@BShark I know it’s a pipedream, but I’m hoping to have Hunter fill the 2 spot. I know he is also a smaller guard, but he was a great defender last year and was a huge part of ISU making it as far in the tourney as they did. Bill has shown he loves having two primary ball handlers on the floor at the same time, but I’m not sure how Hunter feels about sharing PG duties with Juan. From what little I’ve heard, Tyrese wasn’t sold on the idea of playing with Juan, but I don’t really know.
If that doesn’t work out, then maybe Malachi Smith? Terrific rebounder and a go to bucket getter. I haven’t seen him announce any kind of list of interested parties, but I’d be very surprised if we haven’t reached out already. This of course would mean someone has to be shown the door unfortunately, but Mosley + Hunter/Smith would be at the top of my wishlist.

Agree! I haven’t seen that we have reached out to Smith, but he is a great player.
-
My wishlist in order is Mosley, Hunter, Council, McCullar in terms of who we are known to have reached out to and are in solid standing with.
From what has been shared recently it really seems like we will only have one spot to fill. I won’t go into details since it’s in premium but Bossi was very clear on 247 premium about it.

Pass so hard on McCullar. Super mega pass.
Dude cannot shoot. He doesn’t finish well at the rim. He is probably more of a below the rim player than Jalen and that’s saying something. There have been at least 10 portal players I would rather have than Kevin McCullar.
He’s really slow and methodical. We need some quickness.
-
Mercy seen in a draft off CBS that had Ochai going # 7 to the Kings. Mercy , now come on be honest who in Earth would of ever thought Ochai would EVER have a chance to be drafted that high when he 1st stepped foot on Campus?- I figured he would be solid/good but projected at # 7 ? - Jumpin Gee Hossie Fats Maynard.
Also saw they had Christan as the # 25th pick going to the Spurs - - Awesome

Mosley isn’t exactly quick but whewwwww he is a bucket.
-
@BShark the pic of him without his shirt, doesn’t exactly look like he’s been lifting ️. Looks pretty soft. Needs to leave his shirt on. he was my choice til I saw that. I think I’ll let coach pick.

Mosley isn’t quick, but he is just so good offensively… I think we have to have him.

That’s awesome! Hopefully that holds. It really speaks to Och’s work ethic and how much he improved during his time here. Also, what a cool story for a Kansas kid out of Burlington who lead his HS team to 3 straight state titles, a natty, and now he gets a chance at the league. So jealous (I’ll just blame my bad jump shot on being 5’8" 165, right?..right…?)!
Definitely gonna miss both of these guys. Especially Christian’s fire. I loved seeing that from a Kansas kid!

@jayballer67 - Ochai to the KINGS? That’s NBA hell!

Boy your right for sure. Och did develop , took his game up another notch again I mean afte watching him knew he was gonna be a good player but in total honesty It is beyond my wildest dreams that he would eve be a 1st round pick in the draft.
Now Christan - - Christan the kid is a whole different story lol. I’m lie you I think anyways at least in some aaspect. - I’ve made mention of this before here and have no problem saying again I like you love Christan’s fire as you say. See I love seeing a kid that shows some emotion, some fire , Cockiness ? -Maybe he does/is Cocky - - so what ? I LOVE a kid that has that edge. There were times when Christan would flush maybe even on someone and he would have no problem letting them know- so what ? - -thats the kids fire as you say his competitiveness coming out in him - - -His well shown where he flash’s the THREE and thumps his chest looks over and says " BITCH " , the kids juices are flowing his fire for the game - - his fire for winning - -his fire for making that big play - I love that. Is that agorrance? Maybe , but thing is if you can throw shade -and you got game to back it up - - - -GOOD FOR YOU - -get some Big boy.
There is people here that don’t like that - -don’t think KU kids should do that - -they say it’s lack of class - -you know what I say that’s BS - it’s a kid that wears his love of the game on his sleeve, I’ll take Christan’s approach , his cockiness , his edge , his competitiveness ANY DAY ALL DAY LONG over so many of these players that make a big shot at a crucial time or a big defensive stand and simply show NO emtion and go the other way like a zombie - I’m like you I think to some part anyways -I LOVE CHRISTANS FIRE and am gonna miss it for sure.
I’m sorry I’ve been here awhile but this is the 1st I’ve seen you - -but really glad your here good to see ya. Always love hearing others views whether you agree or disagree. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

FFS! NO KINGS!
-
Yeah, Kings were not a great franchise for our previous first team All America (BIFM)
-
@bskeet was ok for Scot pollard?
-
-
@Crimsonorblue22 That was a long time ago (no offense to Scot! - I’m older than he is… but the franchise today is not what it was.)

@bskeet I agree!

