KU vs USC game thread

Remember when we were ranked 3rd in the country. Wilson couldn’t be stopped. Braun was hitting 3s…then 2021 turned and went all down hill. 2020 was such a good year

Matchups were a nightmare. We will be back strong next year!
Would like to believe that, but based on what? We still don’t have an elite PG, shooters, or mobile, athletic bigs on the roster or coming in as yet…
-
Everyone that has played tonight can return. Unlikely that Garrett will but if this loss doesn’t motivate them to get better… such a young team but the upperclassmen are not killers. They are finesse role guys that need killers
-
Where does this rank all time in worst KU losses. Does this make the Top 10? Tourney only? All time? Not vintage team of course but a beat down is a beat down.
-
This game was the absolute worst case scenario. We have a bad shooting game. That’s it. We knew this all season. I don’t think Self put them in a position to fight in the second half.
Guys coming back need to find their cajones.
-
@tis4tim worst for Bill is 26 or 27
-
Good pass grant foster
-
Clear the bench time
-
@BeddieKU23 lazy pass!
-
25 point loss against texas this year was Self’s worst.
-
People have been wanting Self to focus on 25-150 players for years and this is what happens when you recruit in that neighborhood. You end up with flawed players and a flawed team.
This is why KU needs the top 15 players and this is what happens when you lack top end talent.
-
@DCHawker Harris will surprise. There is a lot of talent on this team. Compared to the other Blue Blood Programs, the year wasn’t so bad. Losses like this motivate. Looking forward to next season. Wish there was a tournament last year, I think we would have won it.
-
C’mon 50!
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Yep. We have solid role players. We lack elite stars. We need this recruiting cloud clear up.

There’s not a lot of talent compared to KU’s best teams. Nobody on the roster currently is an NBA level player.
-
We all knew that this was a year we could lose bad like this. Also, USC seems majorly under seeded…
-
Happy we got to play a mostly full season, all things considered. Reload and regroup.
-
I watched the whole thing. Good season y’all
-
34 points though, Bill?
-
Time for the fun stuff https://kubuckets.com/topic/10214/2021-transfer-talk-list/228
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 KU’s best teams took butt whoopings to include 1st round losses. Recruiting is down due to investigations. We will bounce back.
-
Ha, there will be one less Pac team in the next round

Who coming back would actually be a starter on most KU line-ups of the past 2 decades?
-
Lose by 34 lol
-
@KansasComet We do need the investigation to be over. One way or the other. Get rid of the uncertainty, then recruiting will pick up again.
-
Hope USC destroys Oregon. There’s a lot of arrogant Duck fans in my neck of the woods.
-
Time to rebuild. This team was not able to compete against these kinds of teams. Texas and USC are not the only teams built like that.
-

KU has only lost twice in the first round during the current 31 year streak. Neither team were among KU’s best.
-
Self talked about dave battling a foot problem in pregame. Have we known this?
-
Despite all the upsets, three #1 seeds are still alive. Wouldn’t mind seeing Gonzaga win it all, now that we’re out of it.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Must have been some reason he barely played.
-
Nope

Maybe Agbaji and McCormack.
-
@DCHawker That is a matter of opinion. Wilson will be good, McCormack is a McDonalds All American, and Abaji is talented. This loss was bad, doesn’t mean the team is horrible. We did not matchup well with tall teams this year. Next year will be different. A bad year at KU? 2nd in Conference and a loss in the round of 32. That’s not so bad.
-
KU: 3 seed, round of 32 UNC: 8, round of 64 dook: lol UK: lol, lost to KU
-
USC was on a heroin high that will vaporize next week. Either that or they will be in the championship game.
-
Well… Duke and Kentucky didn’t even make the tourney. North Carolina got ousted quickly. As did Michigan state. Weird year… last season I do remember we had a pretty good team. May have won it all.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Thank you!!
-
Silver lining: we will never have to hear the words “worst tournament loss in school history” again in our lifetime.
-
I’m wondering if foster will be back. That lazy pass

I hope so! He showed out pretty well for most of his minutes. Think there’s some real talent there.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I don’t think he’s very smart
-
What a crappy 12 months and 2 weeks, on and off the court.
Need a repeat of 2019-20 next season , this time with a long tournament run. No postponements, no cancellations, no masks, full Fieldhouse.
-
If this is the level of guards Self is going to roll with then he needs to ditch the weave stuff. Set some actual screens AWAY from the ball and get these slow, poor shooting guys some screen read options.
-
Tyon was one of the few people on KU’s roster that belonged in this game athletically.
-
Next year… Sophomore Wilson, Senior Big Dave… that’s one dog and one anchor for next year. A rim protector would be great, but Dave will do. I’m fine with an amped up Harris at point… more of an attack guy would be better of course. If Och, Braun and Bryce can’t find a beast mode, then find better players
-
@BShark yeah, he has the body

Definitely not Self’s first choice when you look at guys we struck out on. If we don’t add two guards in the offseason I will be surprised.
-
Self coming up on post game.

Minus that air ball pass and the fumble to Marcus, he did ok. I mean, he didn’t do worse than our starters.
