Think we were run out of our gym last year by Kentucky, and my guess is many thought the sky was falling. Throughout the season many were negative towards Big Dave and different aspects of the team. A loss like yesterday hurts our pride, but I’m sure Coach Self will use it to bring about a great deal of improvement in a variety of ways.

RE: Arterio Morris is a Jayhawk
Is the negative attention nationwide or only on this site? I would guess that many of the kids playing college sports come with some kind of risk. I would also. think that when a court decision is made then a decision will be made on his playing or not. Let’s not be judge, jury and executioners since we know only what the media has chosen to give us.

RE: Exhibition Game Tonight
Wasn’t attempting to compare him to Frank, and I don’t think a leader needs to be a beast offensively. Interesting how some were ready to clear a space for new title trophy and banner a few months back, but after two exhibition games are bashing almost every. player.

The final score of this experimental game was 1-0.

RE: Hangover II Game Thread
Even though it wasn’t in the plans, he has spent 4 years here and probably has a deep appreciation for the program and all surrounding it. This place has been his family for four years, and he realizes that the end of all it has been to him is near.

RE: Finishing out the season
Bryce’s speed at getting the ball up the court was outstanding. It causes numerous good things to happen.

RE: Bryce Thompson & Okie St
Seems almost all of us are pulling for Dave and Wilson to put things together. Dave has definitely had a few good minutes but certainly not very many. It has to frustrate the other players when he misses point blank shots or loses the handle. In my opinion Wilson at this time does not fit at all with the team. He seems to have little connection to the others who seem to try all they can to pick him up.

RE: Exhibition Game Tonight
Once these guys figure out who the leader on the floor is, they will be fine. Last year was easy with Jalen taking over.

RE: Other bball games
@kuballin10 Certainly wasn’t ignoring the fact that the game was played in AFH. Simply stating that KU had the ability to play at a championship level when you consider who all we beat this year. Something definitely was lacking when we went on the road. In our world today, it seems too many people quickly jump on the bandwagon (whether it’s positive or negative). Look at the Chiefs. Everyone bashing them until they finally figured out it was ok for the defense to be the leader. It would be interesting to go back and look at comments earlier in the season after the big wins.

RE: My crisis of faith in Bill
@Jhawk69 Wasn’t there something about some of the other players telling HCBS they wanted Landen?

RE: My crisis of faith in Bill
@SlimShaddy54 Good point. A true leader will not only take control of things but will not be afraid to get in a teammate’s face (literally &/or figuratively). I definitely do not see that attribute. Easy to talk a good game and leadership but extremely difficult to actually do it.

RE: My crisis of faith in Bill
Many interesting and some valid points have been raised. It’s so easy to look for mistakes, issues, etc. in coaches and players, especially when we certainly have been spoiled throughout the years. Chemistry is such a huge part of any team; this team right now doesn’t seem to have tons of it. Also seem to be similar to the past couple years in that we’re not very mentally or physically tough. Hard to believe that no one has brought up how bad David McCormick was several years ago and how HCBS protected him. Too soft to be a big winner. Seem to recall Remy was not too highly thought of either for a good part of the year.

RE: WKRP in Cincinnatti
@kjayhawks Today was a perfect example of what you’re saying. Our offense wasn’t very good until the last 6-8 minutes but our defense kept us in the game. Granted, Cincy shot poorly but I like to think we had a lot to do with that.

RE: Other bball games
Guess I’d stick with ours. When is the last time KU had a losing record? How many times in the past 25 years have we lost 10 or more games? Three losing seasons in a row for them at one point.

RE: Other bball games
@kuballin10 UConn only lost 3 games this year; who in the heck was able to beat them??

RE: Other bball games
@jayballer67 I think there were games earlier in the season where we were fluid and really got up and down the court. Something caused a loss of confidence especially on the road. Were we soft? Probably. Were we a cohesive unit? For the most part no, and I go back to earlier when I said that is probably due to having only a few players who have been in Coach Self’s system for 2 or more years. I would think that picking players from the portal has made it more difficult than ever to put together the right pieces.

RE: 2023-2024 Statistics
@dylans 21+year old is quite different than an 18-19 year old in many ways. I understand that Bobby Knight while at Indiana worked with a sports psychologist to develop a test that was then given to a kid before Knight would recruit him. This helped determine whether or not the kid would be able to function under him. Probably wasn’t fool proof but it probably saved some problems over the years.
