@Kcmatt7 I wasn’t. All is not well at UK, last year proof enough for me. And they play in a fairly weak conference, and could not beat anyone.
I’m not quite sure that I could agree with you even saying they in a fairly weak Conference. - I think they got a Solid conference, not exceptional but don’t think fairly weak is correct either.
When you look at things yes you can say projected , BUT you could say the same thing about our conference and projections.
According to the different polls they have the following in the preseason top 25 : - - CBS- 5 - - USA - -5 - - AP - - 6 - -Coach’s- -5 that’s a pretty good representation in the projected top 25
Early Bracketology yes again just guesses BUT AGAIN the same thing can be said about our Conference but they have as follows - CBS - -7 teams projected in tourney - -& ESPN projected teams in the tourney also - - 7 expected - So to say fairly weak if this is how it is I would say that’s not even fairly weak. I would say that’s a solid Conference with some really good teams , we shall see how it plays out but at this point ummmm - - - -
-
I caught the highlights… UK looks not so good. I think this is another year for us to add many wins against them in the totals race!
-
@jayballer67 But the pre-season projections hardly ever pan out for the SEC though, do they?

maybe or maybe not. but usually have a solid conference, I just have to question the use of words weak or fairly weak. if it doesn’t pan out for them mostly because just like the Big 12 they beat up one another in Conference play.
For sure not a Super Conference not as strong as the big 12 BUT just have a hard time in believing that they are weak or fairly weak - -seems like yr after yr they are a solid conference you normally see decent numbers in the tourney
-
KU trails Kentucky by only 4 wins now. Remarkable really because it was not nearly that close recently. Not going to go back and figure it out, but I recall it being somewhere in the 30 something range 5-6 years ago.

I am thinking that it will too… You know, looking at his career, Calipari has never really had any league competition. UMass? Nope. Memphis? No. UK? Not really. I wonder - if he is still around - how he is going to feel in a few years about Beard owning both him and the SEC every season? Serious question.
UK’s record last year was what? That - with that talent while in that conference! - showcased a serious lack of coaching.
-
Never thought I would pull for Texas… especially now… but when you put it this way… heck yes! I’ll be thrilled if the blue nation turns burnt orange! lol
-
Terrance Shannon of Texas Tech is being held out while his eligibility is reviewed… Feels like they could have completed that well before November

First time Navy beat a Top 25 team since David Robinson was a Midshipman in 1986.

With school off tomorrow I drive down to the spectacular home of DePaul basketball to see them take on Coppin St. it’s on FS1 in case reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond aren’t exciting enough.
It’s the debut of Tyon Foster Grant for DePaul.
Juan Dixon was a great player for Maryland who beat us beat us in the ff of 2002. He’s the head coach for Coppin. Coppin lost by 60 to Loyola last night so I don’t know what to expect.
-
DePaul commits first violation of game at the 19:59 mark. Got to be a record
-
LOL TGF is the leading scorer but picked up his 2nd foul 6 minutes into it.
-
What’s your favorite TFG memory?
-
KSU might lose to Florida A&M.
-
It is it TGF?

Houston needed OT to beat Hofstra last night.
Bryce Thompson had 14 points in 25 minutes coming off the bench for OSU last night in a 43 point win over UTA.
Silvio DeSousa had 5 points and 5 rebounds in 11 minutes starting for UT-Chattanooga in an 11 point win over Loyola-Marymount on the road. He also had 4 fouls which limited his minutes.
Tristan Enaruna had 4 points in 17 minutes for ISU in an 11 point win over Kennesaw St.
-
K-State with an impressive 67-57 over Florida International - -just aww taking lol
-
@jayballer67 Mcguirl 0-6 with 3 points. I find this way too funny!
-
Tyon is not on the bench. Don’t know where he is.

Juan Dixon just got kicked out.

