We have been to a lot of programs and I have to say Kansas will be getting another trip from us." This certainly is a good signal and bodes well for the program. I am not sure we have heard from top recruit…in football… this type of comment in as long as I can remember.

  @justanotherfan After reading your post I checked into the SWC history and learned Houston was Johnny come lately-joining them in the 70’s. I also think their own conference partners must have not valued them much during the next alignment as their were two groups formed, U of H was not part of either and went another direction by themselves. As for TCU, they were playing musical chairs time and time again. They are lucky to end up in the Big 12.

  This has nothing to do with KU recruiting but about a week or so ago I was listening to XM College Sports Nation and I want to say it was the Chris Childers show w/ Greg McElroy. Anyways they were talking about how bad the ranking system are. They said what the ranking system in football really breaks down to is this: 5star guys are NFL locks, guys that scouting services are pretty certain will be playing on Sundays. 4star guys are those that scouts think are All-Conference players. And the 3star guys are starters on the their team. 2star guys are 2deep, for depth. McElroy also said that just because a guy is a 3 star doesn’t mean they aren’t or can’t be great. He, Sam Bradford, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton were all 3 star guys in '06.

And I also admit that KU basketball is considered royalty by the basketball world AND that 10 big 12 titles in a row is a monumental achievement. Still I would not turn away from a Bill Snyder clone if I was going to get a football team similar to the last 20 years at KSU, which I think was the point of the original post. And, if after 20 years of success, then the the program struggles (as we seem to think KSU will), well so be it. I’m still not turning down 20 good years. Sorry, I did not make myself clear. Bill Snyder walks on water. He is the perfect example of a Great man, great coach, true Christian and on and on. I love everything about him and I am no KSU homer. Still, Bill Snyder alone, or his success at KSU doesn’t hold a candle to the KU bBall program. History. I am jealous of what he did/has done at KSU.

  @nuleafjhawk Agreed. Coaches have their hands full with their own programs and have little time for any thing else other than the occasional appearance at a game or Athletic Department activities. At KU, most football coaches regularly attend basketball games (they want to know what winner looks like) but Coach Self will only occasionally attend a football game…can’t say I blame him.

  @jaybate-1.0 I wish Bob Frederick was still here. He was, in my opinion, probably the best A.D. we ever had/ever will have. He was wise, intelligent, innovative and a good, decent human being. RIP Bob. You are sorely missed.

  @nuleafjhawk I agree. But as much as I may respect Snyder’s accomplishments over time, I wont put him in the same category as Saban or Meyer, or Stoops. He is a solid fundamentals guy, but he is NOT a recruiter. One thing everbody should know, is that Snyder absolutely hates KU. He takes the yearly matchup with KU deadly serious, as recruiting for the few instate nobodies that Kansas has could easily affect his pipeline if KU were to seem like an exciting new, winning football product. That whole KSU culture about ‘beat KU’, you could say is Purple Nation taking their cue from their Master Snyder, is all. But no worries, as we seem to have energetic guys in Bowen + Beatty, hope they can bring the talent, is it wrong to hope/wish for 4+star guys? And Father Time suggests KSU may soon be in their own upheaval situation, as Snyder’s replacement had better be more capable than Ron Prince…

  @Crimsonorblue22 Thanks for the heads up. I know Cox was granted a 6th year medical red shirt since the KU Athletic site indicates that much, so it probably was Bourbon??? If that is the case, then he might not be coming back. This article indicates that Bourbon was indeed honored as a senior, so he likely is not coming back. Bourbon is a 4.0 student so he might have finished his graduate degree and if the NFL is not in his future, it would certainly make no sense for him to come back.

  On football related notes…how long before Muschamp (leaving Florida at the end of the season) becomes a candidate for the KU HC job? Also, former MU player Chase Coffman fined $30K for hit on Raven’s Assistant Coach… Coffman fined… Only a former MU player would do something so stupid.   Unfortunately we are in a tough position. We have been down so long good teams know they better score a lot of points when they play us lest they look weak so the foot never leaves the gas pedal. If our offense can’t give the defense a rest it can get ugly. AND no matter who they are playing these ranked teams are looking to score style points every game.
