Lance LeGendre

This kid reminds me a bit of Vince Young. Not as big though.
-
@BShark If we could see any on field success AND could sell PT to boot, I think we could really steal a handful of guys out of Louisiana every season.
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah no reason we can’t and we should promote Hull if need be. I’m still fairly weary about this staff though. Several things last year that took way too long to get corrected. Bad evaluators, playing kids out of position etc…
-
@BShark Hull will not have a problem getting a D1 gig after showing off what he can do in Louisiana.
And I agree with the staff. I just don’t think of anyone as a rising star or an impressive offensive/defensive mind. Of course, playcalling is damn near impossible when your receivers and lineman are undersized or basically your entire secondary graduates in a league where everyone but you averages 30+ points per game.
I’m really hoping for a Purdue type of surprise this year… I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the offseason development of our offensive line will be the #1 factor in how well this season goes. I’m hoping to hear most of those guys added 20lbs of muscle.
-
@Kcmatt7 We definitely need much better olinemen.
-
@BShark If you are going to play such a bland style of air raid, definitely.
Our playcalling is outrageously boring. Not a lot of motion. We don’t move the runningback around. There is no misdirection.
They need to find an old Chip Kelly assistant and spark the offense just a little bit.
-
@Kcmatt7 Not only is it boring but we often didn’t block with our best by far blocking WR…
-

We need pretty much, much better everything.
-
@JayHawkFanToo A better oline and a better qb would cover up a multitude of problems. I think oline and coaching are the two biggest issues.
-
@JayHawkFanToo We definitely don’t do ourselves any favors or attempt to cover up our severe deficiencies though. We have tiny linemen, so pass blocking isn’t going to be a strength. But, a lot of zone read and misdirection and speed options and stretch plays will then set up play action and roll-outs so our line doesn’t have to be perfect.
Probably this teams biggest problem is coaches that aren’t self-aware. You can call the perfect play, but if you don’t have players that can execute it, it isn’t the perfect play.
-
@Kcmatt7 It’s not rocket science but with our coaching staff you’d think it is…
-
The challenge that Beaty has is that with some in the fanbase wanting him canned, he can’t pitch stability and other programs can use that against KU in recruiting. KU already has enough against it (away from home, lack of winning, etc) without also having to deal with a lack of stability.
-
@justanotherfan I think most KU fans are pretty forgiving but 3-33 is what it is. Need to see some wins this year.
-
@justanotherfan KU fans have been patient. It’s Beaty’s time to reward us for that. As far as recruiting, a weak Fr. class this year is no biggie if he somehow puts together a 5 win team and can put together a great class the following season.
-
I agree that Beaty needs to get some wins on the ledger this year. One win isn’t going to get it done anymore. He needs three or four wins, and needs at least one conference win. It’s an uphill climb, but we need to see more climbing, less falling.
-
Bright side is Beaty brought in a new QB that appears to be able to run… He has to be our best option. Because everyone else is tied for our worst.
Talking about Kendrick.
-
@Kcmatt7 He’s worth a shot. Gotta be able to run when the oline isn’t great.
-
We were lucky to keep some of the bigger names we had early on from last years class, Beaty must show improvement this year. I thinking he has to win a minimum of 4 games to keep his job but if I’m be honest I could see him fired after a week 1 loss to Nichols State.
-
@kjayhawks I agree. Nicholls is no joke.

Yep, run for his life.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Uh, oh, we were thinking alike again! I was going to post that and then decided I have been on the Dark Side of the football program for too long. So, I am being drawn to the Light Side…if only there were some light this would work!
-
We’re still at a point where the verbal is a big deal because of how good this kid is. It’s also not worth celebrating because it’s not December and he hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet.
Even if Beaty doesn’t survive to year 5, the best way to keep this kid and the other Louisiana kids wound be to have the next HC name Tony Hull as OC.
-
Great minds think alike…or share time in the gutter.
-
@JayHawkFanToo “Hey, I’m floatin’ heah!”
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Do we think Hull is actually capable of being a Collegiate level OC?
-
Me too.

It’d be worth it to give him a shot in order to keep his prospects in Lawrence.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 seems like that’s too important of a position. I agree we should do anything we can to keep him, but that’s a lot of responsibility to give someone who might not be good at it. I’d think special teams coordinator or something like assistant head coach.
-
@Kcmatt7 Hull is already associate head coach. The RB position has also been good enough that I think Hull would be a fine OC. He does have experience calling plays at the HS level and was very successful at the HS level so I would have no issues if the next HC retained Hull and promoted him to OC.
-
Florida St recently offered LeGendre. I expect other schools to do the same. I highly doubt he sticks
-
@BeddieKU23 Legendre already had an offer from Alabama when he committed to KU. An offer from FSU won’t be the reason he would decommit. LSU hasn’t offered yet, that’s who I’d be more worried about at this point of an offer came through than FSU.
-
The 6-foot-3, 214-pound LeGendre said he’s talking with “mostly the head coach,” referring to Pruitt. He said he’s also still hearing plenty from Florida State and Alabama, and he admitted Florida State “probably has the best shot” to steal him away from Kansas at this point.
-
lol
-
Freaking football recruiting.

FSU just took a Top 100 QB so Legendre is one they like to be the 2nd QB in their class.
I don’t believe a flip is likely at this moment until he visits or Walt Bell (FSU’s QB coach and offensive coordinator visits him) but its clear he has his eyes elsewhere right now

Yeah that was my main takeaway, that he is actively talking about who has the best chance to swipe him from KU. And look I get it KU is a dumpster fire but this is why early football commits don’t mean much. Players are actively recruited while they are committed.

Agreed. Football recruiting is a mess and dumpster fire.
If FSU wants him they will get him. It was interesting that this kid came out and said a specific program could flip him. Not a good thing for KU football fans
