Transfer Rumblings

I’m not familiar with the history, anyone have a cliffnotes on it they can provide?

With the dead period ending this one could wrap quickly
End of next week possibly.

Rylan Griffen, one to get acquainted with (again).
Yes it’s closing time, this time around
Imagine taking MJ Rice instead looool. Hopefully remedied soon.
-
I don’t recall his game, but the Alabama people seem pissed he’s leaving.
They say he’s a threat from 3, and a good perimeter defender. “Potential” to be a great defender with his size, athleticism.
Skinny for sure.
-
He was a decent enough defender his freshman year then Bama stunk on ice on defense this year (like 100 spots worse in KenPom defense than us… woof) so his defensive stats tanked. It sure looks like it’ll be a much, much different style of team, even more so if Furphy comes back. KJ is going to start but if his main role is really a utility piece at the 4/5 that would be terrific. Zeke, Griffen, and Furphy at the 2-4 gives me heart eyes. It’s a better rebounding team and has plenty of scoring punch.

Is there a shot creator in there, Farmer? A guy who can get to the rim?
-
@rockchalkjayhawk he’s decent at it for sure. His major, major value add is as a secondary threat, like catch and shoot and taking handoffs off primary action. Elite floor spacer that should complement Mayo (and Furphy if we keep him) really well. He’s also a really good passer for a wing which is a nice plus. Overall he slides perfectly into the 3 spot: very, very good shooter, good passer, athletic, but you don’t want him as a primary handler

Carl and Mary Ice Go Cats University is throwing a bag at Mark Mitchell and Ballo

Oh yeah they’ll need knockdown shooters at 1-3 to even kinda make that work. We complain about KJ and Hunter but Hunter is at least a threat out there and a decent FT shooter. Ballo is wish.com Dok

Anyone that can play the PG position?

lol dang now that’s some trolling
-
@FarmerJayhawk Bama’s defense per metrics was 100 points worse yet they made the final four and played UConn the closest compared to other tourney games.
When you run like they do there are more possessions per game thus the metrics defensively look worse yet offensively they were solid
-
@kuballin10 it’s normalized per possession

@RockkChalkk said in Transfer Rumblings:

Juan/Zeke/Philon/Elmarko
That’s already a lot.
-
Sounds like Muzzurah for Mitchell

So , what happened to K/Straight ?-- -Last I heard/seen they had a little CB for him. All I knew was I didn’t want him here

Sorry, wasn’t meant to be a troll. Was hoping we had someone proven to be able to rotate in to the position. I’ve always thought some of the more effective lineups KU has had are when the 1 and 2 are almost interchangeable.

What a fall from the unbreakable brothahood
-
Griffen should be visiting Kansas this weekend.
-
Not much new here, but a bold statement on Griffen.

Apparently it’s my day to read about soon to be Jayhawks. More on Kugel.
Pure speculation here, but I sense he and Self will butt heads. Guys who “get lost in schemes” don’t normally do well under Self.

Butting heads may be an understatement. The two Gator articles call into question why we went after him. Doesn’t seem to be a fit at all with HCBS ball. And, another guard who can’t finish at the rim???
-
Total upside play. He’ll walk into the facility and be the most talented player we have and it won’t be all that close. Just has to put it together
-
Bad day to be a Longhorn. Both Dillon Mitchell and Tyrese Hunter are leaving.

They loaded up yesterday, this is the consequence. Jordan Pope is replacing Hunter.

You think he’s more talented than Griffen?

Portal is crazy with Mitchell and Hunter in……
Push McDowell, EJ and Zach out so we can truly load up with the best players

Absolutely. I know the staff is very, very high on him. He might not put it all together next year but there’s lottery potential there
-
Griffen looks like a shooter, and less of an attack the basket type. a little stiffer, not crazy athletic off the dribble. which is fine.
Kugel seems like he has way more to his game, but maybe as hinted at in some fine print he has some issues in the noggin. hopefully it’s just motivational.

Haha.
Bossi and Swain saying it too now. Things look really good there, visit is probably a formality.
-
Kansas has contacted Tyrese Hunter.
-
A third chance at love!
-
-
We have enough room for Griffen, Storr and Hunter?
Let Furphy, McDowell and Zach walk….maybe EJ as well and roll with 13 schollies?
-
If Furphy and McDowell leave we can go to 13 and get all 3
-
Best lineup but Bill would never is:
Tyrese Hunter
Kugel/Mayo
Griffen
Storr
Dickinson
-
Apparently Storr’s girl friend at Wisconsin has transferred to the KU women’s basketball program.
-
From what I’ve heard Storr is a secondary option. Beers and such say Juan Hunter Griffen KJ Hunt but we will see
-
@FarmerJayhawk a second team of philon pass more zeke kugel and flory could make for some fun practices.
I’m sure that’s the goal is to have legitimate competition at every spot so no one feels too comfortable and practice can be actually competitive.
-
Sounds like Griffen couldn’t wait (to visit). Spotted in Lawrence last night.
-
@FarmerJayhawk This lineup won’t get it done and I’m not sure we land more than just Griffen.
-

Hmmmmmmmmm
Not enough shooting with that 5. Also heard from a reasonable source the Tyrese wants to be the main PG somewhere.
-
@BShark D2 and the beloved pets strike again
Least you are seeing the idiocy in rolling the same 1, 4 and 5 out there expecting different results.
1 and 4 needs change but as I’ve said a hundred times it’s never gonna happen
-
@kuballin10 why spare Hunter in that assessment, clearly he has his own critical flaws: matador D, injury prone, lack of athleticism?
-
@approxinfinity He’s a walking double double of 20 and 10 while the other two mentioned aren’t even close.
Hunter’s issue I feel is more Bill not figuring out how to tell the guys to guard than just Hunter being slow. He is slow and it won’t change so coach him up differently defensively than if we had Flory or some stud athlete at the 5.

Fair, to be clear I feel more strongly about Storr being on the back burner. The minutes distribution will be a fun challenge
