McDonald's All American Week Events

  • @jayballer73

Yup his attacking style will be important on next years team.

  • Ryan Noel said “Dotson is probably going to be the fastest guard KU has had under Self.”

  • @BShark I wouldn’t disagree with that. - -I can see that, - -the kid can be an absolute blur - -and loves taking it to the rim - really quick - - really - -really quick. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • “Game” starting soon.

  • Romeo has been really good. His skill set really fits these games. But the game itself has sucked. Can’t wait for the Hoop Summit where these guys really get after it.

  • Next years team is going to be SWEET! Could be back to back national championships? I have faith!

  • @FarmerJayhawk Yeah this is brutal.

@Statmachine I think 0 is more likely than back to back but next year’s roster is definitely exciting.

  • 0 is more likely sure I said “could happen”. I could get hit by bird poop today too? KU winning back to back is more likely than me getting pooped on by a bird today.

  • If you were to go to Vegas today and bet on KU winning back to back or Statmachine getting pooped on by a bird the odds would be KU winning back to back. Some people live life looking at the glass half full lol. Thats me! I still think its possible!

  • If Langford was going to IU, why would he take one last trip at the request of the coach? This is a pathetic attempt at recruiting. MIller knows he’s not coming and this is why the last effort to persuade him. HE’S NOT GOING TO IU MILLER.

Then Mack has the nerve to try? This is laughable. Langford even said BEFORE Mack called he was not considering any other teams regardless of coaching changes. Damn these coaches just don’t take a hint.

Vandy and Bryce Drew have tried equally hard. I’d say his chances are better. But these coaches are acting really nuts. I love Self’s approach with Langford. He’s laid it all out for Langford, and isn’t making any ridiculous desperate pitches. Self is classy and the only thing Langford has said lately is, “Coach Self gets his players ready for big games.” When Langford was asked about KU going to the F4, he simply said, “It doesn’t surprise me.” Something tells me he’s down to KU and Vandy with KU slightly leading.

  • ESPN headliner McD AA event- This is stupid. My guess is he hurt it, sprung, broke or maybe fractured it. He showboats and he needs to calm down. He’s lucky all that got hurt was the hand. I do hope the best for the young man.

Williamson goes to locker room with hand injury. After falling awkwardly on his right hand, future Duke player Zion Williamson comes up grabbing his hand in pain.

  • This is why people outside of the east coast hate ESPN, FF week that Dook isn’t in, yet here they are all over the ESPN MBB home page like they already won the title next season.

Yep…Coach K getting press for beating Cal at his own OAD game. WOW…UN-FREAKIN’-BELIEVEABLE

  • K has always had very good/borderline great recruiting classes. He somehow built a reputation of having smart scholastic kids who are scrappy on the court. He more times than not had more talent than anyone out there.

    • Between 1980-1989: 12 McDonalds All Americans
    • Between 1990-1999: 17 McDonalds All Americans
    • Between 2000-2009: 20 McDonalds All Americans
    • Since 2010: 25 McDonalds All Americans

If kids could have left after one year they would have, even at Duke.

In contrast Kansas has had 46 McDonalds All Americans ever compared to coach K’s 74.

  • Stats from the game. DM & QG 14 pts each, DD 8. QG 6 assists

  • 2018 class does not look particularly strong. Barrett only surefire long term NBA player. I think just based on the weak class alone if players come back they could improve their draft position.

  • Thoughts from the game:

Dotson is the quickest guard in the class. Absolute blur. Will have to learn to harness that at times but in a transition situation good luck stopping him.

Grimes played well. Showed off the deep ball with an excellent stroke. I can easily see him being our best 3 point shooter on the team. Great size and all around skill that we’ve come to expect from him.

McCormack is a space eater. Not many teams have those and he plays hard. Someone we could have all 4 years. Excited.

Romeo looked very good as well. The size, athleticism and shooting ability all on display. TV heads spent a lot of time talking up him for Indiana and Vandy per usual. We’ll see.

  • @BeddieKU23 So I get that it’s an allstar game but Quickley and Quinerly were very meh to me. Dotson and Garland clearly better.

Cam Reddish is way more Wiggins than he is JJ with the overall talent of neither, if you catch my driiiift.

I was pleasantly surprised with McCormack. Even compared to earlier this season it looks like he has done work on his body. He should get along real well with Hudy. I would expect him to be a 4 year player as well.

Langford looked fantastic last night. At this point I expect Newman and Vick to go pro, so hopefully the team ends up with Langford. He is a next level type player.

