Rape conviction overturned on appeal due to police and prosecutor mistakes. Defense was the woman charging rape actually had been a sex worker, but the judge didn’t allow defense evidense on this claim (probably a poor application of rape-shield law that doesn’t allow evidence of victim’s sexual history; doesn’t apply if the evidence is about the crime itself). She claimed he had had a half hour interview for a job with him, then he called her back to pay for her time, at which time he raped her at gunpoint. Article doesn’t really analyze very well.
Interestingly, the police never searched for a gun due to not wanting to have bad PR since he was a famous black athlete.
