Penn’s Jordan Dingle expected to portal.
Best guard rumored to enter outside of Murrell imo. Guy can fill it up and get his own. Efficient scorer putting up 23ppg on 16 shots. Finishes in the lane. Draws a lot of fouls. Makes his free throws. Will be coveted.
Can’t find a better fit at the 2
-
Toledo’s RayJ Dennis in the Portal, another big time scorer. MAC player of the year. Avg 19.5pts, 4.3 boards, 5.8 assists on 48% shooting, 36% from 3.
-
Utah Valley’s Aziz Bandaogo in the Portal. 7 foot Soph avg 11 and 10 with 2.9 blocks per game

also would take! Plays bigger than he is. All over the court. Rebounds, assists, steals. Guy can play. Has KILLER post game actually lol.
I’d probably prefer Dingle’s ability in ISO situations. But I have to say that Rayj sort of fits the “share the ball” attitude good Bill Self teams have.

I know nothing and can’t see much “film”. But those numbers are intriguing.

Loved both of their films. If we are not reaching out with serious intent I don’t know anything anymore

Definitely intriguing, his game log was a stat stuffer. Some decent efforts against decent teams (Cincinnati, BYU among them). 7 foot, 215 pounds though which would not fit our traditional body at the 5. He’s a lot like Udeh, rim runner, excellent athletic ability (big time lob guy), instinctual shot blocker.
-
Ok I know you’ve heard this before so don’t shoot the messenger: Dickinson wrote a farewell message to Michigan fans last night and said he would announce his team today, Thursday. By the way, Kyle Cuffe entered the portal yesterday too. Coincidence? Fingers crossed today(and probably beyond). RC
-
I think the Cuffe news was more in relation to Mgbako optimism but none the less we have room for both without issue. Bill has gone full savage

You like our chances with Mgbako ? - -I think we got a legit shot. - -Friend of mine said he ha heard he could announce tomorrow. - -If that’s true then he canceled his visits to Indiana & Louisville -would be smooth
-
Roster could use a 4. Come on down Mackenzie!
-
Seems like I should like our chances here. I’m just out here winging it

Sounds like he will take the Indiana visit but not Louisville. And you bet your butt Adidas got involved here.

so now then probably not happening what we thought might happen tomorrow
-
Dam I would of much rather preferred he didn’t take anymore visits

So a week from today is the portal deadline. But a key thing there, it’s just for undergraduates. Grad transfers have no set timelines to enter the portal. So if a guy has entered the draft, graduated, and wants to return to college, he can withdraw and enter the portal immediately. Not sure if this will apply to anyone we’re interested in, but worth knowing anyway.
-
@BShark should we hold the line and feel confident or is the confidence waning
-
@kuballin10 I think the tomorrow stuff was premature. KU would obviously love it but it’s not a dealbreaker or anything.
-
Well kind of a downer I was jacked hoping would be a great way to end the week - -but if his visit went sa really good as been hearing, guess it probably won’t matter. Still think were in great shape huh ? - -hope turns out well
-
Good info as always
-
Crazy this roster totally turned over and it’s still not even closed to finished given potential departures and adds. Like this is potentially more turnover than after that 2021 season where we had to get “more athletic”
-
So are people still thinking Zuby or Udeh transfers out ? - - no need as we have one Scholi left and the one I know we are really serious on is Mackenzie. - -I hate the thought one or the other of them leaving - -adds really good depth

Seems to be a given that one of them leaves. They just added a guy who’s playing at least 30 minutes a game and both were top 50 recruits that probably wanted an increased role at the very least.

Yep. I think ultimately he will be a Jayhawk.

Yep. Do we want them to transfer? No. Would I blame one of them for transferring? Also no. One of them is looking at being last on the depth chart…

I’m fascinated to see what we will do to fill that scholarship if it becomes available. Maybe just leave it ticketed for someone coming back from the draft?

I’m sure we will try, but my guess is we end up with roster filler. We won’t have a starting spot to sell.
-
I’m going to be pissed if Udeh leaves… already showed signs of elite defense, and we could have three more years of that guy instead of one year of a transfer money grabber. Yuck.

Gonna have to be picky now given the scholarship reduction and the fact that transfers can’t do it twice now. Don’t want to be stuck with someone.

Yeah. If the Utah Valley kid will be eligible I like him a lot. Note: I’d rather keep Udeh if at all possible.

I understand that just hate to see good kids that develop during their 4 years. have seen it over and over with Bill --Sad that there has to be someone that loses in these situations.

that’s actually a great call. Hold him for a year and then he starts when Hunter leaves if he doesn’t get the waiver. That being said he entered the portal and immediately talked about mental health so we’ll see on that.

Zuby is a better overall defender than Udeh.
-
I can see us taking a look at papa kante if zuby or udeh leave. Four star recruit and a guy who played with elmarko this year
-
I’d love for Udeh and Zuby to stay and develop, similar to Dave M trajectory.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 On the block, sure I’ll give you that.
Swatting or altering shots or stealing it - no.
Eye test says give me Udeh all day with the higher ceiling. He can go catch lobs Zuby just can’t get to.
-
Udeh has so much untapped potential. All he needs is coaching. He was so raw at the beginning of the season, he was unplayable. By the end he was a contributor. In year three he would be a star- Udeh just needs an opportunity to play and some patience.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 udeh is much longer though, higher ceiling. Zuby wont be an elite shot blocker.
-
All moot now. Hardly knew ye Zuby
-
Pure insanity at this point
-
@approxinfinity said in 2023 Transfer Portal:

Longer doesn’t necessarily mean a higher ceiling or better shot blocker because Zuby did have a significantly higher block rate than Udeh. Zuby just wasn’t as flashy or make the highlight plays that Udeh did. Doesn’t matter now though obviously.

Is there any chance that McCullar comes back?

@dylans said in 2023 Transfer Portal:

Very slim BUT maybe depends on how his NBA tryouts go. - -Got invited to the Combine I think
-
@dylans said in 2023 Transfer Portal:

If McCullar is very likely to get a two-way contract, he won’t be back. If his feedback is that it’s very unlikely he’d get a two-way contract, then that’s when there becomes an increased chance If him withdrawing from the draft.
Based on where most mocks have him ranked, he’s got a pretty good shot at getting a two-way deal with some team.
-
Not to be negative, but I’m curious. When McCullars transferred in, it was partially the “atmosphere of family” that drew him. This coming year there are 3 returning players. I’m wondering how HCBS will create that again with all the new guys. Puerto Rico will help but what the team had last year was because they bonded over a couple of years.
