Sounds more like Peterson will stay in 25, but they could easily play the 2/3 together.
I am just kinda wondering with KU staff seein Sanon, then him coming in next weekend and sure sounds like he is going to re -classify just really wonder if we don’t end up with him, something might be moving fast I dunno. think were in heavy for sure. - -if it turns out we would have a really nice class in 24

The way I see it, add Sanon and a small guard 6’1-6’3’’ range that can play off the ball a bit/split duties with Dajuan.
Theoretical
Juan/transfer guard (Jordan Pope? I am begging)/Furph/KJ/Hunter
Bench/Reserves: Sanon/Marko/Flory/Philon/Kease/McDowell/Zach
Don’t think it would really change anything if Zach or McDowell transferred and you replace them with another warm body. Might be hard to convince Elmarko to come back but I’m not ready to give up on him if he wants to stay.
-
Khaman Malauch is an interesting one. Sounds like KU or Duke atm.
It is however very hard to see KU managing to roster Hunter, Flory and Malauch. I suspect something would give there and KU ends up with 2/3. Most likely of course being the two currently at KU/signed…

I hope we get him purely to spite the insufferable duke fans. Fit would be pretty weird if he’s getting sold on playing at the 4 but his movement is crazy
-
I would be floored if was us unforch
-
Yeah I mean if Hunter really is coming back there’s just no chance unfortunately. I’m not convinced we’d see anything close to his best basketball in 1 yr in College anyway
-
@BeddieKU23 especially with his brutal testing numbers. As Fran says, he’s two years away from being two years away.

I definitely didn’t expect him to be an incredible athlete, but it was way worse than I thought it would be.
-
Bout the only good Fran quote there is to use
-
Maluach to dook should be done shortly. Hunter becomes (continues to be…) the most important 2024 recruit.
-
Mister McNeeley opened his recruitment back up.
-
Lord please…
-
My man hit that decommit button right after that Woodson announcement

BILL
I saw the Trilly tweet. Instantly boosted my mood
-
They made us tap the sign
-
-
So we have a Chance ? - Again- -fingers crossed
-
Welp after seeing this I immediately went to Indiana board and yep all confirmed. – Sounds like MASS EXODUS. people saying they are screwed, with McNeely wanting out - -leaves them with ZERO COMMITS
Plus now all or the one’s on the board are all saying yep going to KU - -a couple mentioned maybe , maybe Florida seeing as how he is already down thee. -Some saying Coach Self has probably been in his ear for awhile
They are saying Trilly Donovan is saying he coming to KU, then Indiana fans say if Trilly says it-- - then book it, he is usually spot on.
IF he does end up coming could make a big difference number 11 Ranked player, some Indiana fans saying it would be fun to watch McNeely and Flory together. - -IF he does come and then hopefully/maybe Peterson would be sweet… Oh was gonn asak also - - how hard is it to get out of a NLI ? --hope they don’t try tying him up.
-
Well maybe w be in good shape possibly. I see there are already TWO Crystal ball picks for KU & McNeely.- - One is from Swain with a high confidence of 7- – & another from a Marylan guy also picking Mcneely to Ku with a 7 rating- -good start , hard not to get my hopes up
-
Interesting coaching runor that could shake up recruiting is Louisville. They are apparently making a very strong push for Scott Drew. Basically, the job is his if he wants it. Baylor seems like the better job at this point as though.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 think tang would be a back up?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 and probably the primary at Baylor if Drew leaves
-
I’m thinking Tang might be ready to get out of the Big 12, start over.
-
Sounding more and more likely that Scott Drew will take the Louisville job after the season. That’s going to be the a huge shake up in the Big 12 if he leaves because he was hired at Baylor the same year Self was hired here.
-
Kindof surprising. At this point I was thinking Baylor was the better job. Maybe he is just trying to leverage a raise for himself?
-
Wow that’s an awful decision but we know he likes a rebuild
-
@RockkChalkk That general area is also hone for him so that’s likely a big factor.

If true Self needs to go after Vj with everything he has. This team could use that infusion of athleticism in the worst way.
-
Money talks. Baylor also doesn’t have much of an NIL infrastructure so they’re kinda tapped out. I’d watch Tang to Baylor

Tang is the rumored replacement.
If this happens, I’d also be making contact with Love and Nunn to try and get one of them here next season to fill the 2 spot opening KU will have.
-
Also: NIL budget is going up for next year. Commence big game hunting.
-
Thanks for laying all this out guys.

For KU? Last I had heard was 3-4 million for the portal, while also retaining guys like Hunter.
-
@BShark yep, payroll is going up
-
Smart, the price is going up so makes sense

Any saucy details here? Rumor total number before was around 6-7M. Maybe that’s the new number. Would be one of the best around.
-
I don’t think the 6-7 million $$ amount that Trilly floated out there is even in the ballpark. I was told that it was half that just about two weeks ago.

Fwiw I heard, and after coming to him with info on it Swain told me privately he heard basically the exact same number, is that KU is planning to have 3-4 million for the portal this offseason after retaining Juan, Hunter, KJ etc What I don’t know is how other guys potentially leaving would change that number. Zach was the only guy with eligibility left that they were for sure not planning to have about next year. I doubt Jamari would be much of an impact, but I’m guessing Elmarko wasn’t cheap for example.
Wondering if Farmer has heard good intel that it will be higher than this. Maybe Bill got MAD recently.
-
@BShark are you sure Furphy is gone?

No one can be fully sure. I think a lot adds up to him leaving though. If he gets a first round promise he should go.

I’m not sure how much of a “surprise” it was for Liam to decommit but it seemed like he had a pretty hefty NIL number at Indiana, does that change the calculus a bit?

I’d think he cuts into the budget but maybe gets negated a bit by some guys transferring out. It’s going to be a very interesting offseason that’s for sure.
-
@BShark I think so. The going rate for very high impact transfers is north of $700k, which is about average for a KU starter. So just do the math there. Bill is very mad. I don’t have an exact number since some of it is contingent on fundraising but yeah it’ll be at least $4m, quite a bit of which is new money
-
@FarmerJayhawk mad about the whole season, transferring out players?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 pretty much, yeah.
-
Interesting off season coming up!
-
Interesting is an interesting way of putting it.
The last one cannot be repeated, that’s for sure.
-
The way season is looking at the end is a heartbreak considering the games in the summer and all the amazing energy this team generated in November and December.
Things really went off the rails somewhere in late Jan / early Feb. Those wins against UConn and Tennessee and Kentucky, not to mention Houston were special. But the B12 really seemed to put us in a blender.
Was it the physicality? And if so, how do you recruit for that?
I ask because, there was certainly a period where this team looked like it was constructed well enough to make a title run. It was defeating top teams on neutral courts and at home. But the true road gave us fits (Indiana, a mediocre team, was a challenge).
I know shooters would help, but I have a hard time believing that’s going to be a panacea.
-
Biggest issue this year was lack of depth, just cannot go on the entire season without any bench contribution.
Starters cannot play 35+ minutes each and every game.
Ultimately it takes a toll and that’s what happened to this team.
Another point is lack of mental toughness, we needed at least one player with mental toughness of Franks, Devontes, CBs, Ochais, JWils
