Iowa St game

I wish I was confident it would. Iowa St really made life difficult for us in Allen. I hope that those two take the opportunity to step up. Cb has been passing up shots for 2 yrs now

  • Remy is officially out tonight. He did travel

Guess that rules out the Rona then. Did expect him to be out.

  • Stars are born under difficult circumstances. So, who wants to shine?

Thing is true ISU plays good defense tough - -BUT they really struggle at times to score themselves , long scoring droughts. MAYBE a strong Dave shows tonight - - Christan has got to quit passing up wide open looks , did the same thing last year - I just think even with things how they are I think if we come out solid we will find a way to win this. - We have been through several tight games so should be able to play ok if it is w will see.

ISU with Och out will probably look to clamp down even more on Christan - he has got to up his game tonight

  • The announcer just said the B1g conference is “feisty”. What?

  • Clone Sweep. Yeah, buddy.

  • Yesufu with a cool 7, 5 and 4 in 23 minutes. I’m sending Bill a postcard to remember him on Saturday

  • @BeddieKU23 but you don’t see practice and summer ball

  • @Jethro said in Iowa St game:

Will never get old. The conference team I most want to sweep after KSuck.

  • Self to Gurley “maybe I’ve been playing the wrong guys” - postgame

No kidding you hall of fame idiot

Let’s get more athletic wait nope my system trumps athletes…no your system with legit athletes is what wins natty’s

You just don’t know when to stop do ya roflmao - - but yet you can’t look anymore like an idiot yourself - -what’s it feel like to have a hardon for Coach Self - if there is an idiot you need to look in the mirror. - If you contstantly think you got to call names - just relax Francis- - oh sorry Jethro stole your name to Francis hope it’s ok lmao

  • @jayballer67 you’re reading me wrong. Self messed up he’s an idiot.

I mess up in my job I’m an idiot. Don’t take the word so harshly…Self says way worse to his players.

Clearly don’t have one of those for him pretty inappropriate compared to idiot lol don’t call names but ya got a hard on for self lol don’t be a clown now

Self ain’t perfect; he gets called out; he slowly and stubbornly is seeing what computer nerds (idiots) like me and half the fans saw since Orlando and the Iona game.

I’m an idiot, you are, self is we all make mistakes gotta grow from them.

Now what will happen is if Joe plays way less minutes with Ochai back I’ll be disappointed because 2 guards won us that game it helped transition and then Dave tremendously. Most efficient game when two guards (one who always attacks had he had a leash and another who needs to attack more - Harris - played great)

  • Bill’s a big ole idiot I tell ya…(sarcasm since ya won’t pick up on it granted he’s paid millions to play the right guys and have the team at his best)

He’s getting it though recognized who won him that game.

We are best in transition Och included layups and transition threes. Half court isn’t our best unless it’s Bill’s out of bounds or backdoor lobs. Stuff to Dave doesn’t work let’s get out and run but Bill’s gotta relax his system to his players and if we win 79-77 he’s gotta enjoy the W that’s the goal right?

Growth though…it’s below now see how he handles minutes with Baylor

  • Bill to TJ before the game- Our Leading Scorer is out.

Also Bill- But my 11th guy is gonna smoke you guys tonight.

  • @BeddieKU23 Just some good ole fashion blue blooding right there

  • @Kcmatt7

All the credit to Joe. Would he have played 23 minutes if JCL doesn’t get injured early? Kid’s taken lumps sitting on the bench, apparently working his but off to please the coaches and find his way here and then shines when he gets the chance, finally. He shined when given the chance at Drake last year. I think he’s got a chip on his shoulder that you gotta itch and let go.

I was encouraged seeing Self give him that ‘atta boy’ in the locker room and his post game presser wasn’t just coach speak. Obviously it was a reward for playing well and helping them win. Hopefully we see more of it.

  • @BeddieKU23 I’m worried about Self going “see my toughening box worked, look what it did to Joe.”

Now I’m usually in agreement with Coach, but seeing Joe’s short leash all season makes me scratch my head

  • @rockchalkwyo

Did he even have a leash? Several DNP’s lately. But kudos for the kid being ready when his number was called.

  • @rockchalkwyo you and 75% of jayhawk nation that actually acknowledges Self is human and even though he sees it all can still sometimes not play the players that give us the best chance to reach our ceiling and win

  • @BeddieKU23 Best statement yet, “…the kid being ready when his number was called.” That probably. shows the coaches as much or more than anything. It would be great if every kid got to play every game, but we know that disappeared when a kid hits high school varsity.

  • @COHawk

His defense was outstanding, active and disruptive. When he dove for the ball that was already going out of bounds I bet Bill was loving it. That energy never left him all game and it was rewarded for at least last night.

I noticed a few defensive plays where Joe’s speed stopped ISU from swinging the ball on the perimeter. He attacked closing out to his man faster then anyone we got on the team. His top end speed is at a different level then Harris/Remy and anyone else. It was impressive to see.

  • @BeddieKU23 the defense and speed has always been there that’s why I can’t fathom how Self didn’t play him. That is normally what gets you on the floor first as it’s not scoring that Self cares about

  • I couldn’t watch the game live but there were some notable moments. Most spectacular blown dunk was by Brockington. JWill had the shittiest pass award by throwing one to ISU’s bench until Dave said, Oh yeah. hold my effing beer. I mean Jesus wept. Other special moments were the back to back dribble of their foot by Big Dave and Dajuan. Thanks guys. I should note that the Cyclones really get after you on D. Tristian puts the kabosh on Self’s not developing players LOL. JC-L looked like Svi splashing treys there for awhile. This team might just be good enough to get to the sweet 16 but don’t press me on why I think so. This may have been the best opportunity for JWill, who is my favorite player btw, for a quaddruple double of pts, rbs, assists and turnovers. These opportunities don’t come around very often, thank goodness.

Rewatch the game at that point. The replay angle gives you a perfect view of Bill and his reaction, which was vigorous applause. He did indeed love that effort. So did I!

This is gold. Made me laugh out loud.

  • In Dave’s defense, two of his passes looked like he was passing to where the guard could get open if they moved toward that spot. Not sure about the last one!

  • True.

  • Dave had a little extra zing on a few of those like he was leading the receiver to a tight spot on 3rd down for a first down catch.

He also made a couple of GreAT passes with that added zing as well.
