So I don’t even know if we are entertaining the idea or not, as Coach said he was happy with his roster. Just curious - May 31st is the decision day right on players to make up their minds as if they are going to stay in the draft or withdraw isn’t that right ?
So IF there were an interest, Nelson has until then to decide if he is staying in the Draft or withdraw ?
I think he would be the ONLY player left we would add now . - kinda think that chance is pretty slim

Well just saw Andrew Slater tweet. - -Looks like Alabama has now entered the picture for Udeh. – I think w lost a blooming future stud , he would of been the perfect stick with Hunter share time this year -THEN next year would of been all Udeh - -Think were gonna miss him

Personally watching Udeh run from adversity makes me really appreciate Isiah Pacheco’s attitude. Day one in training camp he said he was there to take a grown man’s job…and he did. Udeh on the other hand is look for an easy path to playing time as opposed to taking it. Funny thing is there are only 12 people on the world that have a legit chance to play for the Jayhawks, but that wasn’t enough.
Color me disappointed. Udeh is talented, he just needs to refine his craft.

This is where I’m at with it and I also think Self made the correct decision. We needed to add a star in the portal and it wasn’t going to be at PG so the 5 spot made sense. Didn’t really see any star level wings in there.

While I agree they are trying to make the NBA I wonder what their thoughts on when that’s happening because it’s hard to project for either that’s happening in the next 2-3 years. Their position isn’t something GM’s are wasting Top 20 picks on unless you have some serious intangibles & potential.
Personally I think they left the best situation they will both have going forward but that’s their decision to live with at the end of the day.

How can you blame either for leaving. They were essentially going to be limited to 10mpg for the next two years.
I don’t think it makes guys soft. Competitors want to play. It is hard to accept a bench role, I don’t care who you are.

I don’t blame them for leaving. I just expect very little of their future given their reaction to the situation.

I know he is 6’11 but would there be any way he could play a 4 ? - - he got range on the floor. - -I just don’t think a guy thats that highly sought after would be willing to come sit behind hunter. Yet if we could land him , get him to player the 4 - you have 7’1 hunter at the 5 - - Nelson at 6’11 at the 4 - - both averaged almost double figure rebounding - -Any chance at ll he could play the 4 ? - -pull out the NI

I’m hoping this recruitment moves fast. I assume Nelson’s team has been vetting teams while he was doing the combine stuff.
Love that he got to spend a ton of time with Jalen and Gradey during the draft process.
How this plays out with his academics and NIL stuff will be interesting to watch. I’ve felt like this was the domino left to fall for awhile. KU is such an ideal fit for him imo. Trying to not get my hopes up, but man he is the final piece.

he is not hee yet - although a guy that kind of has inside I think -sys he thinks he believes KU is someone to keep an eye on in this

if nelson was a legit shooter it would be like the grizzlies front court of having Jaren Jackson as the rangy floor spacing 4 who can protect the rim.

@Crimsonorblue22 Pretty sure he is being facetious…we all know quality transfers can really do great! It is just bizarre to claim that they could only do well if they just are willing to wait another year or two.
Not sure their only concern is the NBA, though. Being a starter somewhere gives them huge exposure for eventual play internationally where the game hasn’t devolved to the 1-on-1 isolations now dominating the NBA. Traditional centers have a future overseas.

@BShark To me if you go to a blue blood, you should expect to be recruited over to an extent. They go after the best players every year, to me its common sense.

Playing next to Juan, Kev, Morris/Jackson, and KJ also will increase it.
Hard to watch his tape and not be impressed. I’m a huge numbers guy, but the talent is there in this case.

Bill is not one to pocket a scholarship, much less essentially two. Sort of surprising to me if true. Also surprised Bill is okay being this thin at the 5 spot.

I would assume yes. Based on the numbers I am hearing (grain of salt) Kevin was more expensive.
Also TIFWIW but I have heard Parker is actually going to play and that we like him.

Could bolster the roster and be unstoppable but settles.
That’s not taking KU to another level. Getting Nelson takes KU to another level.

KJ will start though I will bet anything on it. I think I mentioned it before but I think Bill will get away from it eventually but it will take at least 15 games imo.

Why? Even if you think the offense will be hot garbage with KJ at the 4 spot, this team doesn’t have to be great on offense because this will be an elite defensive team with Harris, Morris, McCullar, KJ, and Dickinson because Harris, Morris, McCullar, and KJ are all above average to elite level defenders. Teams are going to struggle to score 65 points against KU next season so KU doesn’t have to be the highest scoring team next year to be really good.

The defense would be elite…but the offense would need Morris to live up to all recruiting expectations
