Interesting visit. De Sousa was a bit higher in the rankings earlier this year but from what I saw and read he didn’t have the greatest summer. He’s still a talent that any program would be happy to have but wonder if he plateau’d a bit in his development because he was a 5 star prospect for a long time.

Finally something on Dotson. Maybe someone can post the link, i’m not very good with that stuff but the article I read said he thought the visit went well. He and Silvio watched the boxing fight at Self’s house with some of the players on the team. Biggest highlights of the article:
- Self told him that he thinks he is the best PG in the nation and he is their priority.
- Dotson and De Sousa were talking about possibly teaming up and playing together next year and thought it would be fun.
- Sadly, Dotson has a new visit scheduled, going to Univ. of Florida on Sept. 8th weekend.
- Expects to make a decision prior to basketball season.

Well guys, not really sure how to take this, I find it a little un settling maybe, Devon Dotson talked about his visit to KU & future plans:
Dotson says they watched the fight at Coach’s house with De Souza & some of the current team. Dotson said he talked with De Souza saying he is a great player and were talking about teaming up, just playing together would be fun to play with him.
As far as KU Dotson says Coach Self has made me a priority, wants to put the ball in my hands, just be in attack mode & run the show, Coach Self thinks I’m the top point guard in the Nation, so he believes in me a lot.
Now the little bit of un-settling part - - -Florida. Dotson says about Florida: Their need for a point guard & great relationship they have been talking since fresh year & the relationship & trust the belief in me.
Then on top of that even more a little disturbing was that he hasn’t set up any more visits but might take some, kind of frustrating because I thought this was pretty much a two team race - - not so sure now.
UCLA has recently gotten involved sayin their freshman Jaylen Hands could follow Lonzo Balls steps. Dotson saying that UCLA’S producing a ton of point guards that is definitely is appealing to him. Alford trying to set up a date for an in home and then Dotson says might take an official there.
Then there is Clemson, who he says is in the mix - -Clemson? - - Clemson? - - maybe take an official visit, gotta figure out the dates. Hopes to decide before the basketball season. - -was hoping for a little better outcome from his visit. - Now really don’t know what to think. - -I’m not worried about Clemson BUT Florida? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

McCormack has his final 6: Xavier - - KU - - -Okla St- - - -UCLA - - -NC State - - -& Duke.
Had to say about his visit to KU: - -Great environment at KU, really enjoyed himself there, told probably KU would be losing their top 6 , so McCormack will be able to play inside and out. - - KU would be able to take advantage of what I can do. - -we shall see , ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Sucks he’ll take another visit but it shows good character as well to follow through with what you say. Florida has recruited him a long time and they probably feel obligated to visit and give them a chance seems how they have invested a ton of time recruiting Devon as well. As far as UCLA its all part of the recruiting game.

His dad had been adamant that he wouldn’t commit on or shortly after the visit. Looks like they are sticking too that. I still think KU is very well positioned.

Well, read where Louis King has us in his final 6. Ranked # 14 by 247 small forward out of Hudson New Jersey, 6’8
His final 6 are: Maryland, Seton Hall, U Conn, Oregon, Syracuse, Purdue, NC State & KU. - -Even though Kentucky had been recruiting him he was never offered Looks like Oregon might have become the team to beat out for him now. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

The biggest development with King is that he wanted UK, played for Cal during Team USA ball and didn’t get an offer. So now he goes to his other options. I don’t think KU is seriously in it for him at this point. Zion is the priority

Some very positive news there. Seems KU has become a much bigger option for him then we might have thought. The Duke interest seems to be lukewarm at best right now and other then Oklahoma St hiring his AAU coach to lure him aboard KU has gotten the unofficial and now will get the official coming up.

