Ok so lets see if new recruiting thread

  • I also found this "Per marble mouth:

    LSU no longer recruiting him.

Also another new wrinkle, he may not have been fully processed in at Western Kentucky. So all the Dean would have to do is reject his application and it’s like he was never there. Would be able to play right away at KU.

And that Dean is former high level brass at Kansas. "

I wonder if that is really how this plays out?

  • @Statmachine I mean depends on if he got credit, or aid. I think that the fact he purposely skipped the trip to Costa Rica trip will help him a lot. The fact that he changed his mind before the Fall school year started should help as well.

The more I look at it, my best guess would be that the NCAA will rule him ineligible for the Fall and let him play starting in the Spring. They can’t just let him play right away, for fear of future precedent. But they also would catch a ton of backlash if they don’t let him play at all this year. Seems like a win-win for all parties involved.

  • @Statmachine ya I saw that - -these guys, man - -another yesterday was talking about what criteria he would have to meet - -sexually assaulting a woman on the KU campus - -you talk about total lack of class. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 The name calling and stones they are throwing are unreal on some of the UK boards! I mean calling KU shady is one thing coming from WSU but coming from UK its like WOW? They are jealous as ever and I find it entertaining as H. E. double hockey stick’s!

  • Lol UK fans. Because world wide Wes never did anything for Cal. Loooool I’m dying here.

  • Gotta love it, but makes me curious. With Devon being from Charlotte NC - - why wasn’t Duke - - North Carolina Or NC State a far as that goes kind of curious how these schools wasn’t involved a lot more. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • The stache for Mitchell Robinson. Yeah, I’ll do that.

  • @BShark yep. No real weaknesses. One can hope!

  • @Kcmatt7 I agree with your reasoning. That would have been a big gamble by Wade and he would have taken some heat if it didn’t pay off, whereas KU has nothing to lose.

  • @jayballer54 Dotson is actually from Chicago originally. 🙂

  • KUSTEVE said:

If Robinson signs with us, and is immediately eligible, we win the national championship this year.

Not an unreasonable prediction. No one would 1. have more size than us 2. there would not be a talent gap between us and any other team 3. the inside outside balance could be just as good if not better than 08 4. we could play a half court game better because we have more height and an additional shot blocker. Even if he only can play for the spring semester, no question he would make a big difference for us and may well be the reason we win it all.

  • @BShark True, BUT he has been in NC long enough that their programs ought to of caught wind and got involved. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Well UNC got some early commits and Duke has some heavy leans like Tre Jones.

  • @Kcmatt7

I can see the NCAA not wanting to set a precedent but if there is a loophole or a technicality that would allow him to play, there is not much the NCAA can do about it either.

KU can say that it spent $100K to get Diallo qualified and this time they will do the same but will ask the NCAA to pay for all the expenses KU incurs if it prevails and if there is a legal loophole or technicality KU can use the NCAA will back off.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Yea I mean there is probably so much already going on behind the scenes. I would love to have access to documents that KU’s lawfirm probably has access to from prior NCAA rulings.

I guess at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised about his eligibility in any capacity. I do think that there is probably one hell of an argument to be made.

NCAA has lost several cases in court in the past though. Probably best to save themselves an embarrassment and let the kid play. NCAA came to a pretty quick ruling after Diallo hired a lawyer and threatened legal action. I’m sure KU learned from that situation.

  • @Statmachine Even UK recruits can’t repel transfer firepower of that magnitude!!

I’m not so sure KU would be the empire in that analogy, though. UK seems a little more empire-y to me and KU seems more rebel-ish. And Cal is definitely the Emperor. He just needs some robes and a hood.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich Where does K fit in?

  • Somewhere in the prequels. Coach K and Duke aren’t in the original trilogy. Most of Duke’s success has come recently with K (as compared to the longer histories of KU and UK).

Edit: And I’m referring to the order in which the films were made rather than the chronology of the Star Wars universe.

  • LSU fans are bitter.

  • Probably all the losses to Alabama taking their toll.

Oh wait, It might be Laettner…

  • Does anyone trip anyone in Star Wars? If so, we know who Grayson is.

  • It’s a trip!

  • Well I’m seeing where some other schools picking up some CB’S for my boy Emmit Williams - - -Damm -Hell even Oklahoma state has got some, Florida pick up some so now according to that we are bringing up the rear again.

I’m just curious, I wonder if the strong possibility of us maybe landing Robinson plus having Lawson on the horizon is steering him away? - -I know Williams and Robinson don’t play the same position but still just curious. - - - And whz up with Oklahoma State where the hell they coming from on this? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 Okie Lite hired on an assistant with big time AAU ins. Same reason they lead for McCormack.