We get the great privilege if we want of watching Coach K’s last first game of the season in Cameron on the duke network aka espn.
-
@wissox when i was talking about coach K, my son asked me yesterday “who is coach K?” I told him that’s the right answer. He said “it’s not like anyone tells you Krzyzewski is spelled with a K” I assured him that I enjoyed hearing “who is coach K?” and will enjoy it when kids don’t know in the future as well.
-
@approxinfinity I think in some ways he’s a ‘victim’ of for whatever reason ESPN just decided that they would make Duke their favorite. I seriously doubt that ESPN knows how much Americans are tired of Duke and Coach K. It’s not quite hate because he hasn’t done anything to make Americans hate him. I’m just tired of him. The Duke whistle, the incessant fawning over him by media, the recruiting advantage they have, all of it just combines to cause Americans to just be so over him. But of course another year, and in game interviews, and halftime specials, and postgame interviews when our game is on and yada yada yada, ENOUGH!
-
@wissox quick hit responses
Does ESPN have its own interest in promoting K that he doesn’t have control over? Yes
Is he a victim? Absolutely not. He has been extremely privileged to get that positive attention and has benefited massively
Does the media attention make fans tire of K? Partially. But you have to recognize that ESPN promotes K because he’s unlikeable and divisive. He had those unlikeable qualities before ESPN latched onto him. It attracted them to him. Controversy sells.
Am I just tired of Coach K? No. I hate him and ESPN and see them as a symbiotic relationship between parasites.
-
@approxinfinity I guess the different viewpoint of who he is makes me say he’s a bit of a victim because I think ESPN has made Americans dislike him. The Duke Whistle, his fault? Maybe a little but not without complicit officials.
-
@wissox you may as well say ESPN is a victim too by that logic. They’re just trying to get clickbait and eyeballs. Aren’t we all victims? We the consumer aren’t responsible for their bullshit, because we don’t know any better and watch it.
I’m not buying the victim angle.
Coach K would be unlikeable even if there was no one there to watch him.
-
I think you are both letting your own dislike of him, and the KU history with Duke, color your perceptions of what American in general think. I have met dozens of people here in S Carolina who seem very mystified when I have talked negatively about the guy Jaybate called “Ratface.”
-
@mayjay I live in acc country. If you’re not a duke fan you hate Duke here.
-
In my younger days I had a Duke is a dog tshirt
-
@wissox K is not a victim, please let that go. He has victimized schools though, yeah I said it. He is a conniving snitch, period.
-
@wissox Saying Coach K is the victim is like saying straight white cis-gendered men are the most persecuted subgroup. Are there challenges? Sure. Are they comparable to the power they wield to affect change? Not at all.
-
Here’s a supercut of K being an asshole https://twitter.com/gifhawk2/status/1458237577568337921?s=21

Ummm K is by far no victim of anything , K is an intimidator to the officials for one. - - As soon as he thinks he is being treated un fair then watch how the calls sway for the rest of a game. - -ESPN kissing his ass doesn’t make him a victim by any means all they do is promote him. Last year was a very sweet year for sure Duke sucking last year and then Kentucky being bottom was just the cherry on top. - - I’ll be so glad when this K crap is over.- Sad to see all were going to see is high lights over every game for Duke this year and how they play rat face up at every game see really sad. be glad when he fades away in the Sun seet

think that pretty well sums it up farmer - the TRUE K

@FarmerJayhawk glad you got the brooks kid in there! Huge lie! Espn needs to play this during our games at half!

Can confirm. Chapel Hill is distilled disdain of K. His last game at the Dean Dome will be NUTS

It’s really the blatant lies that stand out to me.

Why the hell is Villanova and UCLA playing at 10:30pm on a Friday night??? That needs to be a prime time game considering it’s a pair of top 5 teams playing each other. I hope I can make it awake for that one and then tomorrow night is the same deal with Texas and Gonzaga playing at 9:30.
These should be high profile games in prime time slots, not relegated to spots where most people won’t be able to watch.

I bet Bucks Celtics does a lot better number at the primetime slot than Nova UCLA would. Just straight cash, homie.
