Seems he’s played himself into “drafted” state at this point.

He deserved the award. Impacted the game unlike any other player in college basketball this year. Everyone knows he’s getting the ball, but still he can’t be stopped.

I hope that someday he will be able to walk down the hill and receive the degree he has earned. I doubt Sping grad ceremonies will be held this year. 3 time All Big 12 Academic team. We don’t pay as much attention to that as we should, but to me it is the highest recognition of the effort some students put in.

Doesn’t get to play in a single Big12 tournament game. Only one NCAA tournament. And doesn’t get to walk down the hill at graduation. Poor Dok got robbed. One of my favorite players of all time got totally screwed. At least he had that one final four.

@dylans he was having an all time great end to the season too. I fully believe he would have went ham in the tournament.

@BShark and there’s the magic word. Chemistry. We called it before the season. No egos. Team unity. I loved the camera panning across the team as Doke spoke at senior night. Yeah. He called their language a little dirty. There were different personalities. They weren’t all best friends but they were brothers in arms. Universal respect for each other and commitment toward a common cause.

Poor Doke is in a ghost town. Doesn’t look like anyone is around campus or Lawrence in his snaps.

And after one of the most dominant month-long stretches in program history ended with a Big 12 regular-season title, the outright clincher coming on the final day of the regular season on March 7 at Texas Tech, Azubuike started throwing around words like legacy. “He wanted the (national) championship so bad,” says his best friend, KU sprinter Omasanuwa Omatseye.

@BShark I think we will miss Doke the most next season. He’s such a sit down and shut up player. What I mean by that is when you need a basket after the other team makes a run, he gets a dunk and sets them down. Having a guy that converts over 75% is a huge positive. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get over him not having another shot at a FF/title this season. He just sent out a snap shooting in an empty McCarthy hall. Hopefully someone is around that he can hang out with.

I feel so sorry for that kid. They shut School down, and he is stuck by himself? - - Wonder why he hung around? Poor kid - - everybody else gone ? - -dam I hate that

More… I think we will miss his spirit. No one can say that guy doesn’t care about Jayhawk basketball! He has always worn his emotions on his sleeve and how much he cares about his team!

So true , and think that’s what makes me feel even more for him. - -the kid gave it his all, worked his butt off to transform his body just everything about him. - -also yes he worked & worked trying to improve on his free throw shooting & actually he actually did to an extent anyways and it showed a lot of the times. - -He for a lot of the time had a pretty sweet stroke from the line hit some big FT’S - I am for sure going to miss this young man and sure hope that some where he can get rewarded for his work

I wonder where our Dok has gone during this time of mandated home isolation? I’m sure McCarthy Hall is closed. He most certainly has plenty of supporters, but it’s not the same as having a family home to be at during this weird period of time. If anyone is close enough to Dok to know where he’s riding out the pandemic, please give me a shout.

That post game on court interview he had at Baylor. Good lord that makes me pretty emotional.

Not every student has somewhere to go home to though, especially international students due to travel restrictions. Those are the students still on college campuses because they literally couldn’t go home. I believe Doke and Silvio are the two KU basketball players still on campus. I believe someone here said that Tristan was able to get home to the Netherlands before travel restrictions were put in place.

I can not imagine how lonely it has to be for Doke, Silvio, and any student stuck on campus right now with no family around. That would just be brutal. I am Self has them over fir dinner a couple times a week or something, but damn that makes me sad.

@Woodrow I wonder if they can use the practice court for 1 on 1? Might be helpful for Doke to teach SDS some stuff.

It’s going to take me a long time to get over losing doke. I
doke finds success. I think he needed these 4 yrs just to mature into a man to be ready for whatever lays ahead. We’ve seen the jamari, Benny mac, TRob and doke stories, just breaks your heart to hear what they’ve been thru. Just happy we got 'em for a lil while! Feel blessed.

Doke has been named the National Defensive Player of the Year by the NABC. Surprised it didn’t go to Garrett, but if anyone but Garrett was going to win it, Doke was by far the best alternative.
