1/2 game down now technically. Equal losses now, but Baylor has one more win.
Got it. Thx.

Why was the clock running on a made shot?
We lost like 10 seconds

Gotta hit FT.

natives getting nervous

2 poss. Game
-
Can we get those 10 seconds back?
-
Good foul, KJ. That was going to be another dunk
-
Jamie spends more time on the floor than Weber, and that’s not easy to beat
-
Lets see if TCU starts to tighten.
-
Yesufu is down
-
You couldn’t ask for a better look for a 45% shooter
-
Wish we would have played them in January instead
-
Oof.

This isn’t the postponed game, that’s Thursday nights game.
-
Micah Peavy can come play here next season if he wants
-
Man oh man.
-
Baugh kid is clutch from the line.
-
@approxinfinity he’s still the best shooter We are getting beat and they are shooting 20% from three
Tcu just grown man’d us just like usc…we will go 5 losses in a row in the ncaa tourney by double digits at this rate.
2020 obviously screwed us
When Bill brings back McCormick and starts him and Juan next year might as well not watch because Och will be gone and this team minus Och is scary to think about
-
Blew it
Good night

In the immortal words of Lloyd Bridges, I picked the wrong time to stop sniffing glue
-
@Kcmatt7 won’t know the system or defend properly so he won’t get but 5 minutes a game
-
Well see ya next time around.
-
I just don’t see much toughness with this team. Gonna have to win our last two now. Put ourselves in a difficult spot.
-
Back on the treadmill Thursday. RCJH
-
Not sure the content we get is worth paying for espn+ anymore.

You sound like parrot, get some new material. All of your posts are 1 of 3 things, find something different to bitch because that’s all you do. Dejuan sucks, Self screwed the team up, round of 32 exit, that’s all you ever say.
-
KU shot like shit tonight period.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 let me know when it’s not applicable
-
Goodnight, all. Should be a much better result Thursday.

If you say so Toucan since you’re the greatest basketball mind walking the earth.

To summarize… Dave missed more bunnies than TCU made 3pt shots.

that’s cause there isn’t any toughness on this team. A big part of rebounding as one aspect is all about want to - -who on this team wants to - -cause it get’s pretty physical - -who on this team likes physicality? - Tell me

You’re right.
We had a brief discussion yesterday about what sorts of teams we’d like to avoid in the tourney. Some mentioned athletic bigs, others mentioned a big PG. For me, it’s all dependent on how physical the game is allowed to get.
We saw it against Texas and against TCU last night that when we get pushed around we can’t or won’t push back. The only fire I saw was the :26 seconds of Zack when he got in the face of the TCU player that raked him across the face. Then he had to leave to get his wounds tended to.
Other than that, I saw lots of pointless dribbling, even from Och who I suppose was trying to create his shot, but still. I saw CB almost afraid to take a shot and Harris was unable or unwilling to drive among the trees. Wilson seemed a bit aggressive, but you can’t do it alone. We were timid, no doubt about it.
I don’t want to make this a referendum on Remy, but he’s been back two games and we’ve lost both. I’ve gone on record that I like Remy, but coming back this late in the season when we seemingly had found a groove is more of a distraction than a help, IMO.
Anyway, I hope Zack gets rewarded for his :26 seconds of aggressiveness with some substantial PT on Thursday.
Two winnable home games coming up and we can claim another title. Hope we dig deep and fight for it, because I didn’t see much fight in the game last night.
-
I’ve mentioned different kinds of toughness before. Mental and physical.
I thought we were pretty good in both areas in Waco, but we went cold and lost.
I missed the second half of last night’s game (lucky me). But I imagine we just played flat and without inspiration. The first half was flat.
I’m an old fart. A baby boomer. We come ready for everything. I’m even psyched to go to the dentist.
I will never understand college basketball today and watching players not prepared to leave blood on the court. Do they not realize that this is the legacy they will leave behind? Imagine carrying this all forward in life where people (and you) talk about your playing days and what will they say?
BTW: I’m not just directing this at our guys. It’s a phenomenon all through college basketball. I like our team and think they do better than many teams out there… just not enough to be consistently dominant.
I’m holding onto hope for March… just hoping this all clicks inside of them and they figure out how to come out with a burning, relentless desire every game!
-
@tis4tim @drgnslayr All great points. To my simple brain, it seems when we play a team that really defends aggressively, especially the 3 pt line, we struggle a bit.
Even more so when Och is bottled up.
To me, that’s when we really need a guy like Remy to step up and break down the defense.
-
I don’t know enough psychology to dispute what you say. I don’t think we play flat but we seem to play tentative and confused about how to score. It’s not being inept but more like a lack of aggression. We seem to lack sharpness in our passing and forget the fact we are supposed to score. Don’t bemoan a trey attempt early in possessions. I thought CB passed up several open looks and Daj says I ain’t gonna take a shot and chance a miss. J3L is an example of just let it fly along with Och. Harris needs to keep driving down hill and chuck it up all the time. I don’t see them acting discouraged but maybe reluctant to play freely. We seem on the brink of being blown out tooooo much for my liking. The Kentucky and Texas games show that many teams can smack us around and make us like it. I don’t see an answer at this time.
YUCK!

