark has said but his crimson and blue glasses are tinted on this one.
Nowell just went off
Cryer loves Tang
Cryer wants to play point more than off ball
Ksu has open pg spot
Why are we still discussing this (sarcasm for it’s clearly over and he’s ksu bound lol)
-
Cryer is going to Houston. He and Tang aren’t close according to the grapes
-
I don’t want Cryer. He doesn’t compliment Dejuan well. Baylor was atrocious on defense last season with their collection of small guards and Cryer doesn’t help KU in that area because he would keep KU’s back court really small. He might be the best shooter in the portal, but other than that, nothing else in his game compliments what KU needs this offseason.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 but if we had Juan, Kev, and Hunter, three high level defenders, maybe we would be better off with a lesser defender that beings that offensive firepower on the perimeter we would be lacking. It may not be that bad of a fit.

Hunter is a rim protector and can’t defend away from the basket. Getting him and Cryer in a pick and roll situation would not be good, especially if KU doesn’t have a good help defender at the 4 spot. Without knowing what the situation at the 4 spot is or if McCullar will be back, I don’t see Cryer being a great fit here until we know what else will be in place for the rotation.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 if he could play D I’d be on board. KU is jaded by our 2017 small backcourt that just choked in kc.
Meanwhile Fau’s is all guys under 6-5 and they are good
Baylor’s title team started 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 and 6-4 (Teague)

Cryer is EXTREMELY likely going to Houston. I actually have a lot of details on this one.

My gut says Maryland after a dog and pony show.

He’s going to Houston almost assuredly. We did however raise the price.
-
@BShark That really sucks but seems to be the writing on the wall
Figures regarding lj
Definitely not shay just read enough message board fodder since college - only so much “inside” guys can say. No one truly knows until the kid actually commits.
-
Just want to say i love all the discussion here and everyone brings great insight and opinions. And thank you for allowing me to share mine from time to time. Appreciate you all very much. Hopefully our hawks reload and put together another title contending team for 2023.

KU could easily pay the rumored amount for Cryer so I assume there are fit issues. Plus not everything is about money.
-
@BShark Yeah he isn’t coming here even if we are offering the most
Houston to be this years Sasser Or ksu (sounds like not going to happen as I’d guessed with zero inside info)

The fit issues I assume are pretty much what I described above along with him supposedly wanting to be a lead guard which isn’t happening over Harris. There are better fits than Cryer out there for what KU needs in a 2 guard.

How do you feel about Kalib Boone? @BeddieKU23 @Kcmatt7 @FarmerJayhawk @kuballin10 @TYOHawk
-
Certainly not our first option at this point.
I could make a case he was underutilized and underplayed in Boynton’s system. Only averaged 16 mpg his career there.
His good days are really good. Seems to have always had trouble being consistent (again was that the system, PT)
Efficient, can block shots, make FT’s. Not a perimeter shooter so obviously we love that.

Yeah definitely on and off. Would hope Bill would unlock him if it happens.
Depends on how quickly he moves, since I don’t see us doing anything until we get an answer from Hunter.
-
Wouldn’t be the worst option in the world. He can score and has plenty of experience in conference.
-
@BeddieKU23 yea it’s fine I guess. Certainly holding out hope for better.
-
If he needs his brother with him again it’s a hard pass for me though. I believe they are visiting UNLV next weekend along with Jalen Hill.
-
I know its early but I still have no idea what we are doing in the Portal.
-
@BeddieKU23 I’m trying so hard to not hit the panic button
-
Same, the worst is talking about all these guys to watch them to go to rivals or conference foes. I swear it’s happening on purpose.
While the portal doesn’t lack options, there’s been very few real top end guys and even fewer can’t miss fits for Self.
Still a good month at least to go. I’m just waiting for the first domino to fall so we can at least be optimistic. The life of a fan…
-
-
@BShark I have to think there is a wing the staff is zeroed in on that they know portals. Otherwise we’d be hearing more on some wings. And they wouldn’t have turned their nose up at Ingram so quickly.
-
@Kcmatt7 Right…

A thought.
You know it’s slim - -really slim probably , realistically BUT Kevin didn’t close the door completely about the chance of possibly returning. - He mentioned he was keeping his options open. It’s NOT beyond the realm of possibility that he could COME BACK is it Probable ? – PROBABLY NOT , but I guess we can never - - say NEVER
-
@Kcmatt7 As far as melting down goes, every single player we have added in the last three cycles that contributed really at all wasn’t added until May or later. Moss, JCL, Remy, Kevin. Joe and Cam were early guys.
-
Not sure if this kid has been mentioned in here or not. Saw it from the other site , poster mentioned that the staff should put feelers out to this guy. Think I might have to agree. Kid’s name is Brice Williams from Charlotte. - -6’7 Guard ( so really nice size ) shot 48 % from the field - - - 43 % from the 3 ( 4.1 attempts per game ) - - -84 % ft - - 5.3 rpg - -and 13.8 ppg - - sounds like he might be a solid get if they would look at him.
-
Generally, the best available players in the portal are going to be the ones that test the NBA waters and decide to return to school. Those kids don’t come available until late. If you look at an NBA draft board, look at the underclassmen in the 75-150 range. That’s where the best crop of transfers will come from and won’t be available until after Combine invites are handed out for those who don’t get an invite and after the Combine for those who do get invites, bit not the feedback they wanted as far as being an NBA level player yet. Those are the names to keep an eye on.
Hunter Dickinson is an exception to this as he is a NPOY candidate in the right system and why it sounds like he’s the only player Self and staff have aggressively pursued so far in the portal.
-
Send to staff 6-7 and can shoot it oh and see 14 seconds in that dunk….uconn took a guy from ecu and move up didn’t hurt

Don’t understand why we wouldn’t go after Julian Phillips if he enters the portal. Team desperately needs wing talent and primo spears coming seems like a total waste of a limited scholarship if cuffe doesn’t leave

Well we both agree that this kid might be somebody they need to check out
-
@jayballer67 No clue why they haven’t already. Check every box listed unless someone will throw out some defensive metrics they claim make him look bad.
