How about almost 6 YPC. OL stepped up after a subpar game last week

Farmer we said it buddy. KU not gonna get punked anymore , now not saying we gonna beat the big boys but I seriously believe we can compete with TCU - - Houston – - Iowa State - - - Texas Tech , - -

I think we got legit shot to beat Houston – Iowa State - - Duke - - -TCU - - & Texas Tech - - -I at least think we will be in the game for sure. - - In years past with the way this game started not stopping a cold on defense and all the penalities it would of got really really ugly. - -Defense did just enough when they needed too.

This has to do a world of good for the guys confidence in themselves , this win means a lot - -future recruits will start loooking more seeing the progress we keep progressing and it helps with Alum willing to donate to repair that old thing wwe play in now - endless benefits if we can just compete with teams show progrression - -whuch as you know we RE PROGRESSING. Coach L has for sure helped this program

Legit shot at 4-0. Unthinkable not that long ago

  • In the car in OT and the radio feed I had on my phone goes out. It was the play right after the review on whether the QB fumbled or incomplete or was down. Disappointed that I heard the ref say incomplete, 3rd down, and then I hear nothing. Next words I hear are Pick 6 KU wins! I let out a whoop, pulled in the driveway a few minutes later to a house full of my kids who had stopped in to visit. Great evening.

  • @wissox crazy you got that much!

  • Holy shit.

  • Nice blurb on ESPN:

Saturday marked the 110th consecutive time Kansas was an underdog in a Big 12 game, a streak dating back to 2009 – three years before West Virginia joined the league. But there’s progress in shifting public opinion. Saturday’s 14-point spread was actually the lowest for Kansas in a conference game since 2009, too. And what happened? The Jayhawks won outright, knocking off West Virginia 55-42 in overtime. (Yes, you read that right. Kansas added a pick six in OT to become the rare two-score victors outside of regulation.) Kansas has now covered four straight as a Big 12 underdog, including two outright wins – Saturday and last season against Texas. (Sorry, Texas. We didn’t need to pour salt on your wounds but it’s just so funny.) They’re the first team to win by 13 in OT since Central Michigan defeated Eastern Michigan 36-23 in 1998.

  • @FarmerJayhawk If Jalon continues to play at the level he did at the end of last year and into the start of this year this is team is finding another 2 wins for sure. Outside shot at a bowl but I wouldn’t bet on it. Showing progress either way. Better than I thought.

  • Anyone else disappointed/distressed by the sidelines motioning Cobee Bryant to take a knee or slide instead of running back the pick 6? I saw at least 3 people on our sideline motioning for him to go down to end the game. Is it possible that our own players and staff don’t know the overtime rules? The interception ended WV’s possession; they don’t get another one. Why not run the interception all the way back to the lockerroom. Yeah, Cobee taking it to the house. RC

  • @stoptheflop The coaches wanted the player to go down so the game would immediately end. Had Bryant fumbled the ball or gotten it stripped, WVU could have returned it for a touchdown. (The interception put WVU in the role of the defense for the rest of that play, and the defense can return a fumble.)

An extraordinarily unlikely event, but unlikely events give coaches cardiac issues. Fans love the TD, but coaches want all uncertainty to end.

Lloyd Christmas : Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you Mary, just… The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?

    Mary Swanson : Not good.

Lloyd Christmas : You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?

Mary Swanson : I’d say more like one out of a million.

Lloyd Christmas : So you’re telling me there’s a chance. YEAH!

  • @mayjay OK, maybe I’m wrong, but my understanding of the OT rule is WV only got one possession in OT to tie the game or it lost. So, when Bryant intercepted, that ended their one and only possession and they lost. Even if Bryant fumbled and WV recovered, that would be a second possession, which WV isn’t allowed in OT. If I have this one possession rule correct, after the interception Bryant could have handed the ball to a WV player and even if he scored it wouldn’t have mattered. Please, someone tell me if this is correct.

  • @stoptheflop If that were true, Bryant’s TD should not have counted because that would be a second KU possession.

Think of the implication of your interp: If KU hadn’t scored on our first OT possession, you are saying we could not return a turnover (getting a 2nd possession) on defense and win.

Or worse, what if WVU started OT on offense, and we got an interception but our player is immediately tackled. Then we don’t get our chance at an offensive possession because we burned our single possession by making a good defensive play?

  • KU is 1-0 during the reign of King Charles.

  • Watching the game now, at halftime. WV was lucky to be up!

  • I thought oddly enough the run d was good enough yesterday to win some more games.

It is getting things sorted on the back-end. I’m not ready to say it is a talent issue. They’ve just got to get more on the same page and coach those guys up.

Bowl game is probably still a stretch, but damn does it feel like this team just got a huge monkey off their backs.

The back end of the defense is still relatively young and inexperienced which is a big part of their issues. They’ll get better as the year goes, but this defense is still going to be relatively weak all year. Even being better than last year still means this defense is bad. Any games won will be won because of the offense.

  • @stoptheflop As @mayjay outlined, going down is strictly correct. I’m all about players having fun but I understand why the coaches wanted him to just go down.

  • @BShark I didn’t see them live, I was running with him!👏👏. Rerun I saw. There was no WV guys close. Do it Cobee do it!🌾🌾❤💙🏈 I would’ve! He was pretty bad all game too. A break!

  • Heard this off a sports broad cast locally. Think about this for a minute , let it sink in. - - - - KU went on a 35-10 run , on THE ROAD , in a Big 12 matchup. - That is pretty strong. Yrs past no way that happens.

Something we haven’t seen either. - - KU player named defensive player of the week in the Big 12 - week 1 - - Lonnie Phelps - - week 2 - -Jacobe Bryant , AND Jalen Daniels name to the Davey Obrien Great 8 - which is for the best QB performance of the week - -Jalen did that.

Offensive line has given up ZERO sacks so far, that’s good instead of having a QB run for their lives most the game. - -Thats what happened with past KU teams - -, OH and where was Mr Stills from WV - needed two sacks to become all time sack leader , & spent most the afternoon against Pitt in their back field. - -Anyone happen to have a sighting of MR Sills - -cause he was a no show - -love it

  • After the 14-0 start we really controlled that game. Their best defense was the clock.

  • Some stats my friends to take with a grain of salt, but still fun to see. - - KU - -1st in Nation Scoring per game 55.5 - - -KU --4th in Scoring offense - -52.5 - -KU - -1st in 3rd down conversion - -73.9 % - -KU - 12th in Nation Rushing - -248.5 ypg - - Zero Sacks allowed - - -KU - -3rd in Nation Rushing TD’S - - 10.

Now you know & I know can’t keep this rate but hey still nice to see

  • It may be just one win. Yes, KU could lose Daniels and tank the rest of the season. But, when I look at the usually difficult to stomach top 130 by CBS Sports, KU moved up 42 positions to #56. Imagine that, Number 56 in the country. A competitive football team. KU has hovered above the 100 rank for years. Thank you Coach Leipold and staff. Thank you.
