1st day of season. 1 upset as UCF knocks off TEXAM. Court storming too. Poverty franchise fans court storm against poverty franchise team.
Texas, ranked 19 couldn’t contain OhioSt and lost a wire to wire win for the Bucks.
Misery lost to Memphis and South Carolina lost to North Florida. SEC loses 4 games on the first day.
Baylor got it handed to them out in Spokane. Baylor always goes out and seeks good opponents early in the season, but that’s a rough way to start as an 8th ranked team.
Everyone else in the league won. OKieSt had to come back to defeat UWGB as old friend Bryce T scored 22.
Robbie Avila, the wonderkid from Indiana St who transferred to St. Louis was going great guns until he rolled his ankle looking like he’ll be sitting out for a bit.
Illinois had a great debut from a kid from Canada named Riley who scored 31 against EIU. Their shot chart was interesting to say the least. It reflects an NBA discussion on 3 pointers that have some calling for a removal of the line calling it boring. I now have 3 streaming services so I can watch all my teams. Head spinning stuff but at least I was able to cast the KU game on the TV and watch UW on the computer at the same time. It’s the new reality and I don’t necessarily like it.
But hats off to the upcoming season, will be fun as always!

Game was at Gonzaga. Tough place to play. Clearly, Baylor was not exactly ready for that.
I do think these are the kinds of games that help teams down the road. They can learn a lot from that game.

Zags are decent and similar hyped place to us at Arkansas. Baylor will give us trouble with their athleticism and length.

One I missed last night was Syracuse winning by only 4 over LeMoyne which I’ve never heard of.

Maybe the biggest upset so far. Columbia defeats Villanova at Nova. Fan part for me is one of my old students plays a bit as a freshman for Columbia and scored 2 points! @approxinfinity His dad owns a barbershop and Gianni has had hair like that ever since I’ve known him. He’s very easy to keep an eye on when watching his team on TV!

Did anyone know SMU is in the ACC now? Dallas, Atlantic Coast, makes perfect sense. At least Stanford and Cali are on a coast.

Ya I knew when all the expansion was going on, They bought their way into the ACC. They even gave up their share of the league Revenue sharing for like Five yrs or more just so they could b accepted. They came in the same time Stanford and Cal did

2nd half was a different story, I wont blame it on refs but foul disparity is something to ponder.
Mayo is a real deal and Flory has a very high ceiling.

I felt like the first half energy was unsustainable. KU came out too hyped and UNC was a bit overwhelmed. An inferior opponent would have wilted away as KU coasted the second half. Kudos to UNC for making it a game when KU went flat.

Hunter defending the last play of the game and running to Self and an old school double five between them. Bill wanted this one. Watching the highlights for the fourth time and noticing one team played chippy and it wasn’t us. I could see the excitement from our studly bench guys and this team may have come together a bit. Spent a couple of service years in NC and very nice people especially Kinston but of the college towns the best action was acquired in Winston-Salem where lots of tobacco was grown and a uniform was an asset. Michigan State game will be it’s usual war.

In other games last night #22 UCLA lost to Nevada. #24 Mississippi only beat Grambling by 2. All BIG 12 entries won their matchups with Colorado coming the closest to an upset (?) when the beat N. Colorado by 2.

I hoped Zeke would be a solid addition, maybe a good 6th man. I was not expecting him to come in and immediately go off for 20+ against a top 10 team with so much speed. Good stuff!

BIG 12 looking strong early. League teams only have two losses and both losses are to ranked teams. Of course Baylor got whooped, but then beat Arkansas. Got quite a few wins against ranked teams already.

B12 has a gaudy record with only the 2 losses, but only 4 teams have played a decent foe - virtually no Power 5 opponents. Basically, the B12 is 3-2 against ranked teams - wins against UNC, Arkansas and TA&M - losses to Gonzaga and Auburn…

Utah is a mess. BYU cheer coach was knocked out by a bottle thrown from the stands during the game. Unbelievable.

I didn’t watch the Utah vs BYU game but apparently they are upset that defensive holding was called extending BYUs games winning drive. While Utah scored zero points and only gained 79 yards offensively in the second half…… odd lol

Purdue’s 7’4" freshman center gone for the season with a broken fibia. Tough news for them and they likely will drop in the rankings. Beat Yale by 8 tonight. #2 Bama only won by 8 at home over McNeese. No major upsets today as the big boys continue to beat up the little boys.

I see Zuby Ejiofor, KU to St John’s a couple of years ago, still has scoring and rebounding woes. Pitino may bench the junior.

Udeh’s 10 points (64%) 9 rebound average is solid. Looks like he’s turning into a contributor.
I was disappointed when they left. I wonder how one or both would’ve developed at KU, but Hunt and Flory are much more talented/better.

@dylans Udeh I was disappointed in leaving, I think he had grown into a solid player. Flory I think has a higher ceiling than both. But with KJ and Hunt on the roster before they dipped out. They knew playing time would be pretty limited.

Haha, I feel bad making fun of a freshman in college but Flagg commits two turnovers when Duke had a chance to tie or take lead in last 15 seconds.

Minnesota scores 14 first half points on their way to a loss to N. Texas.
