NCAA NON- KU GAMES

Grant McCasland gets hired by Texas Tech. Great hire for them. I caught part of the NIT championship in between my Astros opening night, and thought North Texas State looked very impressive. Very well coached team - tough defense. The old man was a huge Tech fan, and he would’ve liked this hire.
How’d your opening night go? :). I know you got us last night.

@FarmerJayhawk I’ve won many a games leaving guys wide open who know they are the fourth or fifth best option. Mentally they know they aren’t supposed to be “the guy” scoring their job is to defend and rebound
Washington state let legerald be wide open at the free throw line at sprint center. He scored over 30 but we got upset
Best way to win is make the guys who’s job isn’t to lead in scoring to be wide open. Let him shoot 10-15 times
Someone text this to Self cause he doesn’t do it
Are you a HS coach in Kansas?

I had to have a long talk with Pressley. Well, actually it was his mom. And it wasn’t face to face- it was Twitter. And I didn’t really have a talk with her- it was a word of encouragement for her. She’s quite the Twitterphile. Nice lady, too.

San Diego St. to the title game on a buzzer beater to win by 1.
-
Man we’ve had some bangers the last couple weeks. Parity makes for a great tournament
-
So many underdogs would win in the tourney if they would play smart. FAU gave this one away. Shooting with 4 secs left on the shot clock, leaving 7-8 secs left for SDSU even if they had made it, was just their final mistake. Barkley (Round Mound of Rebound) totally disgusted by FAU giving up offensive FT rebounds.

Anybody But Connecticut

KSU is hanging a banner if Miami makes the NC.
“One of our former players was in a Natty 2023”
-
@Kcmatt7 Is 35 year old Charlie Moore in Miami as well?
-
Have to say, SDSU’s Brian Dutcher is a pretty good coach, considering how late he got into a head coaching gig.
Record: 150–46 (.765). Just shy of Bill’s .769
-
UCONN is just good. Very good. The end
-
UConn a blue blood in my book if they win it all guys. Time to accept it
-
Give uconn the trophy now it’s ova
Bill needs to 2-3 more here before he retire gotta take advantage
-
Oh god we’re gonna have people saying UConn > KU now
-
@FarmerJayhawk in terms of banners. It’s pretty tough to argue
-
@Kcmatt7 probably even if they don’t honestly
-
@cragarhawk for sure. 6>5.
-
@FarmerJayhawk helms not included we’re looking at 4 in 15 years and possibly 5 in 24 vs 4 in 51 years. I mean I guess it’s all perspective… but ya
-
@cragarhawk Helms have to be, unless pre-BCS football titles also don’t count. I guess if we’re just looking at post-1990 there’s an argument but UConn only has 6 Final Fours. Ever. We have 16. To me there’s not really a case for UConn even if they win it all.
-
UConn is also 25th in all-time wins and 16th in all-time winning percentage. If they win Monday, they’ll have championships with 3 different coaches, which is a point in their favor, but I still think they have work to do in other areas.
-
ESPN posted this on their Facebook a few minutes ago. Jordan Hawkins and Angel Reese are cousins who grew up together and each have a chance to win national titles in the next 2 days.
-
@FarmerJayhawk definitely see your point. To me it’s a gray area. I would say 1 thing about the pre-BCS thing tho… at least those were voted on largely if not completely the year they actually took place rather than 15-40 years after the fact.
Reality is this. Those mean something to us. But they mean less than 0 to anyone outside of KU
-
Bring UConn into the Big 12 along with Gonzaga. UConn does at least have football.
-
@cragarhawk and they can sit and reflect on their wrongness
-
If we’re talking about the modern era of the NCAA Tournament which I consider to be 1985 when the tournament expanded to 64 teams, UConn would be top 5 since that time considering they’re currently tied with UNC for the second most titles in that span with 4 and should be a pretty big favorite to tie Duke with 5 on Monday night. KU is tied for 4th with Kentucky and Villanova with 3 titles since the tournament expanded to 64 teams.
-
The gist is. We can argue all day about who is better than who. But I think the blueblood status at this point is probably a foregone conclusion. UCONN is simply there whether we like it or not. I personally do not… sad face
-
@FarmerJayhawk meh. The type of recruiting and success combined is blue blood level. And with Hurley at the helm they sustain success. If they aren’t a blue blood they’re everything but one. Phenomenal program for 25 years
-
New blood, not blue blood.
Blue blood involves heritage, legacy including many renowned players and coaches, and decades of sustained excellence.
Kind of the difference between old money and nouveau riche. The concept of blue blood originated with the notion that aristocrats and royals had blue blood.
UConn is a member of of the new bb aristocracy, but not a blue blood. Anyone watch the streamed show “The Gilded Age”?

Been saying it for years- SD State is for real.
-
I was really pissed Friday night. We were having storms and our CBS station was doing weather updates (I guess to save peoples lives or whatever) and at 9 oclock, we couldn’t watch Blue Bloods because of it. Is this the Blue Bloods we’re all talking about?

People still watch live tv that isn’t sports?

If it weren’t for old fogies, Tom Selleck would have had to retire long ago.
-
@mayjay but not his mustache, those bad boys are immortal! Lol Had a buddy go cruise the highways in his ‘77 Trans Am when Burt Reynolds glorious stache was taken from us.
-
Lsu ladies getting after Iowa. NPOY on the bench with 3 fouls, getting outcoached by Mulkey, and lights out from 3
-
Was hoping for a better game. It was really offensive the zebras let some basketball break out between foul calls. The T on Clark was spectacularly terrible
-
@FarmerJayhawk So Iowa’s best player got taken out of their game by the refs after they benefitted by calls against SC’s Boston? Always unfair when it isn’t in your favor!
-
@mayjay idk maybe just make the right calls
-
It was a very oddly officiated game to say the least. Even the announcers were saying it. Idk. Not saying it benefited either team specifically. But there just never is any reason for officials to put there handprint on a game that way.
Definitely make the right calls. But honestly just call consistently both ends, 40 minutes. No, it isn’t that hard. A foul now is a foul later. Or a no call now, is a no call later. It’s like teams have to adjust the way they play every 5 minutes at the whim of the officials without knowing what that whim may be. Again, no reason for them to ever put their handprint on the game that way. Sad part is every time you see it happen it does nothing but lend weight to those that say sports is heavily affected by betting lines, Vegas etc., rather than Vegas just being that good at what they do
-
@cragarhawk - I thought the technical on Clark was weak…
