Stony Brook could be a trip up game
-
Last 7 minutes have kinda sucked but then the line-ups have been bizarre so idk

Clemence is kinda soft. Which makes sense now
This is why I’ve been projecting Clemence to end up being a stretch 4 long term. His game doesn’t suit playing in the low post as he’s a guy who works better face up away from the basket. Having Udeh coming in will allow Clemence to be a 4 long term under Self.
-
Zach you aren’t blocking that shot bro. Stay on the ground
-
Great to hear the chant again !
-
First chant of many more to come!
-
The sloppy finish is what happens when 4 true freshman and a walk on are on the floor together.
-
Sloppy chant. We need to tighten this up, people.
-
The +/- are about what you would expect from watching the game.

Night all. Stay safe! Just passed my 5 year cancer free See you for MSU

As much as Remy isn’t exactly a Bill Self PG…Bobby might be the definition lol.
Bobby looked ok- solid think he will see some time
-
Like I said earlier , Really Deep play really aggressive should be no reason for foul trouble
-
Just think on top of tonight- we still - -Have Jalen & Hands going to be around here before long too. - - - -DEEP
-
Lol at Remy only playing 18 minutes.
-
@RockChalkinTexas that’s the best news! Really happy for you!️
-
Kinda disappointed with cam.
-
Remy and Harris, plus och, cb and BD look pretty salty. Jalen?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Bill would do well to looks to run plays to get Cam looks from three if he is going to play him but it goes against his nature…
-
@BShark so we got Mitch for a 5 back up?

I was happy with Remy, Harris, Dave, Ochai, CB, Bobby. Yesufu was solid despite missing shots. KJ better than I thought based on things I was hearing. Everyone else underwhelmed for various reasons but I can’t imagine we see Zach or Cuffe get real game action this year so they are not a concern. If Bobby is this steady against D1 comp I want him getting minutes this year and I am very much buying what I’ve heard about him being the future of the program.
Our core guys (the first 5 I listed) played well. JWill is a core guy when back. Good 6 man core there.

I still think it should be Cam, but it’s a bad scene for sure. Need JWill back, one of our best 6 players easily and has good size.
-
Obviously KU wins this game by over 50 with real rotations but I’m glad Self experimented. If not tonight then when.
-
@BShark What about Coleman-Lands?
-
@COHawk injured so he did not play
-
Will he be part of the rotation?
-
Emporia St. is a bad team. They were picked 9th out of 14 teams in the MIAA this year. Self also did a ton of experimenting tonight with line up combinations that we’ll likely never see against a Michigan St., Alabama, Kentucky, Texas, or any other good team.
Cam Martin was a D2 player for a reason, even though he was a very good D2 player and that’s his lack of athleticism. I know that there was some early talk about him and Dave playing together, but there’s no way that should ever happen in a meaningful situation.
I think the back up 5 spot may end up being situational between Cam and Mitch.
-
@COHawk said in ESU Game Thread:

He should be because he’ll mostly be backing up Braun and Agbaji.
-
I like our guards this year
-
This team needs McCormack to play as many minutes as he can a night. No doubt he’s going to have to find a way to stay on the court

Pretty much figured this, but last night definitely confirmed it.
-
Already tired of the narrative that Remy is “wild”. Think this fanbase has forgot what its like to have an aggressive scoring guard. They should be the standard here, not just a 1 year thing
-
I wonder what happened to exhibition games against good teams? We used to have these games but it was against a national team from Serbia or something like that and they were usually very competitive games.
-
@wissox I think the exhibition thing goes back to Roy Williams… started rotating games against the smaller in-state schools to give them a financial boost.
-
@DanR Thanks. It seems like most schools have gone that route for their exhibitions so I still wonder what happened to all those barnstorming teams that had an aura of communism around them when they came to play all the blue chips in college gyms across the country.

oh ya I remember those dys. KU seemed like was playing Russia every year or we would play let’s see I think they were called Athletes In Action - I remember those guys, not sure what happened with them
-
@jayballer67 Athletes in Action is a faith based team that uses college athletes with a mission mindset to use sports to spread the Word. They do have some very highly skilled athletes capable of competing with division I teams in many sports. Not sure if they’re still doing the fall exhibition season or not.

I dunno either, just remember we used to play a lot of exhibitions against them before, we started rotating the smaller Colleges
