Will KU Be Number 1?
-
In no way does KU deserve to be #1. Arguably not even top 5 really. If we want to be honest Duke should be #1.
-
@Woodrow Actually, no one deserves to be number 1 in a poll that has no bearing on selecting the national champion. We beat the team that beat the number 1 team in America. We’re up.

KU doesn’t really deserve it to me, but the record is impressive…
No your spot on BShark . at this point IS NOT a # 1 team , and at this point - -isn’t that much anyways. At THIS point - - right now we are missing something. - We have played from behind so much this season - -it’s not even funny.
Have now seen how when people had said that Dedric is not very athletic - - but he seems like just in the right spot at the right time quite a bit of the time. - -his vertical explosion is almost comical - - but HEY he still finds a way a lot of timers - -I’ll take it
Who out here actually think we deserve to be # 1 based of game performance so far this season? - - -lots of room for improvement. Yet it seems kind of weak even for me to bitch to much when at the end of the day - -we are 8-0 - -Just like last night , when you look at it - - We get beat by 10 on the glass -we shoot 50 % from the free throw line - - we are without Doke - - -Vick has minimal out put- - -yet some how – -some way we find a way to still win. Would just for once this year for us to be able to come out and not have to worry about having to battle from being behind. - -Like I said though , this could be a blessing later down the line - -very battle tested - - let’s just crise for one lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

We will be ranked 1st. I would give it to Michigan right now if I were voting.
I called Tennessee over Gonzaga today. 86-78 was my prediction. BShark can confirm this.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich I believe u!️Maybe not @BShark
-
I haven’t seen the NET rankings since the initial release. Is it updated weekly and posted somewhere? Now that Michigan St, Tennessee and our other victims are beating other teams, I assume our ranking will improve. Polls, rankings and even talking heads keeps me occupied between games; they don’t actually matter, but I follow them anyway.
-

-
Maybe the polls reward us for not losing but if the people who vote watched both the Wofford & NM St games we’d be hard pressed to think we get the votes when they can flip ESPN on and watch Duke beat Yale by 30.
We are undefeated and parts lucky, parts a team that knows how to win and close. Complete enigma right now

@BeddieKU23 This team plays to the competition.

I think its more then that but I’m happy that when the game gets tight we’ve had enough grit to prevail. Dedric did exactly what we hoped he’d do in a KU uniform in the last 7-8 minutes of the NM St game.
This weekend is a great opportunity to play up to competition
-
Definitely feels like #1 by default. Then get dumpstered by Nova and we don’t have to worry about this discussion for awhile.
-
-
@BShark Every time we drove the lane, they stripped us. That is what Villanova does best, along with trapping the ball, setting up isolations on offense, and brutalizing help defense. They have a big, mobile big ( Paschall ) that we have no one who could handle him, along with a senior who is their best defender ( Booth ) who can shoot 3s, along with a speedy point guard who shoots 40% from 3. Other than that, it’s a cinch.

@stoptheflop NET from NCAA:
-
@mayjay Thanks, mayjay for the NET info. Texas Tech ranked ahead of us? We’ve played a great schedule. How the heck does TT get ranked ahead of us?
-
@stoptheflop KU was behind MichState until this poll also. The NET isn’t ready to be viewed yet, maybe never…
-
@stoptheflop Because they beat Nebraska. And they have Nebraska ranked 15th. It’s a steaming pile of poo.

Margin of victory mostly (+10 vs the 3 teams they played with a pulse- Nebraska, USC, Memphis plus the 5 cream puffs). I believe their offense/defense efficiency numbers are high as well.
KU’s margin of victory isn’t helping them so far.
-
@stoptheflop Any anomalies within the conference should be taken care of by selection time.

Jayhawks are #1 in both polls. Kansas received 57/65 first-place votes in the AP Poll. Kansas received 26/32 first-place votes in the Coaches Poll.
-
There was actually an AP voter who didn’t include Kansas, Duke, Tennessee, or Auburn in his Top 25…
-
@jayballer73 I’ve been playing with BShark this year a lot because he will not compliment this team at all. We’'ll be 39-0 playing the last monday night of the season and he will be saying this team sucks, coach can’t coach, cheerleaders can’t cheer, busdriver can’t drive the team right, fans can’t cheer right, janitors can’t sweep right, bench players can’t choreograph 3 pointer celebrations right, PA announcer can’t announce right, band can’t play right, cook can’t cook the hotdogs right, the ushers can’t scan the tickets right, etc.

