2019 Recruiting

@BeddieKU23 No doubt. He would help Cal keep up his PG to the NBA pipeline. Cal “develops” top pgs that are surefire NBA starters so well!
Tyrese Maxey is probably the next best PG in the class.
-
@BeddieKU23 Hagans reclassing to 2018. I guess we will find out shortly who was behind this power play.
Spoiler: UK

ridiculous its not like they need another PG. Not understanding if its UK related
-
@BeddieKU23 Yeah you are right it would not make a lot of sense. Green should stick around and they have Quickley. Maybe it will be another school after all.

I believe Green has been coming off the bench- still playing starters minutes but Alexander has been the primary PG during the recent stretch. QG is going to be a good 4 year guard for Calipari if he doesn’t become the next Ryan Harrow.
But I have a hard time believing he’s reclassifying to join Quickley and Green. Stranger things have happened of course.
-
@BeddieKU23 Green is getting the axe if Hagans goes to UK. No way he wants to be the third PG on the roster. I’m sure either way we will hear more soon. Hagans doesn’t even technically have a UK offer at this point.

I would take Hagans over Green if I was picking a side. I’m not a big Quade fan, wasn’t in HS and I’m not surprised he’s struggled a bit as a freshman. Syracuse could have really used him this season
-
@BeddieKU23 Cuse could use a lot of help. Green I believe modeled his game after AI, which is a poor choice but he is a Philly kid so that was his hoops role model growing up.
-
I really doubt it’s UK for Hagans. My guess is he stays in state. Either Tech or wait to see who replaces Mark Fox at UGA.

Interesting.
Matt mentioned KU won’t be getting involved.

Not surprised given the studs we got already. I wouldn’t trade Hagans for either of our guards
-
Self visiting Matt Hurt again tonight. He sure seems like our top priority in 2019.

Keeping the pedal to the medal on that one. Despite hurts ranking I think he’s a type that would be in college past a year which is always a good thing.
If we pull a hurt, achiuwa, JRE triple holy cow
-
Hurt would be a fantastic addition. Not sure he does stay beyond one year but that would be awesome. He’d thrive at the 4 spot here.
-
Hurt had a good game tonight in front of Bill self
-
31/14/10/6
Prettttay good
-
KU I would assume won’t get involved because we are loaded in the post but Nick Mayo is going to be an in demand grad transfer. 6’8’’ 225 lbs forward that is a career 43% three point shooter on 183 attempts.

New name: https://247sports.com/Player/Oscar-Tshiebwe-88237
From VA originally, knows McCormack.
-
@BShark As big as we are next year, could we use him as a shooting guard next year ?
-
Matt Scott saying Dante (2020 center from Sunrise) could reclass to 2019. Mercy let’s hope so. He’d vault right to #1 on our board, and would be the best replacement for Udoka

In the words of @jayballer73 “MERCY”
-
Hurt and Dante frontcourt? I’ll take it.
-
@FarmerJayhawk 40-0
-
Can you imagine? Dotson/Grimes/Achiwua/Hurt/Dante? Good lord

oh my.
Insanity

That line-up seems good.

A quick Zach Harvey update.
Hayden has completed the toughest portion of its schedule. Because 4A split into two divisions a few years ago, and Hayden is in the lower division, they are no longer in the same class with Bishop Miege, McPherson and others. Rock Creek, Wichita Collegiate and Wichita Trinity are probably the best teams besides Hayden, and Hayden won’t see them until state.
Hayden likely won’t really be tested this weekend during substate. Harvey was sounding pretty confident about this weekend. His biggest concern is just staying on the floor since so much of what his team does runs through him. I think he’s been biding his time a little bit this season, saving himself for a big three game run next week. Judging from some of what he said, I think he tries to keep his teammates involved this weekend, then takes over if necessary at state next week.

Lots of smoke out there that Memphis is going to bite the bullet and buy Tubby out to hire Penny Hardaway as HC. If so, look for his entire squad at Memphis East to follow him. That’s the entire Lawson clan, plus #1 prospect James Wiseman.
-
You mean the younger Lawson’s.
After Tubby’s recent comments I can certainly see why they would
-
@BeddieKU23 yeah, all but the ones currently on KU’s roster.

Ok that’s fine. Wasn’t that high on Chandler and not sure what the younger one will develop to be. Would love to see Penny steal Wiseman from Kentucky
-
@BeddieKU23 If ever there was a year for something like this to happen, 2019 is pretty loaded with good options for KU at the 3/4.

Exactly, there’s better talent to get then just taking an entire family worth of prospects. Achiuwa will play in the NBA. Hurt could as well if he develops physically. JRE, same boat.
-
@BeddieKU23 I like Malik Hall a lot too. Purdue is ramping it up for him.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’ll believe it when I see it. As long as Bill treats the Lawson’s right, I don’t see why they would try another experiment. Or why they would split the brother’s up. I expect KJ to be at KU while Chandler is.
Now, that #1 prospect, that might be legit. But I expect Cal to close that deal. Even if he needs to call in WWW to do it.
-
Apparently the staff got in touch with Brandon Williams after he decommitted from Arizona.
-
Would have to be okay playing off of the ball. Would move Grimes to Wing. Probably. I definitely don’t hate having two PGs playing together. Especially ones as talented as Dotson and Williams would be.

I think there is a very real chance he ends up at AZ still. Unless their staff actually gets terminated.

-
Not a big fan of Williams honestly and with the knee injury which was not some easy recovery id be very skeptical of how his leg will hold up

Fantastic article on JRE.
-
I feel older than dirt. It seems like yesterday when his dad was playing. Dang…I feel officially old.
-
@BShark That’s hilarious, haha
-
@RockkChalkk I’m hopeful Grimes knows something.

Wow yeah, that quote at the end about Grimes being one of his closest friends says a lot. I do think he ends up at KU next year which would make next year’s class insane.
-
Tough to know how friendships affect recruiting decisions. Grimes and Langford likely talk and text back and forth every day now while living in different states. Once they get to the NBA, that will likely continue. Maybe they decide to go to the same school to hang out together for one year, but its also possible that they just keep doing what they are doing while Grimes is in Lawrence and Langford is in (select destination).
With AAU the way it is, these kids meet each other when they are fairly young. My gut wonders if they had an agreement to go to the same place, why hasn’t Langford committed yet?

This is actually why I think KU is at least the frontrunner. Its the only school of his three finalists with a legit reason to wait on making an announcement. The reason being to wait and see what the status of Newman & Vick are for next year, returning or not.
-
@RockkChalkk I think Langford would commit today if Dad wasn’t running the recruitment.
