I watched the replay, hoping to see some improvement from their last meeting. Boy, I tell you what, Diggy might be the smallest on the court, but heās got the biggest balls. We played a bit tougher D against their bigs in the paint, losing by a single digit against a very strong & athletic team like Houston didnāt look that bad. Offense wise, you can tell team doesnāt practice enough throwing lobs, they look panicking (UHās disruptive D) - you can tell our guards donāt seem comfortable. Harris, couldnāt agree more with some here, is the worst PG in top-25, KUās school history. Cryer made him looks like a D2 PG. Iām looking forward team to pass quality passes instead of desperation passes. 40 vs 70 attempts say it all. FB played 17 minutes only got 1 FG. Thatās a really pathetic offense.

KU starting guards: 34min, 11min(Griffen), 34min; 9 pts., only 12 shot attempts in 79 combined minutes and 1/5 from 3. Itās no mystery why this team sucks. Worst KU team since the Ted Owensā era.

@stoptheflop We just donāt have guards to compete, I think if we had 4 good guards to surround Hunt. We would look a lot like the 2018 team with Doke. Juando is a good guy and I really wish him well after he graduates. He was a decent get in the mist of the NCAA allegations but heās never been the answer for starting PG. He likely doesnāt start at any other B12 school. Yes he made a good steal in the national championship game that help build momentum to start our comeback no one can say he didnāt help but Iām so tired of him living off of that one play for the last 3 years. He also had a huge blunder in the final minute that is right up there with Chris Webers time out if we donāt win. He was on the bench for much of the second half, his stats for that NC game are 2 points, 3 assists and 4 turnovers.

I mean, I was pleased with the effort tbh. Yes, we got beaten, but at least we competed and in some areas they just had better personnel.

Closer game then I expected by a wide margin, so Iāll take the moral victory. However, having watched them give up 20 offensive boards and turn the ball over so carelessly all night just makes it all the more frustrating to understand. That game was once again winnable, and the guys just donāt seem to have the competitiveness to overcome. The same mistakes get made over and over from the same individuals. Itās like their allergic to playing well together.

Rebounding was a major concern coming into the year that wasnāt properly addressed in offseason talent acquisitions. We had Hunter and nobody else proven with no expected big bumps from transfers or returnees. However, a lot of boards that went Houstonās way last night were simply effort based and anticipation. That to me is mostly coaching. Some donāt have it but Sampson coaches rebounding which then trickles down into other areas. There might be a thing or two Self can learn from his peer.
Turnoversā¦ I donāt have an answer for why 23-24 year old adults continue to make the same careless unforced mistakes. Dribbling, passes over the top of defenders, fumbling the ball out of bounds, stepping on the out of bounds line. These things continue to show up in every game. Many of them were avoidable.

Iām just tired of the passivenessā¦he hasnāt even attempted a 3 in 3 gamesā¦.not make! Heās not even attempting 3ās at this pointā¦it kills an offense to get that type of lack of production from a PG

He did not appear to be confident last night at all. Passed up several 3ās he normally would have the green light on. His ball handling has become a major concern out there.

My opinion is that why shouldnāt they? They get paid whether theyāre mistake free or not. They only have to show up and go through the motions. Nobody on this team (I guess) bleeds Crimson and Blue. There is no one playing currently that will ever write a book titled āFloor Burnsā.
Same reason that people at my place of employment come in 20 minutes late, take days off that they donāt have PTO for, do a lackluster job on the rare occasions they are here. There are no consequences. Doing top-notch work and doing almost no work pay the same.

Weāve been spoiled in that KU has seemingly always had a ālead guardāā¦someone who could both distribute and go get his own with confidence. I think thatās where Iām at with Harrisā¦heās just a guyā¦and for sure NOT a ālead guardā. He may have fit as a traditional point guard a few decades ago, but in todayās college basketball he just aināt it.

listened to the Could be wrong KU podcast today some interesting lil tidbits/quotes , they all seem to agree Diggy for sure is the spark kinda of interesting , but yet thing mentioned , they said Diggy can always get his shot , no matter where- - they said the question becomes how can a little 5ā8 guy get off his shot all the time and others struggle so badly?
Now here is something to chew on, can be Good and then also bad , and that was- --We ? KU gave to Houston- --THIRTY SEVEN extra Chanes to score the ball , meaning they Houston had Thirty Seven my opportunities to Score then KU---- from 17 ā Houston offensive rebounds-- & 20 - -KU turnovers.
So think about that for a minute ā - those numbers are not acceptable-- -thatās bad thing- -the good thing from that ?- -we gave that many more chances up and STILL only lost by Six , we had a chance to the very end to win that. ā -Good thing. play that poorly and still have that chance in the final minutes
They Talked about how Dickinson was getting the hell beat out of him every trip down the floor and nothing being called. They was talking about KJ and how he really going up and of course you not hearing near the Calls for Rylann taking more of KJ/s minutes now ā KJ just brins his lunch pail every night, does the firty work.- - -KJ did a great job on Roberts last nightā KJ didnāt play against Houston last time. - - KJ last three game-- -15 points - - -21 pints - -% 13 rebounds- -and last night - -15 points- --& 9/10 from the free throw line.
They also brought out a very good possible point/thought. They said this ought to tell you something ,- -here we are on March 3rd and we have a Freshman RaKease on the floor playing more minutes then your portal guy Rylan Grifin-- sure is a pretty telling sign that the Staff does not felel that Rylan will be coming back next year.
Also mentioned that we have another Streak on the line Saturday-- -KU has won ā 40 years in a row on Senior Night - -think about that another streak broken ?- -they & me too think that streak stays alive- - all Think KU gonna wi Saturday.
They said they came out of this game against Houston not feeling as pissed, they felt because it just looked like Ku for the first time in awhile actually competed, saying our first shot defense was really good- -it was 2nd chance points that killed us.
Tehm they came out with a new Nick name for this time with tourney time coming up , they called it ; DIGGY and the Miracles- -instead of Danny, Diggy wears Number-- 8āhalf of -88 ,- -Diggy is 5ā8- -half of 88ā gotta love it

Juan looks bad when you play him beside guys who arenāt scoring. Heās an assist guy. I could be wrong but isnāt he averaging double-digit scoring this year? His whole stat package would lift considerably if he was on a better team. Heās just the wrong PG on this team. Weād be better with a Frank Mason type PG. But with a better team, Juan suddenly looks rightā¦ like in 2022.

I donāt know if happy is the word I would use because he did have 7 turnovers, but his energy and effort was there all night and helped keep KU in the game until the end.

I canāt believe we beat Duke early on. I know they play in a bad conference but I wouldnāt want to play them now. They were talking about how positive it is having a GM and Iām down with that. Iāve been critical about Self but itās more about the environment surrounding him. If you want KU bringing home hardware, weāve got to keep up with other programs. Weāve got facilitiesā¦ McCarthy Hall, etcā¦. But now itās about building a winning environment around the head coach. Scheyer is building a winning structure around him and we are falling behind.

Heās averaging 9.1 points and 5.6 assists currently championship year he averaged 8.9 and 6.2 so pretty dang close to a wash. Thats one of my biggest Juan (KJ as well besides Dook and the last 2 games) complaints he flat out has not gotten better in any aspect of the game. Heās on pace for career lows in both FT shooting percentage and 3 shooting percentage. We heard the last two years it was because he was playing too much but he is averaging 3 minutes less per game and thatās with Shak being unavailable for about half of our games. Both him and KJ would be great back ups playing 12-17 minutes per game but it could be argued that they have developed less than any 4 plus year player in both the Self and Williams eras.
