2025 Recruiting
-
I think they would take a HS guy if a guy blows up in season. But getting in my opinion the second best player in the country in DP and a freak athlete who could be a developmental story in Samis is solid.
-
-
Yes! I’m hoping Nickens will bring toughness to the squad. It can only help!
-
I don’t always follow recruiting too often but it seems like there’s been some good things happening this week or two. Of course, the ones making the headlines are the ones that leave before we ever get to know them.
-
@wissox True, and we know 1000 % Peteson won’t even bother to un pack his bags–for sure NBA level kid right now, Scouts are drooling over him, pretty much has everything you want.
-
Some buzz and chatter that Tiller will pick KU after all. Believe he’s announcing on Saturday.
6’10 forward with 7’3 wingspan. Self is not messing this cycle with getting kids with the ideal measurables.
Tiller is very skilled but a player I think will definitely be in the Self toughening school for a while. We’ll see how this one goes.

I’ve heard the same thing, which is surprising but hey, the more the better.
-
@BeddieKU23 definitely a toughening box candidate

Ooooh dolla dolla Bill y’all!
-
In an ideal world, Flory comes back next season and Tiller is our backup 5, which would give him time to toughen up and develop before playing a more major role in the future.
-
Bill is accumulating some SERIOUS length. Peterson has a 6’10 wingspan, Calderon and Tiller are 7’3. Kease, Rylan, and Flory also have plus length. I don’t think it’ll be a great offensive team as of now (portal PG and 4 pending) but should be an absolute menace on defense.
-
Should be a good Saturday
-
Next year will be a real changing of the guard that we haven’t experienced in some time
-
If we get Bryson to commit - - -We are loaded, sweet HG recruiting & you know Coach gonna hit that portal hard --priority to get a good PG we land a solid PG we the LENGTH we are going to have- - - Mercy -Rim protection with Flory , pretty good depth should have ( I keep seeing people placing Rylan back ) how sure are we he will be back ? – Bil & Staff are NOT PLAYING = = = = ROCK CHALLK
-
Flory may be gone. But im not skeered
-
Bryson tiller is a Jayhawk
-
got a great laugh when Bryson was introducing family - - accidentally calling his Mom – his Wife lol -it was great. - - Like I said Coach not Playing.
Bossi saying he thinks KU hits the portal looking for that Point guard and another Big is what they will focus on now.
They was talking about how Bryson was a Man - -well developed, he looks really fluid, has a nice stroke Hell ya- - Bill & the guys gettin it done - -I won’t lie , I thought after we got Calderon Tiller was off the board. two from OTE team mates-GRAT JOB

Great! Any of you experts know more about him? I just started reading up on him this morning. It’s weird. For a high level recruit, the scouting reports are kinda meh?
Looks like he has great size though, but they make it sound like he’s not that dominant nor explosive.
Player comp?

He had a little bit of a injury during the season
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I can’t really think of a great comp off the top of my head. Tiller is multi year player because he’s not a great natural athlete. He is a very skilled player that puts in work to keep expanding his game. He is already a pretty dominant rebounder and has all the tools to become an elite low post defender. He’s an above average mid range shooter that will eventually become a 3 point threat which is going to make him great for the high-low.
If Bidunga stays, Tiller is athletic enough and has enough range to play next to Bidunga which would make it a nightmare for teams trying to score in the paint.
-
Right now, KU has the following situation with the roster for next season:
Outgoing Players:
Shak Moore-G
Hunter Dickinson-C
Dejuan Harris-G
Zeke Mayo-G
David Coit-G
KJ Adams-F
Incoming Players:
Darryn Peterson-G
Samis Calderon-F
Bryson Tiller-F
Eligible to Return:
AJ Storr-G
Rakeese Passmore-G
Rylan Griffen-G
Jamari McDowell-G
Elmarko Jackson-G
Flory Bidunga-F
Zach Clemence-F
With the scholarship limit expanding to 15, KU in theory has 5 more scholarships to offer.
In regards to eligible to return players who may not, Bidunga is on there for the NBA, AJ Storr has to be a consideration if the light never fully comes on for him here, same with Griffen. Clemence seems like a possibility if he wants more playing time. I also believe that Elmarko and McDowell could be possible transfers as well depending on who Self lands in the portal and who would have interest in them.
A starting caliber PG should be the top priority in the portal along with a starting caliber athletic 4. If both Griffen and Storr leave after this season, a starting wing jumps a 4 in priority because Calderon will be a nice player, but I don’t think he’d be ready yo start right away for KU. Beyond that, the rest of the portal additions are going to be about building depth.

Boom Shaka laka

@Texas-Hawk-10 Nice summary. Storr has played for 7 teams now in 7 years so a transfer is highly likely. Imagine if the kid just settled for one place how much better he’d be.

I think our NIL makes a difference here. Also Self. If he isn’t going to stick around to be the best player he can be under Self he likely isn’t headed for a serious professional career. This is where he needs to be to get where he wants to go. We all see the flashes in him but he’s still not there to being a finished product. I’m very surprised he isn’t a starter given the NIL we gave him. Hopefully he’s open to a 2nd year
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Great post. Wish there was a way to pin this for future reference. (@approxinfinity is that a feature?)
-
@BeddieKU23 If Storr is on the team next year I will eat a shoe

Same but we can hope some factors make a difference if he doesn’t have the season expected. He’s not even a starter here. There’s no NBA team that’s coming for that
-
@BShark Do we get to pick the shoe?

Isn’t that the second shoe Sharky has vowed to eat? Starting to think there’s a problem here!
-
@patoh3 boot!
-
Apparently the #1 rated QB in this class who is committed to LSU is receiving a 10.5 million dollar offer to go to Michigan. Absolutely insane, that’s more than a lot of NFL guys.
-
I remember when we would be in the hunt for top recruits and inevitably all went elsewhere. So this year, our recruiting is the way I always dreamed.