Hmmm, this might have people guessing what it is. Read off UK Board, the thread was Huge Recruiting News Coming? Poster showed where " Fran Frischilla , stated Hearing something seismic on the recruiting front coming, but I’m not a story breaker. Going to sit back & see what happens Seismic.
With that said very interesting what UK people were guessing, but the two most popular Was Bagley not being cleared to play at Duke this year - -then we have talk of package deal to announce commitment - - Bagley probably not right cause as was brought up Fran said on the recruiting front - - Bagley is not a recruit any longer.
Then gets interesting UK fans wetting all over themselves lol. -Some saying a lot of hoopla from Fran for single recruit being Seismic. Then the talk became pretty popular responses - -Zion Williamson to KU in one form/shape or another. By himself - - -Package - - -Multi package lol. A lot of people talking hearing all the KU rumors/rumblings.
Talk about Zion trigger finger been itching & with Fran being in the loop has a KU feel. How Fran has his nose so far up Coach Self’s butt lol. Then talking about how Adidas bringing Devon onto Zion’s AAU team and how they fit together - - -helping KU - -then there was talk about how Adidas had given Zion’s father an AAU team, & they had sunk a lot of money into that team, so saying you don’t think they would want Zion and his father to go an Adidas school after that?
Just multiple - -multiple people saying they think it has to do with Zion committing to KU in some form or another, probably package.
Then the topper was they even had a multi package deal, saying Zion Williamson - - Devon Dotson - - Quinton Grimes - -&Romeo Langford - -ALL Adidas kids and committing to KU lmao.

@jayballer54 Still here and still checking in, just hasn’t been much to talk about lately. Seems like this recruiting season has dragged on a bit. Once KU lands its first commitment there will be a lot more chatter going on I hope.

This class does look like it could be one of the best Self has ever had. Some of that is due to how much we are losing at season’s end but this is a class the staff did its homework early to get a leg up on some elite kids.
Dotson and Grimes- They are locks until anything is said otherwise. Both dynamic guards.
Zion & Zion- Williamson is a legitimate option for KU, Griffin will take his last visit to KU and that one seems ours to lose from his comments. I think we are good shape to land at least 1-Zion.
Big Dave McCormack. Getting him to unofficial on his own then getting him back a month later for an official is huge. Billy Preston is probably a big reason he’s looking at us having been a former teammate of his at Oak Hill.
As @RockkChalkk said we just need the first domino to come off the board.

Wow, just read some quotes from SDS about his visit and why he committed and they were some awesome and powerful words. He really fell in love with KU and that makes me like him even more.

What is his and Dotson’s relationship?
Can he graduate at semester and come early? I guess if he was a 4 year player than he wouldn’t be eligible that last semester. I’m sure there is a way to work around that though.
He plays AAU with Emmitt Williams, wonder if that could help us out?
Wonder what McCormack thinks? Could bill sell them on just being the biggest nastiest front court ever next season, especially if Doke comes back? Can we land all 3 and still get Doke or Preston back? (Williams,De Sousa and McCormack?
Is he actually 6’9? Draftexpress shows he was 6’7 w/o shoes in 2015 and 6’9 in shoes in 2016. 6’9 wingspan which isn’t out of the ordinary.
Is he actually 256 lbs or is he 220 lbs? Draftexpress shows he gained 30 lbs in a year. I hope he is 256. Means he has a college body already. He looks like he has a college body already in the videos. Also means he is a worker.
Overall, I’m excited by the signing. Solid player, but his additional possible connections makes him all the more exciting.

My immediate thought is this is insurance for Dedric. The good thing is he’ll be 19 when he steps on campus, physically matured player already. Great job staff on getting this one quick. Have to feel a few others will follow suit now.

Dedric will be here next season. Preston won’t however.
I think Dok and McCormack are tied together. If McCormack commits I’d expect Dok to be gone.
Dedric/De Sousa/McCormack + Lightfoot is a very good front court. De Sousa and McCormack should be 2-4 year guys too, with McCormack closer to 4 and De Sousa closer to 2 but possibly 3. So, how does that impact 2019 becomes a good question but you have to take talent when you can get it. It appears that JRE and Chandler are as close to locks as you can get, but kids wanna play.

Their 247 board reached terminal velocity pretty fast. About 4 threads going at once, and they had to lock one, lol.

He might be 19 when he arrives, but he’ll be 20 when he plays his first game for KU. His birthday is October 7.

It’s a great pickup. Fran thinks he’s a top 10 player in the class. I’m not as high on him, but I’m not sure he’s any lower than the 20-25 range. I do think he’s closer to 255 than 225. The guy is pretty thick and ripped. He’s big enough to play the 5 with that frame and motor. His lack of offensive skill may hold him at KU for an extra year or two as well. Doesn’t strike me as a OAD really.
As far as implications for other guys, probably means KU is out for Emmitt Williams. He and de Sousa are fairly similar, so I’m not sure where Williams fits. Zion is being recruited as more of a wing, so shouldn’t impact him. As others have said, Big Dave is a center, so there’s limited overlap. More dependent on Udoka.
