2021 Transfer Talk/List

I’ll take that anyday
-
Wonder if Bagley and Martin get along…
-
@DCHawker Subscription is really worth it! It is a really long article, detailing each player. But here are the first 2 paras, which give kind of a summary:
"Bill Self believes Kansas is still going to land at least one more guard. The Jayhawks are in the mix for Georgia transfer Sahvir Wheeler, and high school recruits TyTy Washington and Nolan Hickman. Add one of those point guards, and Kansas will likely start next season ranked in the top five.
“The roster, as is, is probably still a top-10 team. Self entered this offseason wanting to add speed and scoring, and he believes he’s done that with the three players he’s signed in the spring. ‘There’s a higher ceiling with these recruits, I think, than what people probably realize,’ Self told The Athletic.”

I meant to say NOT take that - -Martin over Wheeler anyday every day - - not even close

Remy would solve a lot of scoring problems. Had a bit of an up and down year at AZ St but Hurley can’t coach so that’s a big part of it
for sure the kid can score got a motor on him that won’t stop

@jayballer67 Arizona St. Stud!!!
ya , ya that’s it - - love that kid
-
At this point I’m pretty sure there won’t be much movement until summer and guys withdraw from the draft.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I am confident Bill will add a guard. Whether that guard is impactful or not who knows.

I agree with that, think it’ll come later this summer.
-
Reason to believe Remy Martin is the new top target.

And he really should be

Wheeler to UK is done, just not announced yet.
-
@BShark Then UK is getting both TyTy and Wheeler? I have also heard Davion Mintz is likely returning, so it seems like they will have a lot of pgs.

that’s good news
-
Didn’t realize how bad of an outside shooter Remy was. Only 33% for his career from deep and not likely going to improve at KU. That said, he’d be a good lead guard as he has a really good assist rate and a low TO% which is a fear with Harris as the primary lead guard next season.
Plus Remy played a big role in helping ASU sweep the home and home with KU in 2017 and 2018.
-
Well he’s certainly not as accurate from distance as one might think but he’s made 176 3’s in his career. Really just stuck on some bad teams and had to carry a team for the past two seasons. He was a preseason All American coming into the season. KU could really use him. That would replace the scoring KU will lose from Ochai and would give Self that 1-2 inside out combination.
-
a bunch of these players are not even going to play. If Bill plans on using all 13 scholarships that means probably 4-5 of these players are not even going to see the court this year. and Ochai is coming back so there is not much opportunity in the starting 5. The freshmen i hope are expecting to redshirt otherwise they are going to be disappointed.
-
@BeddieKU23 He shoots the ball well enough from deep you have to guard him, and he finishes 2pt shots very well so he’s a very good add.
And he has that ability to just catch fire and literally will a team to a win. Something we didn’t have last year.
-
Well said. Hoping the stars align here…
-
Yeah Remy is MUCH better than Wheeler is the main thing.
Staff has also contacted Brandon Mahan, but I don’t think he is much of a PG.
@bennie Well KJ, Cuffe and Curry are basically locks to not play much imo. I think after that it’s fairly up in the air when we are talking about the difference between guys 8-10. If Bill adds Remy Martin he is a lock to start. Allegedly he is hoping to move Braun to a bench role while still playing big minutes. Adding a high level PG would make that possible if Och were back. Something like R. Martin, Yesufu, Ochai, Jalen, Dave. You would have Braun and Harris as really nice bench pieces then you see how the back-up post situation shakes out and what Pettiford can give you.
Part of why I like Remy a lot is he is a 1 year rental so it also gives Pettiford a clear chance to grab the reins his SOPH year.
I believe they want to sneak in Zach if they can, you don’t want a guy like that being a transfer risk. Some mix of him and C. Martin as the back-up posts I think.
-
@BShark This is the ideal, ideal scenario. With maybe something like if Ochai leaves they nab another top tier Wing transfer.
But I do like how the roster sets up with a one-year starter in Remy so that way our young guys see they will be able to get PT in a year. Bill HAS to keep this team together going into 2023. They can be special.
-
@Kcmatt7 Ochai is going to come back. The pro opportunities (even with a potential down or up year) will not dramatically go one way or the other imo. And he can get his degree.

Agree, I love the long term look of the Pettiford Cuffe back court.

don’t be sooooo sure on him coming back. At one point I was 1000 % sure he was coming back - not sure at all. - He can like so many others have can come back and get that degree
-
@Marco I think he comes back too, but we’ve seen guys make really poor decisions.

Even if he gets drafted or whatever he can always come back and get his degree
-
When is the deadline for the combine?
-
July 7th is the big date.
-
-
I do think that the kind of prep Och is doing right now is probably good for him. While I’m sure he puts in a lot of work normally, this summer will hopefully push him and help him work on things he struggles with (like his handles). Instead of being stuck in the same routine which has clearly not helped him develop enough.
-
Bryce announcing tonight, should be Okie State. You know he’s gonna light us up at least once…

ya that’s what I’m saying too. Quite a few kids do that

@BShark This transfer still chaps my ass (even if he wasn’t playing well as a frosh)

Yeah, Bill was giving him more minutes than his level of play even deserved tbh.
-
I hate transfers among con. Teams.
-
Apparently Bryce is announcing tomorrow, not tonight.
-
Well I guess it is a transfer - - a Juco but transferring. - - Porter Moser Coach at OU landed a pretty good player. Akol Mawein the # 4 overall Juco committed to OU 6"10 - -# 1 PF - -he is doing well as the 1st yr Coach at OU
-
ESPN reporting that TyTy picked Kentucky.
-
@bskeet 🥱🥱🥱
-
Bryce to Okie Lite
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich hate to see it!
-
Hope Bryce misses every shot he takes against us, he sure didn’t make many for us
-
That had been done like I said.
Will be nice to play 5 on 4 vs them and just not worry about a guy on offense.
-
I think Bryce will be good. I don’t think it’s good for conferences to have incon. transfers. I know, all’s fair… but the Texas/TT will be pretty ugly too. I guess playing against Texas will be a lil weird for us too.
-
A friend of mine told me coach Howard applied for the Illinois job when Underwood got the job. True or not?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Howard has been looking to move up, he wants to be a head coach. That’s good though, you want assistants with aspirations.
-
@BShark have you heard of next level prep?
-
See where Tre Mitchell from U Mass listd his top 6. - - Of Course Texas is one of his final Six. - -Beard killing it

Mitchell is going wherever his mom’s bf/former UMass AC Tony Bergeron lands.
