New 2019 Recruiting
-
I think we are in a great position as well but getting a Cali kid to leave that comfort zone still has me worried. Oregon still feels like the favorite despite their roster that’s full of SG’s and wing types. Stanley could be a real momentum changer for KU going into the spring recruiting period
-
Selfishly I want Devon around 4 years. So far he’s exceeded even the high expectations I had for him. I’m downright scared he leaves after the year if he starts creeping up into the late first round discussion.
And yes the discussion was about Quin. If he does transfer out at semester’s end it would be very interesting to see what schools even have room for him like KU does currently. He’ll be in Lawrence as well this weekend which is really a potential benefit if he did leave

Stanley actually feels like an almost need for us - - - after so many misses this season , really need him - -a big need for that position also. - - Agree gonna be hard - -been hearing that Oregon is leading now - -hopefully Bill and staff stays all over him and we can pull him out. - -I know he really enjoyed his visit. - -we just HAVE to close out - convince him - it’s here for the taking. - -I think he could step right in. - -could really help salvage this year.
He said in his interview though he is in no hurry to commit , possibly sit down with his parents in a bit. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

YA dum me. - -Hadn’t even made that connection that’s right he will be here this weekend. - - If he is even remotely thinking about transferring then when he is here this weekend he be able to see what it’s like game time - -you now the Phog is going to be insane. - -couldn’t hurt. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Evidently Quinerly posted this on instagram right after Nova’s loss to Penn last night. He deleted it shortly after posting.
Also hearing that Quade Green isn’t happy with his playing time at Kentucky and may transfer. Washington is the rumor as far as transfer destination.
-
Sounds like Quade Green might be transferring out of Kentucky as well.
-
It’s official he’s out
-
He is, here is a link…
-
A bad shooting UK team loses it’s best shooter… NIT in coming. I can feel it
-
Why doesn’t he have to sit?

WOW - - I didn’t see that coming , - I bet the " Little Rupps " - -are about to have a melt down lmao - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
He will have to sit until spring semester next yr unless he granted a waiver which seems extremely unlikely
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I think the “without restrictions” in the article is just about where he can go, including to schools in conference.
-
@BeddieKU23 I looked for confirmation of the sit out, and finally found it. In Louisville, the best source for UK news!

I always thought Green should have went to Syracuse. He chased Calipari’s dream. Unfortunate but a 2nd chance might be what he needs. Green always projected to be a 4 year player imo

You took the words right out of my mouth.
-
Green would be an amazing addition, but seems like a foregone conclusion he ends up in Washington.
-
While Green is easily the best 3 point shooter, he also has 15 turnover and only 8 assists in the last 5 games in limited playing time and a liability on defense and hence his shrinking playing time.
-
Green was caught in a tough spot. He’s a good shooter, but on the small side and doesn’t have the elite athleticism to make up for it. He can land at a lower P5 school and probably be their starting PG for a couple of years after sitting out, but I don’t think he is a miracle solution anywhere, just a steady hand to help get things in line.

Seems like he’s basically Charlie Moore to me…

@Kcmatt7 If Charlie Moore could shoot.

Don’t even want tbh.

Can never have enough big bodies. Going to need some guys if we lose 3 bigs.

Beggars can’t be choosers but I’d really prefer a springy forward that can defend the perimeter.

Ok here is a question I got. - - -With the funk Quentin is in right now - - -we are roughly like through a 1/3 of the way through the season - -so let me ask if Quentin can’t get this thing turned around by let’s say oh 1/2 through the conference season then the question become - - - - Do anybody think that there is a chance even the slightest chance that Quentin would come back for a Soph season?
The easy logical answer would be he for should - -but the question here is do you think he would? - Because currently his draft status is in a rapid free fall - - cause Currently he is such a deep funk – really got in his head. At this point I just think he is just over thinking the game to much. – Just go out and play – just turn it loose just go play.
Not only has he lost his shot - - he is not even making layups right now. - - he is making horrible decisions – making bad passes - -he is hurting the team actually - - -not really rebounding - -not scoring - -turning the ball over - -gettin himself in foul trouble - right now is just plain LOST. On top of that Coach Self’s leash is getting shorter and shorter with him -which I think sometimes you just got to let a kid play through things - -if it get’s to a point where to he is constantly looking at the bench to see if he is gonna get yanked – that’s not good. – So what you think? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer73 If Q does not come back, then that means transfer, because if he does not make huge improvements, he has no other options.
And I am not for sure we will lose 3 bigs. DLawson and who else?
-
You can declare for the draft and not get drafted. Happens a lot. Hopefully Grimes stays though.
-
@BShark That is true. But at the rate he is going he would not get a drink of water in the G League. Not sure how many undrafted make it to the show, probably not many. Whether he stays or not, we really need Stanley to push the guards and for some scoring. Sure hope Ochai turns into a steal.

at THIS POINT _ _ _ _as of today—he sure the hell needs too taking a huge nose dive in prospect
-
Kofi Cockburn narrowed his list to 5 and KU was among them. Working on setting up visits to KU, Uconn, Pitt & St Johns. Illinois is up first for him.
I think Kofi is window dressing KU on his list and not a serious threat to leave the North East. He really isn’t the type of big KU needs in this cycle either
-
Oh and for those that care. Matthew Hurt took his 2nd official visit over the weekend to UNC as they beat Gonzaga. I’m sure that game had some impact on his recruitment to date. KU is supposed to get a visit in February but nothing has been set in stone either.
-
Jaemyn Brakefield is still being talked about as a possible reclass to the 19 class. KU definitely is involved but I wouldn’t be surprised if others did as well if that talk continues to heat up.

He doesn’t seem too thrilled to visit KU tbh.
-
I’m sure farmer prolly thinks KU still sits well with him but I dont see it

You’d be correct. I think it’s KU or Carolina. People are reading too much into him taking the process slowly. Like I’ve been saying, until recently he’s been more interested in his HS football team than college basketball. If folks think that means KU isn’t getting him, I don’t see the connection.

I haven’t seen anything - - anywhere where he said he wasn’t interested in KU anymore
-
Which game do you think he makes it in for? Texas Tech Feb 2nd or West Virginia on the 16th if he follows up on visiting in February
-
Based om play to date. the Texas Tech. game will likely be between two top 10 teams and will be nationally featured with conference title implications; the West Virginia game not so much.

I’ve heard Tech on the 2nd.
-
Nice, that could be a great game to attend.
-
TTech will find out what they are made of tomorrow night at Duke. Looks like Ol’ Roy plans on coaching forever. Eight year extension.
-
He is only 68, so he will be 76 at the end of his contract, not really that uncommon anymore. Coach K is 71and his contract goes to 2021 so there is a chance he retires then at age 75 although he might stay on just annoy the rest of the country.
-
The eight year extension is a thank you. Much like Snyder’s five year extension. It also can help in recruiting for at least a while to take ammo away from other coaches saying he won’t be around a player’s full four years. It really has nothing to do with whether the coach actually intends to coach that long. There may even be some sort of buyout that also the parachute to be pulled at a certain point in time.
-
Good points. I will guess UNC and Coach Williams are looking for his replacement and once they find him they will start the transition. At this time I am not sure who they would pick; some of his assistants that were also his player there and at KU are not quite at the elite level UNC would expect and UNC likes coaches within the family.
-
@JayHawkFanToo After UNCs last job search, they can go screw themselves.
-
@HighEliteMajor Matt Doherty should be available for you guys… ( lol …j/k )
-
Quade Green to Washington. As expected.
-
Good spot for him to land. Washington definitely had a need for a PG
