@Fightsongwriter They talked about Naismith in the first episode, replayed earlier last night. It included an excerpt from that radio interview with Gabriel Heatter where he talked about coming up with the original rules.
You’re right about the East Coast bias, but not too surprising when you consider that the national media in the Fifties and Sixties were even more concentrated in the East than they are today. Also, those college basketball doubleheaders at Madison Square Garden back then were huge draws, as was the NIT, which for a while was considered a bigger tournament than the NCAA.
Besides playing in high school games boys and girls can play in over a hundred games a year with different organizations such as AAU and other travel ball programs.
Most weekends there are tournaments where you can find desired competition. My experience it’s these programs where kids develop the most rather than in school programs. Not always the case but a majority of the time.
If a kid has potential long before high school his/her name is in the conversation.
I think you are getting the terms interpreted in a very narrow form. The Term Main Stream Media is not unique to hard news but to all form of media . The currently accepted definition is: Mainstream media (MSM) is a term and abbreviation used to refer collectively to the various large mass news media that influence a large number of people, and both reflect and shape prevailing currents of thought. Whether we like it or not, sources such as TMZ, Bravo, A&E, TLC and ET are considered part of the MSM since they report entertainment or lighter news in the same way ESPN and Fox Sports report sports news and both are considered MSM; many of these notworks have larger audiences than traditional outlets like CNN.
Most of the stuff I do is very small quantities for custom builds. 3-d works well for what I need since no high strength parts or mission critical components are involved; at time I have even used balsa foam with epoxy or acrylic finish for filler parts…very easy to work. At this time and with the non-commercial printers readily available, even a simple bezel for an iPad takes hours to print and it cannot yet compete with other technologies, such as injection molding, for production type runs. I do have a local source for injection molding.
@approxinfinity Luka Doncic. If you want to compete with the warriors you need all five players on the court able to defend the 1-5. Ayton can’t neither can Bagley. 6’8”+ with guard skills is the new 7 footer.
Pitt team looks good. Usually Syracuse puts together a very good team. Devendorf and CJ Fair usually play.
I would think you could put together a really good group from KU. Tyshawn, Releford, EJ, T-Rob, Xavier Henry, Little, Selby, Kevin Young and Jamari would all be eligible to play and as good or better than everyone else playing.
Just like when Embiid went down. Hard to see a happy ending here. (I won’t even mention a certain magazine cover curse here)
But… on the other hand, I was ready to write these guys off a couple times earlier this season too and they showed me they have a lot of grit. If everyone else puts on their big boy pants, we just might be surprised.
It taught us when SKYNET comes along, regardless of who sets it loose, a hero has to fight to protect virtue, sometimes die doing it, and take elements of SKYNET and turn those against SKYNET and crush it mercilessly. 😀
