  @JayHawkFanToo Imagine that… the rules changes, when actually enforced, drastically affecting teams like Huggy Bear’s. Makes one think back to the 2007 game against the Salukis when the internet was awash in tears of people claiming the Jayhawks had the favorable whistle that game. Maybe I should add hand checking to my signature? TCU winning any games helps the Jayhawks on the quest for XII straight.

  @JayHawkFanToo He did that with another Coach’s players (Frank Martin/Huggy Bear), just like he did at Illinois after Self. So perhaps not a terrible coach, but maybe that whiny voice of his is just a killer on the recruiting trail (or he can’t scout talent?).

  @jaybate-1.0 There is zero risk to balanced betting,. The only times that the balance is busted is when someone will come just before the deadline and place a huge, long shot bet (multi million) and there is no time to change the line to balance the money. This has has happened in the past but mostly in the fight business, i.e. boxing, and most of the time it broke in favor of the house. Read up on Vegas betting, it is quite interesting and very secretive as the algorithms they use are proprietary and heavily protected; if you think Coke, Pepsi and KFC protect their formulas, Vegas makes them look like the proverbial pikers. When you talk about gambling, the only people gambling are the people placing the bets, the house hardly gambles at all and it is a well run and very profitable business. Most professional gamblers hedge and balance their bets and don’t go for the long shots which are for the occasional/casual/spur-of-the-moment bettor and hardly ever pay off…there is a reason why they are called sucker bets…

Those were 4 games I expected to win easily and now I realize that they will be real tests." That’s a good thing. We need to be tested as much as possible. If these teams are better than we expected perhaps that is to our advantage. Not only might that help prepare us better for March, but the rest of the B12 teams have to face these teams, too. So what teams in the B12 play well on the road? Right… only one. Starts with a “K.” Everyone always states that the road to the B12 title goes through Lawrence. BS. We do win almost all our home games. But what really separates us is our ability to win on the road. Other teams in our league just don’t win enough games on the road, not just in Lawrence. If we only win at home in B12 play, chances are we won’t win the league title.

  @DinarHawk This team has a lot of experience and it is very unselfish…I believe they will do fine… As much as I want KU to win this game, I want KU to beat UK a hell of a lot more…payback will be a beatch…

  What does conference play mean to me? Shutting up the yapping competition. Seemingly endless days/evenings of KU hoops. A means to an end. @Mikey-P Welcome, as well. My favorite – “5.Tyshawn Taylor putting it all together in 2012 just in time for conference season.” I always struggled with Taylor. Was glad to see him put it together – finally. 2011-12 was Self’s best coaching job in my opinion. KY and Wesley off the bench in the post, and Teahan on the perimeter. Wow. And we come within a few minutes of a national title. TT redeemed his prior seasons of chaotic performances in one half season. Great post. Don’t be a stranger.

  @Crimsonorblue22 Hard to tell… The chances of Forte playing pro ball are very slim. He might choose to play one more year and get part of a graduate degree paid for or he might opt to not risk and further injury and get started with his career…of course, if his future career involves basketball/coaching, then he will likely play one more year, whether it is at OSU…I don’t really know but I would think that he would stay since moving to a bigger program would not improve his odds to play pro. Now, if he wants to get a graduate degree at a more prestigious school. he might leave OSU…a year under Larry Brown at SMU, for example, might not be a bad idea and might get him started in a coaching career.

  What a great article, thanks for sharing. I liked one of the comments at the bottom of the article… "Any other of the local fan bases from around here care to sign up for a Kansas type of season of, “Suffering through a 25-10 season…?” Not many teams would call winning 25 games playing a tough schedule, in a tough conference (and winning said conference again), “suffering”. It is good to be a Jayhawk basketball fan Can’t wait for another home win tomorrow night and relish #1 for a while. (though I can easily envision the current warm and fuzzy feelings evaporating for the “sky is falling” crowd at the other site coming back out in a hurry if we lose)

  @BeddieKU23 Agee about Spangler, they key or 1 of the BIG KEYS I believe is, if we get Oklahoma in ANY kind of foul trouble then it’s going to be a problem for them, as they are not a very deep squad. If splanger gets in trouble that’s a huge plus for us. ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
