@FarmerJayhawk Wouldn’t fire Self at all. Not even a consideration. But would love to have him breakdown the Wright’s defense scheme and begin to incorporate some of those principles. We may win some of the games against them, but other than when the last Final 4 game where they were just outstanding shooters at all 5 spots, I would say we typically have the personnel edge.

I don’t blame Self too much for the gameplan today outside of maybe playing two bigs a bit much. Garrett going down sucks. A lot of this loss is on the players.

He certainly has Self’s number. we were #1 for an entire week. Sometimes I swear that every Bill Self team is the same team w/one notable difference. In 2008, I thought we would have won at least one more by now.
J Wright > KU, Bill Self. Wright comes into KU and leaves with what seemed to be a sure get, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Losing to Nova sucks but they have pushed themselves to a better program.
It seems every year we miss needed FTs, 3-pointers, too many turnovers, not enough scorers, poor clock management, and generally bad basketball. Today’s game was just more of the same.

This one is not on Self. He made the adjustment of going to a 4-1 (maybe he should have done it earlier) and it brought us back into the game. It’s not his fault that his players missed a ton of wide-open lay-ups, shot 4-10 from the free-throw line, failed to secure defensive rebounds, and turned the ball over. If we do any of those things we win the game. This one is on the players.

Is the roster his fault? No excuse to not have shooters. Recruit a 3 star that can shoot. Stop being enamored with “athletes”. I don’t give a crap how “smart” guys like Marcus Garret are. Players like him are not going to win games in March. The object of the game is to put the ball in the basket.

You guys are ridiculous. The roster is fine. Sometimes we lose games. Kansas ranks 61/353 in 3P% and 2/353 in overall field goal percentage. I support HCBS and I think he’s doing a great job.

61st in 3p% with probably the largest center in college. If you have a layup with a guy like that and cant surround him with shooters then its a roster problem.

@BShark I put it on scheduling, we never play worth a crap in this game switch it with last Saturday’s game and probably win both. The players weren’t focused and Garrett went down is why we lost. Play a cupcake in this game Bill, the guys are focused on going home for the holidays not basketball.

First road game did not go so well. Why are we surprised in the least bit? Just the heart wrenching end I suppose. Dang I hate losing to nova.

@jhawk7782 Hell, why not huck up enough bricks. You make enough and win? Who cares? They won bricks and all. This Nova team lives and dies by the trey. It will not serve them well in most games. That shot by Samuels was the luckiest dumbass shot all day. They were shooting way too many 3s.
KU didn’t look comfortable at all. Garrett had to be the difference. Nova pretty much knew if a key player leaves the court, they sneak a win at home. But of all the stupid crap in this game, I gotta give Nova fans credit, they didn’t rush the court.

I would not fire Self, however, if he leaves, I’d go after Jay Wright with full force to become our next HC.

Lots of learning to do! We only had 3 fouls. D dot could’ve should’ve done a lot of different things. Maybe he was mentally tired too, Marcus usually does help him out. I hope Marcus is getting treatment.

Maybe so, but they’re still ranked in the Top 10 and not a bad team at all. If this is their worst team then honestly that’s pretty impressive for their program. Also, we lost on the road, by 1 point, without Marcus Garrett down the stretch, in a game that we should have won. I think we beat them in a rematch on a neutral court.