At the end of the day I don’t think Williams is a Jayhawk.

  • @BShark because…?

  • Not for lack of trying from KU. Good chance he doesn’t leave the state. I also don’t think he wants to go anywhere to sit on the bench which he would be doing at KU.

  • @BShark I have to disagree with ya there, if Emmit came here he wouldn’t be sittin the Bench or at least not for any long stretch by any means - to much of a talent sorry.- - -he may not start but he sure not going to riding the bench for very long periods. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I mean not starting, and he definitely would not start. Dedric will start next year.

  • @BShark ahh, got ya - -what is it coach says doesn’t really matter who starts the game it’s who is in at the end of a game come crunch time that matters - Start is just a word. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I would bet on Dedric playing 30+ minutes next year unless he messes it up with off the court crap. If KU gets Williams I will be happy, pleasantly surprised.

  • Read on other site that we offered Dontarius James to lure Zion Williamson. Is this old news?

  • @approxinfinity ya heard that awhile back when we started pulling oredicts for Zion - -Coach Self been getting Lit up pretty good for doing so from opposing Teams - in particular Kentucky, talking about how smudgy it was You know those guys lol - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 well hold on, remember back when we were recruiting DeAndre Daniels out of IMG Academy and offered his lesser known teammate Jamari Traylor? We know how that worked out for Jamari.

I believe Christian Garrett was taken as a walk-on to help get Daniels.

    Googled and yes: http://www2.kusports.com/news/2015/mar/01/man-faith-basketball-bible-study-highlight-senior-/

It was hoped KU would also land Garrett’s best friend, IMG Academy’s DeAndre Daniels, who ultimately decided to attend UConn and now plays overseas.

Self says the bottom line is he has thoroughly enjoyed working with Garrett, who also was an IMG teammate of KU junior Jamari Traylor.

“Christian has been great for our team, great for our program,” Self said. “He’s been a great ambassador and representative of what we’re trying to do. He is our spiritual leader, without question. Although I haven’t been to one of his services, I’ve listened to him many times within the confines of our team.”

  • Well not that this comes as any surprise but just read where Bagley is going to announce where is committing to tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. on ESPN. - -Not that surprises us at all as we knew he wasn’t landing here, and since he didn’t make a visit to KU or Kentucky.

I had thought he was a Duke commit, but a good point was brought up, as he will also discuss his re-classification - - -Duke starts school at the end of August I believe while UCLA doesn’t starts a little later, it says they offer something the other schools don’t - - quarters - which would help him get what he needs for re- classification - -so anyways there you go, NO SUPRISE - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Just saw that about Bagley too. Does Duke even have an open scholly? Curious if anyone knows what their situation is.

  • Just went back to check on Bagley for sure, the thing UCLA can offer that the other schools cant’ - - quarters. - - -Bagley is still taking classes to finish degree - - - Duke and USC start at the end of august - - UCLA starts School in the end of September - -so he could work on finishing up classed for yet another month. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @RockkChalkk Not sure if they do or not, BUT looks like maybe UCLA might have an edge with them not Starting Class till the end of Sept, something that might make a difference for Bagley. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Scuttlebutt is Bagley to USC.

  • @BShark maybe a little surprise to me anyways. - -I figured Duke, that’s what seem to be the talk, then this about UCLA but doesn’t really matter - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I read the three schools are Duke, UCLA and USC. Looks like he likes California so it does not look good for Duke.

  • Bagley to USC makes zero sense from a playing time perspective. 2 NBA forwards on their roster already.

He starts at Duke. Bolden already proved he was a project. What a saga this kid has led on

  • Jalen Carey tentatively coming for Late Night. I don’t think he’ll make it with his other visits lined up really early compared to this one.

If Dotson and Grimes commit by then (fingers crossed) he certainly wouldn’t bother.

Good point. Dotson will definitely be announcing before Carey potentially gets here. We might be out of it after that announcement

  • @hawkmoon2020 The comments sum it up -poorly written.

  • @BeddieKU23 Kind of like you watch Duke will now be out of the picture for Garland since they got Trae Jones and Duval. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Zion Griffin will visit during Late Night. Kid exploded this summer. He is already down to 4 and imo it’s us or ISU. HOWEVER he is a wing and obviously KU has a shot at Barrett and KING EMPEROR ZION WILLIAMSON. Soooo, will Griffin wait? Can he commit to KU today if he really wanted to? Tough questions that I don’t know the answer to.

I really like his game though, and he’d be a 4 year player.