Now I know you’re lying! J/K, @drgnslayr. Thanks for the chuckle. I needed that this morning.

This.
Goes back to my comment about how tightly wound Self tends to be at times and to those who have made comments over the years about the short leash certain players have with him at the helm.
Whether he knows it or not, the players sense that pressure and tend to play not to make mistakes rather than just playing. This has been an issue as long as Self has been here, IMO. And the more gravity the game has, the more it seems to be an issue.
Say what you want about Bobby Knight chucking a chair across the court or Roy Williams shedding his sport coat and winging it into the fourth row, but those antics can certainly take the pressure off and, in a rather odd way, lighten the mood so to speak. I’m not suggesting Self rip out his hair and mop up floor sweat with it (though I’d love to see that), but I’d like to see him work on his poker face during pressure-packed games.

I wonder if Bill isn’t losing the team. Never have seen such a listless effort. Maybe it’s because they’re tired…I’m not sure.

The only way I worry about this is if guys feel like Remy doesn’t deserve to be playing. Otherwise this team has played hard all season long. Not sure why now (other than the Remy situation) they would decide to quit.

I kinda wonder myself. - I think it was coming close to boiling point last night - with all the subbing he couldn’t find the right one and I think he is getting really frustrated with the effort of multiple players
-
KU is in the midst if playing 4 games in 8 days and could potentially play up to 7 games in 15 days. This team is also dealing with injuries with Dave being the most important injury right now. These players are also not used to playing that many games in that short of a time frame because that’s an NBA type schedule. It’s also possible all 7 of those games come against NCAA tournament teams as well. That’s a brutal stretch and load management is important when dealing with a team that’s less than 100%

I agree but then we should have just decided to punt the Baylor game and save everything for TCU and Texas. But we came out smoking against Baylor and it probably surprised everyone. To put in the effort we did on both sides of the ball only to lose with our full schedule was probably not optimal.
-
Reading the obituaries for our team, and the bizarre psychological assessments that wandered all the way to HCBS losing the team, I guess we should just stop watching and give up. Maybe next year should be better.
@drgnslayr I don’t get psyched to go to the dentist but I admit I always leave blood there!
-
@Kcmatt7 The last time we lost back to back games by double digits was back in 2003. Something was missing last night- worst offensive output of the year, manhandled on the boards- this was Kentucky all over again. Now, we could easily come back, and win by 20 against them on Thursday, and throttle Texas as well. But we have to fight much harder than what we showed the last 2 games.
-
@mayjay We’re crying about the team, and you’re crying about us. We will be fine. We will stomp them on Thursday, and we’ll be happy again. It’s not fatal- I think we had a lost weekend on a Tuesday night. It looked to me like the team quit on Coach for that game. It happens. It happened last year against USC. You’re telling us to get over it- you get over it. Let us mourn for a day, for gosh sakes. It’s been 18 years since we have been smashed like this- these things take time.
-
Ha… me, too!
I’m not letting the remaining year performance get me too down. Obviously, I hope we do well. But the world is crumbling while there is beautiful, warm sunshine outside. I have my focus where it needs to be!
