RE: Pet Peeves Pleaseposted in General Discussion
People cutting in line. People that drive in the passing lane at a slower rate than the rest of traffic. (And will not get in the slower lane when they have a chance) I guess it rounds out to be people that are inconsiderate of other people. Having to deal with answering services when calling somewhere and play phone bingo to speak to a live person.
Having to deal with insurance companies that tell me what tests I can order and in what order and what medicines are on the formulary which can be a guessing game.

RE: An ugly topic: Bill Self’s healthposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I am in the health care field, so I did a little research on this topic myself. Length of survival after an AVR (aortic valve replacement) procedure for a low-risk younger pt, which I am assuming he is low-risk, had a median lifespan of 16 years after the procedure. This is from an article in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology from Nov 2021. I saw another article stating that it would reduce a typical lifespan by about 8 years, but this is much better than the 2 to 3 year survival rate without the valve replacement. And that 2-3 years is not with a very good quality of life.

@wissox That is horrible. Yes, he did not play well today, but I am sure he knows it and is beating himself up enough as it is. It is just a game!! There is no place where this is OK! It seems like we are going backwards with respect to being civilized. I feel like I am living in the Twilight Zone.

RE: Bill Self back in the hospital 😳posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
@drgnslayr My dad had a quadruple bypass at 53 y/o and lived to 81 y/o after more heart caths and additional stents than I can remember. A lot of heart attacks occur in patients that do not have much blockage on a cardiac cath. If a newer plaque should sheer off then it will travel until it is either burned up like a meteor in the earth’s atmosphere or until its gets wedged into an artery that gets progressively smaller so that oxygen and nutrients can be exchanged in capillaries.
As far as kickbacks for health care providers (HCP), it is illegal. If a HCP is found to have kickbacks, then they get to suffer a huge fine and the embarrassment in the local news and the HCP community. They tend to become a pariah that have to go out on their own if they continue to practice because no one wants to associate with them. Lastly, there is the Sunshine Act that anyone can look up to see if a healthcare provider has received anything from pharmaceutical companies or medical equipment companies and how much to see if they are being influenced or an advocate for those same companies.

RE: Jayhawks in the prosposted in Past Jayhawks
Saw the highlight of Braun throwing down the poster dunk on Rudy Gobert last night. Unfortunately, it lead to a technical and took the momentum away with the Nuggs ultimately losing after being up by 10 with 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Who would have thought Braun would be starting in the NBA when he played at KU?
It is a great thing to see! -

@BShark I am sorry to hear about the stressful challenges you have had to deal with. I am glad that your situation has improved to the point that you are able to spend time with us. Your insight into KU sports is valued.
This so-called healthcare industry in the U.S. is broken. I know this intimately, as I am a healthcare provider. I could write a book about the many failures that I see on a daily basis. Dislike for insurance is too kind of a word in the way they screw patients over and make care more inefficient and costlier. I don’t want to make this a diatribe on the healthcare industry, but I can discuss my experience if bucketeers are interested.

It was on the national news. Hope it was accidental, but a loaded weapon by spectators should not be brought into any sports venue in my opinion.

Udeh, Zuby, Storr, Coit, Griffen, Grant Foster all did pretty well tonight. Zach is the only 1 that I see that did not do much. He started for Tx A&M, but scored 2 points in 17 minutes with 5 RB’s. Philon did well too. Another one that slipped away from KU.
