Being in Vegas would be sweet as a coach. Tons of AAU tournaments in your backyard. Findlay Prep there. You’ll get visits you may have never otherwise gotten because parents want a free trip to Vegas.
Honestly it is probably more shocking UNLV isn’t better on a routine basis.

I always liked Lonnie , maybe cause he was a local kid. Grew up really close here to Topeka, didn’t like him playing at K-State but overall good guy , he will be missed

It took me awhile to appreciate him as a coach after rooting against him as a player, but he had a great career.

What about Porter Moser? This would be a great move for him. Compared to Indiana, the OU fan base has reasonable expectations.

So he was likely to be fired I surmise. When is the last time a conference tournament champion was going to fire their head coach? Team will be getting rings - very interesting.

Pettiford mentioned he will wait until mid to possibly late April after meeting with KU coaches. TyTy will likely announce next week.
Believe it was mentioned by someone that knows, KU talking to Pettiford was to try and get TyTy to commit.

@jayballer67 Yes but they would also 100% take him if TyTy goes to say, Illinois. The allure of starting at PG for KU is strong here though, to be sure.

I liked his size and he has some game, not sure how well he did at IMG but his ranking went up a good bit since he became a Texas commit. Nice 4 year guy somewhere was my thought since KU was recruiting him

Well One thing for sure , The Big 12 gonna have plenty of ne faces whether players OR Coach’s. - -# New Coach’s Texas - - Oklahoma & - - Iowa State - - & it’s early just kind of wondering how hot the Coaching Seat is for Jamie at TCU - -could be a 4th ? - I know I’m Crazy but have always liked Jamie, NO not saying I would eve want here by any means, but for like where he is at TCU & Such - -thought he got kind of a raw deal at Pitt.
Side note not sure if anyone is aware or even cares just throwing it out. K-State and Ol squeaks losing a FOURTH PLAYER to the portol

Person said and makes me wonder possibly with these new Coaching openings here at Oklahoma & Texas you think either of these Schools would ever probe Rick Pitino at Iona to come be their next Coach ? - - - Just asking guys ? I know he had problems at Louisville & not saying I’d be in favor BUT I think one thing he does add is some really quality and Name to the League - -pretty decent Coach. - -He said he was perfectly happy at Iona but if he was given the opportunity to come to a major P-5 program do you think either of these schools would try and make contact - - get a read/feel of what he thinks? you think Rick would be interested - - just curious guys

Some Texas fans are putting his name out there of rick But I don’t think he would go to any big 12 school cause I don’t drink he wants to mess what hes doing at the school hes at now as men like you know getting players and coaching good

I think your spot on - -all counts. – On top of that I think if they reach out to Rick and he shows ANY interest about the job - - it being Texas I would think they have some pretty deep pockets to make it an attractive offer. Has a proven record of success. ACTUALLY in a way I think I would like to see him come, they could be even more competitive with Rick and would be I dunno a good move for Texas

@Marco He was at OU for a decade… that’s quite a long time. And his shortest stint anywhere was 4 years.

@jayballer67 Name recognition is all well and good, but I think of Texas Tech when they hired Bob Knight. Another big name with a questionable past. Yeah, he put seats in the stands, but it’s not like their program made all that much progress on the court.

Sounds like Beard is going to be UT’s top target, but if an agreement is reached, wouldn’t happen until next Thursday at the earliest because Beard’s buyout drops to $4 million if he goes to another Big 12 school.

Those two brothers whose name I’ve forgotten already from EWU are transferring. Doubtful they’d travel east to a school like KU but a 3 point shooting big sounds cool to me!

Beard is a UT grad and got his coaching start their under Tom Lenders. That’s why Beard’s name is connected to Texas.
