2023 Transfer Portal
-
Sooo players from Tech will be available. I like Jaylon Tyson.
-
@BShark I mean that is a good team that just didn’t quite get it done this year. I’d definitely be making calls.
I’m interested in Isaacs if he’s willing to openly compete. Tyson can do everything you’d ask him to, and would fit right in. Aimaq proved he can do it against good competition. Batcho would be the best true big man on our roster right this second.
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah not sure we take a big but if Zach leaves (prob best for both sides) then you’d have to take a look at Batcho. Not as interested in Isaacs but there is some talent there.
-
@BShark Isaacs has the “it” factor. You hold your breath everytime he shoots because you think its going in. Probably a better fit at a place like Miami or UNC where they just roll the ball out and play.

Agree. Not a great fit here.
-
@BShark curious why not? Is it because of all the guards we have coming in?
A true shooting 2 guard like pop who can play alongside mr assist in juan would be a good fit I’d think.
Explain ur logic u know some ball and clearly connected
Tyson and the big 11 from France I’m on board with.
We need: Legit big scoring 5 Crazy athlete who can do all 3 phases at the 4 Shooter at that 2-3 spot who can attack
-
@kuballin10 Doesn’t play much defense and definitely a “free spirit” on offense. Both of which tend to get players riding the bench for Self when he has options. I think he is a good player but not the kind of player Self prefers.
-
@BShark makes perfect sense to me
Self 101
- defend
- run my stuff and once you have my trust you can free lance within it
Can see why you wouldn’t be a fan. Pop isn’t an elite athlete either from what I can tell

Yeah he isn’t a great athlete. Helluva scorer though.
-
Grant Nelson with a cool 18 and 20 so far

This is one I’d be in favor of. Get Grant and get me an athletic wing.
-
Ledlum officially in the portal. Mmm

Who is this BShark - -someone we would want if he entered ?
-
@BShark That one will be a fight, and I’m not sure it is a need for us is it?

Would fit okay. I like the Tech kid better for sure. And yeah this will be a long line.
-
Tyson is the play if he’s available.

Would imagine most of Tech’s roster being available.
-
Yeah, would be stop #3 for him.
Fisher is an intriguing prospect as well, was a 5 star type in the 24 class and reclassified. Another year for him and he’s going to be good.
-
The top transfer option has to be a big time scorer, preferably from a P5 school. And honestly, Tech doesn’t have that available so none of their players would be the top of my list.
And without knowing what the transfer numbers will look like for KU, it has to be a minimum of two players with scholarship numbers for next season. If more end up transferring, then look at other options.
-
Rumors that Eddie Lampkin will be in the portal soon.
-
@BShark no, you?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I would not want him, just mentioning it. Sounds like he won’t play again for TCU this year either.
-
-
@Kcmatt7 Yeah, not a great look.
-
Hmm
-
Im wondering how much of the racial issues coming out regarding coaches is rooted in the culture of exploitation inherent in amateur sports, all of this seems to be normalizing after NIL to where the athletes party feels empowered and speaks out.

That’s not a good look. Something is up there for sure. Folks don’t sound happy at all - side note this hurts TCU for sur mainly possibly because he was a big boy - -energy maybe no elite scorer but could mix it up and get some - -sad to see. - -Something in TExas - - TExas - - Texas Tech - & this at TCU mercy
-
@approxinfinity I definitely need to hear more of the story here before I suggest Jaime Dixon did anything wrong.
BUT I would imagine the bigger role at play here is the ability to transfer without sitting. Moreso than NIL. Just my thoughts…

That’s awesome news.
-
I don’t know Eddie but the way he conducts himself on the court is not a good look for him getting sympathy

Yea right or wrong, this was my first thought as well. I wouldn’t exactly call him a “stable” person, just based on his on-court antics.
-
And that maybe is a poor way to look at this but we have 2 years of watching his antics and they are not mature ones.
TCU took a huge gamble on him, he was 300+ pounds when he arrived and worked tirelessly to help him get in shape and now we have this… brutal
-
As long as Dixon has been around and not having heard a single complaint about racism, this seems really hard to believe. Some just want someone else to blame.
-
He’s hardly played since he got hurt during our first game. I couldn’t believe they put him back in since they were up by so many! Pretty sad deal no matter what the deal.
-
Lampkin will be just fine. There are dozens of teams who will take him. Just not here.
-
Some talent joining the portal already from smaller schools. Nothing that I would say should be a priority. I fully expect this staff will only focus on players from P5 and the bigger schools when the time comes.

KC kid, would have a year because of covid. Not in the portal yet I’m just spitballing.
-
I was intrigued with him at one point, has certainly become a pretty good 3 point shooter with 200 makes in his career, good for 39% in 4 years. Admittedly haven’t seen him at all this year but the numbers were solid enough where he might be worth a look
-
@BeddieKU23 Yeah if he enters the portal we should inquire. Fits what we are looking for.

Just as long as we don’t miss out on the occasional jewel at a Towson St or an Appalachian St. Ya know?
-
@bskeet I actually feel like we saw small school players translate to P5 basketball pretty well this season. Something the staff should keep in mind.

Pastner was just fired so this guy should be available. Not a three point shooter at all but when has that stopped Bill.
-
That’s a good point, there will always be exceptions. Joe being a recent one from Drake.

A couple real dudes will be available soon.
-
Elijah Fisher in the portal from Tech
-
Sky Clark, Devin Ree & Kamari Lands all in the portal. Former top 100 kids
-
Ole Miss freshman guard Amaree Abram in the portal. He was recruited by KU last year down the stretch before going elsewhere. Avg 8ppg.
A 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard out of Port Arthur (Texas) Abram appeared in 33 games and averaged eight points, two rebounds, and two assists for the Rebels season. He plays with a “win at all costs” type of mentality and has a very serious and mature approach to the game. On both ends of the floor, he is relentless and displays an incredible amount of toughness.
He has an attack-first mindset and is always looking to make high-effort plays on the defensive end. Abram is naturally more of a scorer than a passer who has a little mix of everything in his scoring bag. He can get to the rim, finish through traffic, nail the jumper off the bounce, or score with the in-between floater.
-
@BeddieKU23 Shot .364 on 107 attempts too… Would say he will probably be able to score the ball in the next couple of years.
Probably could do better. Probably could do worse.
-
@BeddieKU23 I’d be very in on Skyy Clark if he didn’t basically quit midseason.
