Intrigued by what role Robinson would have here.
Fills a definite need- made 142 3’s at just under 35% in the last two seasons at BYU.
I know it was 1 game but man did he not look like one of the best players on the floor when they beat us in Allen behind his 18 pts.

@BeddieKU23 Doesn’t do much besides shoot the ball. I’d think a bench piece.
I also expect Bill to look to fill the last spot. Rumblings of a visitor (not Jaxson) Mon/Tue.

Definitely not a stat stuffer but he can shoot the rock and is a confident playmaker. I think this certainly gives Self a proven scorer in the rotation and good positional size to switch on the wing/4. You can go 4 out with him which just seems to be something they should have in their arsenal as an alternative look to the 2 bigs. I’m not getting my hopes up here but man I like this add if it happens

Seems easy to imagine that we will have enough talent to settle on a solid 8 man rotation by March

And hopefully another 2 poised to be the man next year. Continuity would be beautiful.

@rockchalkjayhawk hes a 1 year rental. We know what we are getting, and it wouldnt matter if this was his second school. Same outcome. So Im cool with it. I get your point about persona, but you can check in with 3 other coaches and get a pretty good idea of whether the kid will handle it well.

@approxinfinity I thought he was more of the 4 spot similar to say a Josh Jackson type when he was here but maybe I’m wrong.
If we get Robinson the 8 man lineup will be top 1-3 in the country. Now gotta see Bill adjust his scheme to the players and capitalize.
D2 - Zeke - Griffen - Storr - KJ - Hunter - Robinson….8th spot can be up for grabs with Kease, Elmarko or maybe a big getting some spot minutes

AJ Storr is on his 7th… and he will start for KU.

Gonna be interesting ? nice to have some depth for spot minutes.–I think we can see probably Kease , Flory & El Marko for spot minutes. -I feel pretty sur your gonna see Flory get spot minutes to give Hunter a blow. Will miss the scoring in those minutes but his rim protection & Rebounding will help during those spot minute time…

Yeah i would be surprised it flory doesnt get 6-8 min. Bill has had 2 recent bad defensive years by his standards without a rim protector

That is a concern of mine, who are the pros on this roster? In terms of NBA guys, there may not be any. History has shown talent is what wins. 22 had 3 NBA guys and 2 other league pros.
We know Juan/KJ/HD are not NBA guys. Zeke really isn’t either. So the hope would be Rylan/Storr and develop into that. I think Rakease has the potential but this year no. Flory is not an NBA guy unless the jump shot really comes along.

The names on various 2025 mocks are Rylan Griffen as a potential mid first round pick, I saw Flory’s name on one as a late 1st round pick, and AJ Storr as a mid second round pick. There is some NBA potential on this roster according to guys who do mock drafts.

You need AJ to become one of the GUYS in college basketball. I think Rylan is a good second alternative for a potential pro.
Rakease is a potential pro in 3 years imo. Flory will get a shot if the defensive ability is real. That’s about it

@TYOHawk Rylan has a much better chance at filling a 3 and d role in the nba. Storr is a godawful defender. Either way other than Rylan all the pro guys on the team feel like two ways

And if you haven’t kept up on the Jaxson rumblings…Kentucky is convinced he’s the lock of the century if he doesn’t stay in the draft. currently mocked in the second round, if at all.

Yep gotta get somebody soon you’d think. If not it starts getting iffy with late withdrawal guys or non-US etc
Would really rather not be at 11 with a mandatory RS (Jamari) again.
