Awesome win!
-
Our # 22 Lady Jay Hawks got to 10 - - -0 with an 81 - -62 win over Tulsa. - - Franklin 25 points and Jackson 17 pts & 10 rebounds - -Way to go ladies
-
I know guys we are not or shouldn’t compare scores - - not a good idea but just throwing this out concerning our # 22 Lady Jay Hawks… - -
Arizona which is ranked 20th right now just got through beating Baylor which was ranked 18th. - - KU women just kicks the day lights out of Arizona when they werre ranked # 7 on Arizona’s home floor by 27 points - - -77-50. - Tonight Arizona beats Baylor - -by 21 points on a neutral floor. Go figure , just saying
-
I know not the right area but not sure where it was - - had a question . Therre was a post or some comments here about a kid that’s at Texas Tech I believe that was looking to transfer , can’t remember his name but someone stated stats on his rebounding and such- -he was a big man. - -
Found out actually he could transfer and be eligible immediately -and the individual casually probably said maybe we ought to check him out or maybe if KU had any interest. - -I was just curious if there was any interest maybe. - For the life of me I can’t remember his name. - - Just curious , he would be nice - -a really really long reach I know BUT doesn’t hurt to wish
-
@jayballer67 He is staying at Texas Tech.
-
-
So what did they do, actually pay him now?
-
@BeddieKU23 From the sound of it yes.

Hilarious.
Kids/handlers/parents gotta be careful with anyone saying “up to” in NIL.
-
Elmarko to rise up the ranks with rivals soon.
-
@BeddieKU23 He’s been playing well lately after a rough patch.
-

Is there an article about it?
-
Yep
-
@BeddieKU23 thx
-
Congrats Elmarko!
Made the McDonald’s All American game
-
He’s going to be terrific. I also think people are sleeping on McDowell. He’s got skills that will translate right away

Awesome. Yet of course you know he won’t show a lot there cause we know how the McDonalds all star game goes - usully it’s first one down the court shoot – little team in that game. - -Looking forward to his days here on the campus - -he is really moving up
-
Dennis Evans back on the board. I doubt KU gets back involved, but you never know.
-
Whoa, not surprised given Minnesota’s season.

Sharky, you don’t see how a 7-foot-1 center would fit in next season??? A top 20, shot blocking, rim-protecting big? that’s just crazy talk.
-
Evans at 7’1” is 210 lbs? How much weight can he really add?

Perhaps 230sih at most
-
@BShark he gets locked in the complex to eat and lift
-
@FarmerJayhawk - McDonalds diet?
-
@Gorilla72 we’re fancy at KU. We do Wendy’s
-
@rockchalkjayhawk Let’s follow his career. I am not the biggest fan. More than that, I think Udeh will be better next year. I think if they look at a big it should be a transfer that is ready to immediately contribute.
-
I hope we can find 2 wing scorers, that’s what this team will need unless Kev returns.

I was going to edit again and comment on this more.
I think it’s likely the staff is pretty happy with our post situation. If Zach goes you probably portal for a guy but KJ/Udeh/Zuby is a nice group. The big thing is Jalen and Gradey are leaving so we need shot takers. With the scholarship reduction down to 12 it really is hard to find room for a developmental big. Plus Evans might want to play immediately as well. The primary focus has to be the starting 4.
-
Yeah another big will be needed if Zach didn’t stick around. Zach, Bobby, Kyle all stunted by injuries, now MJ and Zuby facing the same situation this year. Lots of questions in this group.
KJ and Udeh is a really good combo to have. Then you have Zuby there too. I’m very pleased with that trio.
Love the freshman trio coming, Jackson seems like a shoe-in to play alongside Harris. Gotta get some dudes on the wing and a 4 man that can shoot

I still really think KJ starts at the 4 next year even if he doesn’t develop a 3 ball.
We could win games 38-25 with Juan, Kev, KJ, and Udeh plus a freshman.

Please no!

