THIS IS MY 3,000th POST!!!
That’s it. That’s the post.
-
@RockChalkinTexas You’re a winner!
-
@FarmerJayhawk Aren’t they Ivy League?
-
-
@wissox yessir
-
Nova UCLA is a rock fight
-
@FarmerJayhawk Then that’s DI, so I don’t get your comment about that it’s the first DI school played since 2000.

The Ivy League canceled basketball last year due to Covid

It’s really the blatant lies that stand out to me.
In essence, K was and is a fake holier-than-thou who can do no wronger. Talks about doing things right and the integrity of the game, while being the biggest and best stacked-deck Doc Holliday-like cheater. And like Holliday, he’ll go down in history as a good guy when, in fact, ehh that’s kind of iffy.

UNC sucks. That is my take
Can I add Ohio St. to that list? Needing a buzzer beater against Akron and only beating Niagra by 10. They don’t deserve to be ranked.

I’m not sure I would trust you teaching someone to read right now, lol! Unless @FarmerJayhawk edited that post because it says 2020, not 2000.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Hah, guess you’re right. I did read it as 2000, suspect he edited but it wouldn’t be the first time I misread something! By the way you spelled Niagara wrong!!

There’s a reason I’m a history teacher and not a reading or math teacher.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I’d forgotten you taught. Hope you’re having a great year.
-
No editing on my end! Blame it on being late on a Friday night

I was not expecting UT to get smacked like this
-
As long as Remy and Bill can keep it together, we won the PG sweepstakes. Carr is not as dynamic
-
@Kcmatt7 we got 3 good ones
-
Timme is absolutely dominating for a guy with no vertical
-
I expected more from a Beard team defensively. Maybe Zags are that good. Or maybe UT is a bit worse than we thought to start. Really expected this game to be better.
KU was after at least 3 of the players for UT, so I’m a little surprised
-
@Kcmatt7 Zags are good. Texas isn’t there offensively yet. They have some pretty inefficient offensive players (Carr/Askew).
Actually more afraid of Baylor atm.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Baylor did lose a guy, right?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Love I think, but their team is still pretty nice. Akinjo, Flagler, Brown, Mayer, Thamba is a very nice starting 5.
-
Imagine those UT football fans leaving the KU game early so they could go home and watch Gonzaga eat their lunch.
-
@Kcmatt7 Sark is in trouble. They have a top 10 recruiting class every year. A good coach? He’d fart out 8 or 9 wins easy every season.
-
Florida/Florida St is on ESPN. Close game until Florida with a nice run. Empty seats seen. Unbelievable! Rivalry game, FSU ranked 20. Florida playing on Billy Donovan court. He should still be coaching there. They were a worthy foe for Kentucky to worry about every year. I like what Billy is doing with the Bulls but he really should have stayed in college.
-
The Villanova - UCLA game was a gem. High-level play. A long string of made shots by both teams in the second half. Fun. Outstanding for this time of the year.
-
@bskeet too bad it was a late night affair . Those teams deserved better

Late even for the West Coast…8:40 tipoff at Pauley
-
@nwhawkfan we were busy with a fb game, plus the post game
-
@Crimsonorblue22 oh, that was Texas - zags game
-
They all blur together after a while. Hate it when there are three or four good viewing choices on a given night.
-
Anybody see Bryce Thompson had 2 pts, today. Ewww.
-
Few tends to have his teams ready early in the year and so they thrash opponents. Since this team has many pieces back…
Yes… Timme doesn’t have much vertical or speed but he plays smart. He has a different kind of athleticism. He’s great at backing people up in the low block and has some pretty quick pivot moves. He’s a guy who has maximized his potential. Just goes to show… I’d rather have a skilled player with brains than with athleticism (if having to choose between the two).
The Zags are a handful this year… especially because they carry a huge chip (thank you, Baylor!).
KU vs Zags… this year? Ha… we’d need the play the defensive game of a lifetime! Big Dave would have more than his hands full. Our only hope would be to apply enough pressure up top that they had a hard time of setting their offense.
-
Gonzaga is the worst matchup in the country for KU imo. Timme when he plays like that will be POY. We have nothing that could stop him from getting 30+. Holmgren is the shot blocker among other things. Imagine Dave trying to finesse score his way over a 7 footer with great block instincts. We’d feed the post anyway like usual and lose trying. I’m not saying Gonzaga is a better team overall, I just think they are the worst matchup for KU.
Gonzaga’s guard play isn’t even close to as good as last season. We know what Bolton is, Nembhard is the catalyst but more of a playmaker then scorer. They have the two freshman guards KU recruited + Julian Strawther a wing KU was after that I liked a good deal.
I think they caught Texas at the right time. Texas was without Vandy transfer Disu that’s supposed to be a big part of their frontcourt. What was left to guard the Zag’s frontcourt was a few 6’8 types and that’s not going to cut it. If you take away Timme going 15-19 from the field Gonzaga shot 42%. This is an outlier game for Gonzaga overall. The game simply came down to Texas inability to stop one guy. Texas definitely looked like a team that doesn’t know how to play with each other against good teams yet. 2nd game in a tough environment on the road. Might see a different outcome if they played in March
-
@drgnslayr I think j the strategy vs Zags would be to play Jalen at the 5 and force Timme on the perimeter. That’s what Baylor did.
Make him such a defensive liability that he’s barely playable
-
The Zags are one of the few teams that’s going to use that 2 big lineup so the right scheme executed a high level can overcome that. I’d like to see a good team zone them up because I don’t think they have the perimeter shooting they had last year.

As I’ve read more about this freshman I’d have to agree. Looks like they are the team to beat right now and likely will stay that way most of the year.
-
@benshawks08 no, they won’t. Will get beat up on the inside by a team that bodies up and has weight, no outide shooting.
-
Checking out Shaka Smart against the Illini. Then the Badgers got Providence.
-
Missouri down 9 to UMKC at the half.
-
@BShark I don’t want to play them! So insignificant! They should test them first! For everything. Make their fans have vax cards
-
Looks like our old friend Shaka pulled off the upset over Illinois.
Guessing that the Marquette fan base will give him a lot more slack than he had at Texas.
-
ROO UP
-
80-66 Roos. Final.
-
ROOS WIN 80-66
MUCK FIZZOU
-
Mizzou, OU, and Texas. Hell of a last few days for the SEC
-
@nwhawkfan I’m not sure if you watched but Illini didn’t have Kofi Cockburn playing and still had a 10 point lead through most of the 2nd half. Then Underwood inexplicably let one of his guards Carbelo throw the game away. He committed turnover after turnover, and/or poor shot after poor shot. I still cheer for Illinois a bit as a native of that state and I was really pretty pissed off at the result. Brad really blew it.
-
Wow, last time I saw a Roos score they were losing by 40 to Dotson & McCormack’s career day at the Sprint Center. Good to see Methzu still sucks
-
Bryce Thompson’s stellar shooting at KU translating well to Oklahoma St so far.
In 3 games shooting a blistering, wait for it…
40% FG, 27% 3ptFG%, 33% FT%, 0 assists in 78 minutes.
