Can we break the curse tonight?

Remy may play with a knee injury
Dave is most certainly playing hurt and has been benched for poor play
Agbaji in his last 2 games is averaging only 13.5ppg
Our bench scored as many points as the starters in the George Mason game.
Our annual road game to Stillwater has always been the thorn in Selfs side he can never get rid of.
Oklahoma St doesn’t have a Cade Cunningham, they are not great by any means but it’s the Hawks first road game of the season and it’s going to be difficult to win.
Thoughts?

What is HCBS’s record at Ok St through the years?
-
I expect Och to bounce back and Braun be Braun, could use some last game JCL in this one too to open things up. Yesufu needs to step up with Remy - if he even plays - being nowhere near a hundred percent.

Looks like 6-8 if I counted correctly going back through the years.

Odds that it is a sellout??? Remember it’s their super bowl and every other Big 12 team wants to see us lose. Has Mitch ever won there?
The Cowboys earned win No. 13 against the Jayhawks since 2000 last season, which is tied for the most during that time span in the country. That victory in Stillwater ended the Jayhawks’ 11-game conference winning streak on the road, which was the longest in Big 12 history.

@BeddieKU23 say what now about Dave playing hurt?
-
I feel like Oklahoma State and West Virginia are the two road venues where KU just does not play well, regardless of how good or bad the individual teams are. I’m not even sure its an issue of being prepared. Maybe this year is different because its the conference opener, but with this season lacking a real rhythm so far, anything is possible. Literally any outcome is possible.

There’s no way he was 100% last game. He tweaked the ankle weeks back and certainly doesn’t look like he is able to be as athletic as he can be (which isn’t saying a lot to begin with) but it’s noticeable lately. I don’t know what’s going on with him but it’s now to the point self is not starting him so it’s definitely an issue whether it’s physical or mental or both
-
Remy will play tonight. Big. I don’t think we can win without him on the floor

I just hope we are not risking more serious injury by rushing back , would hate to lose him 2 , 3 , 4, games for one.
-
Always a risk. No structural damage so likely he just needed some rest. If he can play then he should. We certainly need him, beyond a doubt.
-
6-8 is Selfs record in Stillwater. Also 3-6 in Morgantown. Only teams with a losing record
-
The advantage we have is that Bill seems to save things for B12 play and crank it up. Hopefully he has saved a few easy buckets and set plays from getting on tape by not playing TCU and Colorado.
Could learn a lot about how the rest of the season goes from tonight’s game
-
Well one guy we know we can play well on the road is Remy Martin. ASU beat us in AFH in 17-18 and Remy scored 21 points on 8-11 shooting and had 5 steals. Need him to play well. Hopefully the fact that we have a lot of upperclassman means that the team can stay poised tonight and come out of Stillwater with a win. I wish we had played at Colorado before we played this one.

That set that got the lob from Harris to Mitch right down the middle was sick. And the more I’ve watched it I’m not even sure how to guard it better because Braun, Och, and JCL were spreading the floor and any help off one of those guys could have been 3 points instead of 2. Hoping to see more looks that utilize all 5 players as a threat. You know self has a few more tricks up his sleeve and the out of bounds plays haven’t even started kicking in I feel like.
Bet we see at least one lob to Och on a back door screen this game to punish the inevitable pressure OSU will bring.
-
We do all know that Bryce hits like 5 threes tonight

Can’t wait

Can’t wait to see him brick 5
-
Does OSU have any other “three” shooter?
-
I’m scared
-
I hope Remy can go 30. I think we’re a much better team with 2 point guards on the floor. Everything flows better- we play faster, Och and Braun get wide open looks, and we can get out and run. We looked like last year last game.

No they are a poor 3 pt shooting team actually with just 58 made in 11 games.
Anderson, the guard Boone brother, Bryce and Williams have made 9 to 12 each on the season with similar amount of attempts.
Knowing this game though we certainly have a tendency to let an OSU team play above their pay grade
-
Sounds ambitious him getting 30 after sitting a game. Only way I see it is him living at the ft line and making a bunch of 3’s which we shouldn’t expect a favorable whistle
-
I think Remy will play maybe 15 or 18 minutes. Yesufu is going to see extended time tonight. Hope he steps up.

They really can’t shoot, but you know someone will pop off for them tonight.
-
So Beddie, did we break the curse? I mean it put a mysterious demons inspired lid on our basket but the incantations of the faithful, chanting rock chalks, and or uttering oaths and epithets, plus the threats and rages of the god of KU himSelf, we pulled through.

Close!
