Based on what I’ve seen the past few games, and considering how we’ve played against “lesser” opponents all year long:

I predict we’ll score more points than Virginia has so far tonight. Only at 38 points with 4 minutes left in the game.

That was a god awful display. Either Virginia is really not good/possibly bad or Colorado State is sweet 16 material.

Virginia just didn’t belong. That was their 8th game scoring under 50 pts on the season and their season low in pts for a game was 38! In late February they went 3 straight games scoring under 50. The committee drank lots of bleach when looking at their resume and putting them in

Ok, with this team, I don’t have much expectation. A loss is likely coming sooner than later. BUT…
I absolutely will not accept a loss to a team with a dude with a man bun!

It’s really an odd feeling today for me. I don’t think I’ve ever came into a NCAA Tournament game where I thought we had such a slim chance of winning one game. Obviously we have had 2 first round losses under Bill and I believe Roy had zero both here and at UNC. Been a few years like 2019 or 2015 where I thought sweet 16 was the ceiling but with this team a first round win maybe the ceiling we can hope for.
I really hope Elmarko starts, I think we will need his ball handling skills because they do like to press and push the ball. We also may consider running KJ at the 5 with athletic ability and only play him and Hunter together sparingly. We will need to value each possession and not have turnovers. I think we have to slow the pace of the game down. Shortened bench and such we don’t want to go up/down the floor with them.

74-61 KU. We should really be able to get any shot we want. If we have less than 10 turnovers this could be an easy blowout. Break the press and get easy layups. Half court offense should go completely through Hunter. Could be a 25&15 game for him.

Seems that too often on here we fear the other team and wonder how on earth we can adjust to them. What are they thinking? They lost by 50 when they played against Purdue and their big center.

Jayhawks 71 Sams Club 61. Leading scorer Hunter Dickinson 21, Furphy feasts on their small size and gets hot from outside (I don’t really believe that), DaJuan feeds the giant in the lane on the way to a double double and we randomly get upset with the rest of the team.

I sure don’t fear these guys, of course I’m not on the floor either lol. I respect them, you need to respect any team - -to an extent. they press all the time, every where and with the thin bench , yes that could cause issues, this is where we need El Marko more fore his ball handling to go with Juan, he just has to keep his poise because it will be intense - -they come at you in waves - - play all twelve so they say - -ten of them average over ten minutes , could wear you down.
They have 6’9 guy pretty much mr everything the way they talk. Hunter will have to respect his outside game because they say he can hit the three. the one thing for sure we can’t afford if for Hunter to get in to foul trouble- – - - -Respect them yes - - Fear them no

KU is prone to turnovers but I’m hoping a combination of EJ & DJ can constantly break their press for easy baskets. If not and they get hot from 3, it’s anyone’s game. Hoping for 81-61, good guys.

Wow, no Samford game thread? Timberlake came through, but damn that missed dunk and the phantom foul call sure taint KU’s win. Great outlet pass by Hunter to find Timberlake. I didn’t think KU had enough inbounds plays given KU knew that Samford was going to press on all inbounds plays. Every inbounds play was an adventure for sure. March Madness baby. Now, KU needs to have a great game plan and great execution to beat the Zags.

@nuleafjhawk Gonzaga is playing their best games of the season right now and will get several hours more rest. I think we can beat them if we play extremely well but probably not likely. I’m personally just happy we won a game in March. A couple of weeks ago I wasn’t sure we would so I’m not upset.