This type of thing always drives me crazy. Just a guy looking for clicks.

He says it’s because those teams haven’t played a true road game. What an idiot.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich He didn’t include Wisconsin either. He must have his credentials revoked! And they’ve played three true road games and have the nations top SOS.
-
@wissox Or Texas Tech.

It’s a good thing that Kansas can win a national championship without having to play any road games.

I found an article about Graham Couch. It’s called " Graham Couch The Dip$hit Intellectual"
Warning: it’s pretty salty…
http://detroitsportsrag.com/graham-couch-the-dipshit-intellectual/
In fact, here’s a nicer section that’s more suitable, perhaps ( This guy really hates him ) :
Graham Couch is basically Skip Bayless without the six zeroes on his yearly tax return. I mean, the guy is slumming it working for a small paper in Lansing and is still willing to trade in any dignity he might have for a modicum of cheap heat. He’s like a bad guy wrestler whooping it up at local flea market shows or VFW halls.
Well, that’s part of it, of course. The other issue with Couch, in my humble opinion, is that he pictures himself as some sort of intellectual. Except he doesn’t have NEARLY the brainpower to pull off the high-wire act he is attempting.
And nothing personifies his Shemp Wallenda act more than a Tweet he sent out on Friday. But first, a little backstory. As you probably know, three Michigan State football players have been under investigation for months regarding a potential sexual assault. At the end of February, Couch wrote a column where he insanely called that investigation “noise.”
Not only did he cheapen the potential sexual assault of a woman with the word “noise”, he proceeded to basically state that the team’s losing is what’s causing the rape investigation to be a big story. Don’t believe me? Well……
-
As it stands today KU will play 8 teams at least once ranked in the AP Top 25.
-
@wissox - -BShark is pretty silly a lot of times , and he does what he does as I’m sure you know just to get people’s feathers ruffled sometimes - -kind of tongue in cheek though a lot of times - -I just go with him - -he is not a bad guy really just a nut.
But I go forward looking for his posts - -cause I tell you what when it comes to recruiting tidbits Basketball info he is pretty much spot on - -with lots of information - - I know what your saying though - he is allright just being a goof a lot of times. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
IN a way - -wish we WEREN’T #1 - -just makes our bullseye that much bigger. - -Again the only real time it matters to me is at the end of the season with the NCAA title in hand.
The way we are playing right now - - this is NOT the # 1 team in the Nation - lots of room for improvement. - - WE are always going to be top 5 - - worst case scenario top 10 - -I’ll take that till at least the later part of the season - -it will be ok. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@KUSTEVE This quote was a little too much for you? Maybe over the line?! In reference to Couch: “YOU MONUMENTAL PILE OF HORSE SHIT.” Lol.
-
It’s good optics for our game this weekend being #1 but in the same light I don’t want Villanova coming into our own house and getting a W so its imperative we hold serve at home. I do agree though we haven’t played up to the ranking just yet and who knows if we ever will with this group.
Maybe ESPN will write one story this week about KU to match the 50 Duke stories they have in the que already. IF we get just one that looks good right? kidding of course
-
All I want for Christmas is a 20+ point pasting of Villanova…and a Ferrari. Since the Ferrari is not happening I will settle for the win over Nova.
-
I approve of this message

@stoptheflop who cares? everyone knows college bball only matters in March.

Looking at the most recent NCAA Tournament projections, 21/31 games that Kansas plays before conference tournaments are against teams in the tournament field. The 10 games against teams that are not in the field are Baylor twice, Oklahoma St twice, West Virginia twice, Stanford, Louisiana, Eastern Michigan, and South Dakota. West Virginia, Baylor, Oklahoma St, and Stanford are all in the KenPom Top 100. West Virginia, 34th in KenPom and in the first-four-out, still has a very good chance to make the tournament. Louisiana, Eastern Michigan, and South Dakota are in the 130-175 range on KenPom, which is still in the top half of all D1 teams.
So, pretty decent schedule this season for the Jayhawks.