Both Q’s will be fine. For Kentucky’s Q that one is going to have to understand he’s not a OAD…

Nova’s Q will turn into a really solid guard for them. Zero chance that Wright doesn’t make him a pain in the A by his Jr year.

Not a fan of Reddish but it will help him that he can be a sidekick to Barrett & Zion. Still not seeing what has Tre Jones so high but the hype between Duke and his brother has him there.

McCormack definitely looks like he’s earned his stripes. If a kid can on his own change his body and become better I can’t imagine what 4 years under Self and Hudy will do further for him. He picked the best school for his future.

Nassir Little is a stud. I don’t know what Roy will do with a talent like that but they stole one. White is Berry 2.0 in so many ways its scary. Roy’s next 4 year Burger Boy.

I’ve become a big fan of Romeo’s game since KU’s interest picked up in him. This kid scored 3000 points in High School. I was having a hard time trying to figure out who he compares to, the best I could come up with was a combination of Jayson Tatum & Kelly Oubre. The game just comes so easy for him but a coach like Self could absolutely push him for more. He’d excel in that wing role here where he can score from the perimeter, get to the hoop, be our next lob man and be great on the defensive boards. Carbon copy fit here.

  • @BShark That would be really, really fast.

@BeddieKU23 I think people will be shocked when Dedric starts draining 3s, and our 7 footer is sitting in the lane, waiting for the rebound. Another 3 point option could be Cunliffe in the Brannen Greene role.

  • @BeddieKU23 Yeah I meant from an OAD/NBA talent perspective. If They end up hanging around for 2-3 years, they will be fine. At Nova, Wright will be able to ease in Quinerly. If Cal is expecting Quickley to come in and be a dominant PG I think UK is in for some trouble.

Agree on Tre Jones. Not as good as his brother. Should be around multiple years.

  • @BShark

Compared to Dotson and Grimes, Big Dave looks…well…big, really, really big.😄

  • @JayHawkFanToo Good lord. He is a big guy.

The interior size next year (assuming Doke is back) will be amazing.

  • @JayHawkFanToo @joeloveshawks Yeah he is a force. I was again impressed with how smart he is. There were actually some fun questions and answers in the video I thought.

  • I think I am going to become a fan of McCormack very quick. - - I for one am getting pretty tired of the McDonalds all star game , you can’t tell nothing or next to nothing out of this game. - -it has really even gotten to the point where it’s hardly even a glorified scrimmage anymore. Jay Williams made the statement repeatedly how he was disappointed because the lack of defensive effort. - something that resembled something of an offensive scheme. - Then finally at the very end they showed a little effort to play some defense.

Having said that What I could tell is McCormack is a guy that sure looks like he will bring his lunch - -looks like a pretty big boy- -love his effort rebounding - -I think he will be a very solid 4 year player for us. - Our interior in the coming years are just going to be insane- -yes - -I think I’m gonna like him just fine. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Man, Grimes and Dotson sure look a lot alike. Kinda weird, really, how similar they look facially. McCormack is big dude. Imagine he and Doke roughin’ guys up.

  • @BShark it’ll be interesting how UK handles all the guards they’re going to have. They offered Hagans, who’s basically a lock there once he reclasses. I could see Quade leaving since he’s not getting as much PT next season.

Wonder if he’ll end up at Cuse 2nd time around if he does look around. I definitely didn’t see anything from Quade this year that made me think he was going to the next level anytime soon

  • Ryan Noel just dropped some interesting comps for McCormack on the phog. Lonny Baxter and Sam Clancy. That would be pretty damn good, imo.

  • @HighEliteMajor Ya and just to think - -they talk about how Dave has transformed his body how he has worked really hard I guess they said he was over or right at 300 lbs - now look at him - the guy is big and really looks like a very dedicated worker - a sweet 4 year player for us. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @FarmerJayhawk Actually there is talk of Greene transferring out.- I got to be careful cause there is some here that just go off when people say they go check other boards. - But the Kentucky fans are saying there is talk possibly about him transferring so take it for what it’s worth. - -Like you hear a lot though usually where there is some smoke - -there is usually a spark of fire. - - talk of him transferring and also talk about PJ Washington not returning. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 I could easily see Quade Green transferring to Syracuse. Like I said Cal is pushing some guards out the door since he has 3 top guard prospects coming in.

  • @BShark UK fans would effing lose it if that happened lol.

  • @Kcmatt7

UK fans are starting to get tired of Cal’s OAD approach that for all the talent is has brought it has not allowed the fans to follow or become familiar with players and has resulted in only one Title and a humiliating loss to Bobby Mo in the NIT.