He came on fine late, just started abysmally. I’d like him back but if he blows up he gone.
-
Would be pretty devastating to see him go too. But I’d get it.
Really the shame in it would be that they could have landed Schierman but figured JW would be back

Wilson is an interesting case at the next level. He’s good, and there are guys that he could model his game after, but his limited athleticism mean he has a very narrow and very specific path to NBA success.
His best bet is as Kyle Anderson. The guy is nicknamed “Slo Mo” and comes off the bench for Memphis. He is a good player at the NBA level, but limited athletically to the point where he can’t really be a star, though he will probably have a nice long career.
Wilson is a better athlete than Anderson, but probably not quite as good a shooter, though he certainly could develop into as effective as that in the NBA over time. Anderson developed quickly as a shooter, starting at 21% as a freshman at UCLA, but has been serviceable in the NBA (career 33%). Wilson fits best with a winning team or good organization (think Heat, Spurs, Bucks, Celtics, Suns, Mavs) as opposed to a rebuild (no on Kings, Rockets, Pistons, Knicks, etc.).
The question is whether he’s better off starting that journey now since he’s already 21, or waiting until next year. If he shows good outside touch, its worth being a second rounder because his draft stock won’t improve much because of his age and limited upside, unlike a guy like Agbaji whose athleticism makes it possible that he becomes a high level starter in the NBA (why it made sense for Ochai to return last year but may make sense for Wilson to leave this year).
-
@BShark never saw those 3’s, not that many!
-
You can see his confidence! With play like that, he may well stay in the draft. I’ll be curious to see what feedback he receives.
-
Wilson’s stat-line was 6/10 from the field (4/6 from 3), 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 0 turnovers. And also 5 fouls. That’s pretty good. The 3-point shot is obviously a big key to him having success in the NBA. The other key for him I guess would be not being a total liability on defense in the NBA, which… ya. I didn’t watch any of the game, just looked at the box score. The 5 personal fouls may be an indication that he was trying to play defense.
McCormack was 3/6 from the field, 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 turnover
McCullar was 1/7 from the field, 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals
-
Wilson!️
-
Good for J will. Still not getting drafted. One performance changes little
-
I’m pulling for JWil always! But I watched those highlights and he played against no competition. Was that an “under 6-ft” league?
-
JWill looks like a stud in that clip.
-
@drgnslayr It wasn’t the under 6’ league. That’s the league I’m in.
-
Jalen going to the show. They may not have to get creative with the roster after all

Called up to the big league combine, huh. We still got a chance!
-
If Jalen goes I hope Spurs get Christian and Jalen (not really a possibility, but I can still dream)
-
with the 9th overall pick, the San Antonio Spurs select… Ochai Agbaji!
with the 25th overall pick, the San Antonio Spurs select… Christian Braun!
with the 38th overall pick, the San Antonio Spurs select… Jalen Wilson!

To paraphrase Matthew Mcconnahey in Dazed and Confused, what i love about the NBA draft is that while the Lakers get one year older, the rest of the league stays the same age! Giggity.

-
@approxinfinity whoops . With the 20th overall pick, the San Antonio Spurs select … Mitch Lightfoot?
-
I was looking back over recent draft classes… enjoyed particularly the 2013 class which the nba had no clue how to evaluate as is evidenced by the order of picks. Im assuming because the talent was largely international big men, they didnt get it right. https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/history/?Season=2013
-
@approxinfinity Giannis 15th pick…lol.

Speaking of Matthews, it appears Matthew Mayer is going to UNC. Going to take the Brady Manek role.

I think he’s ready. Not sure if he gets drafted, but he has plenty of talent to do the grind, and put himself in position to make money off his craft. Great kid- made a 180 after the DUI.
-
Want Wilson back more then any transfer. Way more important
-
If Wilson keeps shooting like this, he’s a second rounder for sure, maybe an end of the first guy. Biggest issue is his age. He was old for his class to begin with since his birthday is in November. Then he redshirted, meaning he’s another year older. He played this entire season at 21. If he returns, he will be just a few weeks from his 23rd birthday making his pro debut. Compare that to Ochai. He’s just seven months older than Jalen Wilson. Christian Braun is four month younger.
I’m sure Wilson’s people are weighing that factor carefully. At this point, if he has interest, he should leave because he’s losing a year of his pro career - even assuming longevity for him, Wilson probably won’t play past his age 35 season, which would give him either a 13 year career if he goes now, or a 12 year career window. Rookie contracts are 4 years long, so his rookie deal would either expire when he’s 26 or 27, when he would negotiate for what would probably be his only big contract (a four or five year deal that takes him to his age 30 or 31 season).
I comped him with Kyle Anderson before, and I think the comparison works. Anderson entered the league at 21, while Wilson will enter at 22 essentially. After playing out his rookie deal in San Antonio, Anderson inked a 4 year deal at the midlevel exception, which got him around 9M per year. His deal expires this year and he will have a chance, at 29, to negotiate one more decent deal, probably at the MLE again. Wilson will finish his rookie deal at 26, then get a shot at the MLE. Because he’s older, he may not get a shot at a second MLE deal, and may have to sign for a veteran’s minimum type contract after his second contract expires. That could be the difference in making $70M+ in his career and making less than $50M, especially if he waits another year, meaning his rookie deal expires at 27, and a MLE deal expires at 31, at which point teams may be looking to get younger rather than signing a more expensive veteran role player, which is where Jalen Wilson projects.
This decision to stay or go could literally be a $20M+ decision for him. I wish him all the best. I will be rooting for him.

Ochai’s numbers were terrific. 6’11 wingspan, 2nd highest vertical, 4th fastest sprint. Should put him firmly in the top 10. Really hoping he goes to the Spurs
