Potential wise? Seems far behind the skill of Flury or Queen right now. Probably the biggest of the 3 and that’s never a bad thing for a KU Big. Interested to see what happens here. His top 8 was a doozy

@rockchalkjayhawk some of it is just randomness, some of it is elite players jumping up a class, some of it is covid.

wondered when/if the covid factor would affect recruits like this. lack of playing time, learning, coaching, etc.

Well dam , I was reading that we had made the top 4 for Flory Bidunga, was getting a little excited, was reading he had a strong Adidas connection, & Ku was the only one of the 4 that was Adidas
It’sKU , Auburn , Michigan , & Duke. --Is this going to turn into a NIL bidding war ? - -was reading from on 3 that his NIL value is at 530,000 dollars. - They say they way they determine that is performance - - Influence - -& Exposure. - -Anyways hasn’t set a date but has said he would like to make a decision before the start of his Senior Season. - - So overall was gettin my hopes up a little bit when w made the final four and then - - -
Read in several of the response from the tweet that he is a DUKE lock - -dam , dam, , dam - -is that true? - -probably has anyone heard any inside on it?

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s Duke. Our biggest 2024 recruit is Hunter Dickinson.

Amazing how they can routinely land top Adidas circuit guys…when adidas programs definitely don’t take the top Nike kids.

Yeah it will even out a bit. Just annoying that they were able to do this before “NIL”. Even UK wasn’t plucking adidas kids like them. Even a guy like Whitehead stock bombing at Duke hasn’t hurt them.

I don’t think it’s possible Duke gets hurt in recruiting like other schools would in similar situations. Just seems to be the way it is.

4 star guard Jared Harris from Texas has set an official visit to KU for September 1st. #98 ranked player overall. Visiting same weekend as top guard target Jalil Bethea. Says he hears from the Jayhawks, LSU & Mississippi St the most.
*One of the more talented seniors at the two-guard spot, Jared Harris shined this past weekend at The Stage showcasing his athleticism and range from behind the three-point line. A 6-foot-2 shooting guard out of Silsbee (Texas) High, Harris played with a huge chip on his shoulder throughout Saturday which resulted in him being one of the top performers on the weekend.
“I felt I have been slept on,” Harris said. “I am trying to go for the No. 1 spot in the nation. I know I have to keep grinding.”
Kansas: “They have been showing a lot of interest. They put people in the league and that is where I am trying to go.”
Harris says a top eight list cut will not be announced until he completes his next official visit. He added that he plans on committing some time in November.*

@Kcmatt7 plus we’ll only have to give up one more scholarship over the next two years so on net could add a player or two. Or none if we don’t add anyone this year. Not totally out of the realm of possibility we return 4 starters, though 3 is more likely.
We know Braun, McCullar, and Timberlake are gone. So I’d think you could add a wing starter from the portal, two bigs (one HS, one portal?), and and least one guard (sounds like HS).

Elmarko is on a lot of 2024 mock drafts as a mid to late first rounder. Decent chance he won’t be back next year.

That’s the extreme high end. I’m not aware of anywhere else projecting him as a top 10 pick. But with as many mocks as there are out there that have Jackson as a 2024 1st rounder, that means he’s on NBA radars already and they will be coming to see how he stacks up and how good his playmaking abilities really are because that’s what has NBA scouts excited about Jackson the most.

well I know some are down on Bossi , but he broke down each teams chance and basically he said he believes it’s between us an Duke-- I mean it falls in line with him being a Duke lock, but we shal see

Anyone know if we’re selling bethea on starting? I’m guessing at least one of elmarko/arterio leave after this season, and I know dajuan said he plans on staying after next season but next year’s draft sucks and dajuan has some nba appeal based on what some guys(sam vecenie) have said.

I suspect in the first few days our players were just as welcoming until they apparently ran into some major attitude issue with him. His experience here also might have, with some strong cautions from Few, humbled him a bit. Not like Few to be careless about warning signs.

Being Adidas blows. Being the 3rd favorite Nike school would get us better players than the top Adidas. No doubt in my mind.

Exactly…Coach should be picking who he wants at this point as the active best college coach in the game by far.

And those first round picks win them nothing in college. It’s comical really.
I agree with your point but when you look at the end result, these kids that are going to Duke as 5 star type talent are there a blur and gone. They have a model that works for them that doesn’t work here

@BeddieKU23 I definitely get the argument that winning without experience is difficult. To some extent that is what makes the Adidas sponsorship a blessing in disguise. The 2013-2014 team is sort of an example of what a OAD turnstyle team would do under Bill for sure. And Wiggs and Embiid were TALENTS.
Still, I will always wonder what could have been for Bill if he got to handpick kids from each class essentially.