Hard to argue, but it’s always nice to have a 7 footer as an option on the floor. Our bigs don’t have that size.
-
Bossi had this to say fwiw
"I doubt Kansas gets back into the picture. They’ve already got two work in progress bigs on the roster and they backed off of Evans during latter stages of recruitment. With Minnesota, I think their 1-15 conference record and his former summer teammate not having the best go of it there were bigger factors than NIL. "

Is it an impossibility that KJ works on his shooting and steps out to the 4?
-
@Jethro He can work on it but I don’t think it’s projectable. Some guys just can’t shoot.
-
I would not count it out.
It will depend on how hungry and motivated he is in the offseason.
-
Louisville for Dennis Evans (not official yet).
-
LOL.
-
@BeddieKU23 Can’t say Minnesota being terrible was a factor in his decommit. Heh.

I really don’t understand this idea that KJ can’t be effective at the 4 unless he can shoot the 3. He has range to the free throw line and creates amazingly well on the short roll. Bill was able to find ways to get Marcus Garrett downhill. I think he can probably do the same for KJ…
To further my point, KU is 250th in 3PA this season. And not particularly effective at a .354 mark (thanks Gradey). On the contrary, we are 51st in 2PA on the season. Teams don’t even really guard Kev from 3. It isn’t like we are watching an offensive juggernaut this season. We are watching a team that passes the ball exceptionally well, runs in transition well, and plays very good defense. I don’t know how KJ at the 4 changes any of that.
-
@Kcmatt7 I’m not saying this is the optimal situation fwiw. But I’m certainly not worried about it the same way others are. You can’t sag off of KJ the way you can a regular big because he is a great passer and can actually dribble the ball.
I also don’t think you will see Udeh play more than 20 mpg next season. So we are talking at most like 12MPG where this would be a thing? He won’t be able to stay on the floor longer than that. Pretty sure he’ll still be a foul machine next season.

If they were to try KJ at the 4 next yr - -don’t think you would see him playing any 5. - -IF Udeh is that foul machine next yr you talk about I think chances are more that Zuby would back Udeh more then KJ
-
@Kcmatt7 Self’s best teams tend to be ones that are very good inside the arc on both ends. I just worry about that line-up offensively.
-
@BShark Agreed those teams that had an Arthur, Withey, Morri, Dok, Big Dave ect
Self has said without that we do still score a lot in the paint so even though it’s not throw it in one on one in the post he’s happy with it.
KJ already has the ability to drive right and finish like Wilson but our 4 man has to be so versatile like Josh Jackson or Jwill that not sure KJ can unless he becomes this great shooter in the off-season. Send him up to the Warriors shooting coach!

KJ has shown that he can score and pass when given space. Heck, I could even see Kj and Udeh running pick n roll for lobs on occasion. I think Kj will be the 4 next year and Udeh and Zuby will hold down the 5. Juan, is obviously the point guard, which leaves 2 spots for scoring 2/3 guard wings. I’d bet a freshman fills one of those and we look for a transfer to fill the other. There’s an outside chance that Joe or Bobby fill in at the two but that would not be ideal. They are not Graham/Mason or Robinson/Chalmers level guards. Maybe Kev comes back and fills that 3 spot but I’m not sure that’s what is best for Kansas. He’s a great defender but I don’t think he will develop into a 35% or better 3 gun which we will definitely need with Harris, Udeh, and KJ all on the floor.
-
Not that there was much doubt , but guess there was some kind of rumor about Juan. - - Put to rest earlier today , since I’ve been on come scrolling across screen that Juan will return next year for KU. - I hadn’t even thought about it - -but that’s what came across -So that’s good

Sorry if this is a repost. Looks like Dajuan may be staying. From the KC paper:
“Dajuan Harris, who will graduate from Kansas in May with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences, will not be giving a Senior Night speech after Tuesday night’s Big 12 battle against Texas Tech at Allen Fieldhouse. “I’ve still got two more years left,” Harris, KU’s 6-foot-1, 170-pound point guard from Columbia, Missouri, said after scoring 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, dishing six assists, and swiping six steals in 36 minutes in Kansas’ 76-74 victory over West Virginia on Saturday. “We’ll see what happens. I hope I’ll be here another two years. Yeah, we’ll see what happens,” he added, speaking on the postgame show on the Jayhawk Radio Network.
